Somewhere the Legion of Doom is howling with laughter at the very notion of Lex Luthor bellowing about being innocent. Even Solomon Grundy would get that joke.
@@namishjain9238 - Exactly. And Clark and Lois, who only respond to threats once people are already *DEAD,* felt that the fact that Luthor was innocent of that *ONE* crime means that unleashing such a dangerous threat on the general public and their own family was somehow the right thing to do. Just like how last season Peia's cancer excused *everything* the Mannheim's did, including raiding the DoD, trying to kill Superman, and actually killing the former mayor of Smallville! On this show, Superman doesn't protect, he avenges. It's only disasters that he deals with decisively, not criminals.
Did anyone else almost have a heart attack when lex showed up at the house I thought he figured out Clark’s superman Because it’s the house where he grew up
@user-jo7tf6sd8f actually in the comics Lex didn't figure it out, because, due to his own ego and personality, he couldn't grasp why someone as powerful Superman could be someone as pathetic as Clark Kent. He is arguably the most intelligent person on Earth (even outmatching Batman in sheer intellect, but not in tactical thinking) but he's still a man bound by his own thoughts, feelings and prejudices
@@Jmcinally94and in the middle he yells at Clark to shut his mouth, which he'd never to Supes. Not because of fear, but out of a desire to not appear emotional/weak
He never frigured it out, cos to Lex it was impossible fror someone as powerfrul as superman to ever want to play dressup as a human, he thought it was beneath him lol @user-jo7tf6sd8f
He would’ve respected it at least, Lois would have defeated him with actual wit and within her principles. By stringing him up for a crime he didn’t actually commit she’s basically won by cheating.
The Lex Luthor actor completely killed it with this scene you can tell he isn’t terrified by Lois, Clark, or even Superman for that matter!! I can tell why the have him as a season regular in season 4. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Yes. Otis was a fellow inmate in this one. When he first met Lex in prison, the evil genius wanted to hire Otis as a henchman in exchange for his shaver. Otis had Lex beat up. Lex later got even and Otis ended up as his chair before becoming a henchman.
3:33 That tense silent exchange between Clark and Lex is very telling and yet very cryptic. You don't know if Lex has figured it out and you don't know what Clark is willing to do to get him off his porch. There is a lot of history between these two, and you can get that. It's hard to believe - and hilarious, actually - that the most brilliant mind on the planet can't see past a pair of eyeglasses and recognize his nemesis.
@@r0bw00d genuine question: are you aware of how insufferable your comments sound when read through the perspective of an outside observer? follow-up question: do you behave in real life in the same way that these two comments of yours lead me to believe, or were you just having a bad day two weeks ago? again, I am genuinely curious as to what led you to writing your comments in that way.
Damn just looking at Clark you can tell he's trying to keep calm like this bastard better leave right now talking to my wife like this and that tell Superman he's next I'm like well you just did but damn Clark watch you're back you know Lex is plaining something
Man Lex luthor is finally here face-to-face with Superman Clark and Lois how shocked they are to see him been years 👈. Man I really liked what he says to him like shut his mouth I was like wow 😳
Definitely a great confrontation that Clark and Lois have with Lex Luthor. Lex is intimidating the whole time and has a grudge with Lois for putting him away for a crime he didn't commit. Lex wants retribution in the form of Lois' retirement, and while I do wish there was more of Clark Kent standing up to Lex Luthor in this confrontation, I think we got enough from them. It is pretty clear that Superman and Lex Luthor are enemies, and I can't wait to see how their rivalry plays out in this series. Superman vs Lex Luthor is coming.
Clark did the right thing. Lois always has been quite capable of standing up for herself in almost every version of their story and had he stepped up to fight for her it would not have been good for their relationship.
Ol’ buck Compton. Amazing actor. Compton (BoB) he played him amazingly Hawke (cod big red one) an amazing leader, kept surviving the impossible until he couldn’t. Man needs more recognition
He’s very good but admittedly I still mourn that we didn’t get to see this Clark properly go up against the Lex from Supergirl. I wanted to see this show be part of the arrowverse so bad.
Eww. You wanted any reference to that pile of garbage that the CW shows became to infect this show? They cut that nonsense off for a very good reason. Lex is not supposed to be pathetic, and their Lex was incredibly so.
@@zacharyiler136 the reason, actually, had nothing to do with their quality. The CW was mainly valuable for how well their shows performed on Netflix. When the streaming wars were heating up and everyone wanted exclusivity, the contract between Netflix and the studios that owned the CW (paramount and Warner) was allowed to expire, cutting off the funding for the network.
@@adammyers7383 The reason was because the show wasn't made by the CW, and the people in charge knew how much crap the CW shows were so they distanced their show from them.
Perfect. We needed a Lex, who carries that gravitas, that a classic villain like him should. Just... the beard. We had to have just one thing be a bit off. He has the classic Lex Luthor feel, in that short scene, but why is CW set on him having a beard? Jon Cryer's Lex had one, too. The comicbook fan in me just really wishes Lex had stopped by his barber and shaved, before going and threatening his enemies. Then he'd be back to his old self.
Hate to break it to you, but in the comics Lex did had a beard. It was during the 90's comics run. He found out that he had cancer, so he fake his own death and put his mind in a young clone body to "save" himself. Then he passed himself off as his illegitimate son from Australia to get his company back. He grew his hair out long and a beard for the part, so people wouldn't get suspicious.
@rezevilfan I know..... Dating Supergirl and all, I remember. Hate to break it to you, classic Lex, as seen in the most known and lasting books, videogames and films, he's clean shaven. Also, trying to school people, in comment sections, one, doesn't matter, and two, without any knowledge of what the other person knows is foolish, and beginning with "hate to break it to you" comes off hostile and petty. No points are awarded. I've read the comics. We weren't talking about those particular books.
Clark has already proven several times that he's too stupid to anticipate villains showing up at the farm, despite how many times it has happened. He should be pushing Jordan to be Superboy, because at this point it's not clear that Superman alone will be able to protect Lois and Jonathan. Luthor doesn't play games, even compared to Morgan Edge and Bruno Mannheim. He WILL target their family, and Clark's obsession with maintaining a "normal life" means even less now than it did in the past.
@@micahfranklin4560 - One of the things that bugs me is that ever since they moved to the farm, supervillains have directly attacked them there multiple times. Yet Clark still tries to act like it's some kind of sanctuary of "normal life". Meanwhile, the boys have to worry about staying alive in their own home. But they're somehow in the wrong simply because they don't forget all the times their lives have been in danger there.
@@nnamdiuyalorjr2896That’s if he keeps Lex from getting to Bruno first cuz he is obviously going to go after everyone be blames for being locked up especially Bruno since he was the one who set up Lex
StareachValcin, Michael Cudlitz Actor Art Department Director, Lex Luthor, He is Great Amazing, Actor, HE IS Veteran Actor, And Everyone Wont, To Work With Him, And Me And My Family Will Watch Anything With Him
Anybody have this feeling that Clark and Lois will try to send Jonathan and Jordan away to protect them, but then some how Lex Luthor captures the twins I don't know why but just a theory
And Lois doesn't think to say "Dude, you were guilty of all kinds of shit we never nailed you for, the fact that we nailed you at all is miraculous. Consider this justice for the shit you got away with"?
My one criticism with this scene is Luthor should have been in a 3 piece suit. The man would never have shown up in front of an enemy without looking his absolute best no matter how hard it would have been for him.
That stare and the little conversation between Clark and Lex, don't tell me Lex doesn't know Clark is Superman. He just doesn't care. He just wants to make them suffer. He's not the type of villain who'll easily say "now I'm gonna tell the world, who you are." Lex is a master manipulator, he's got ways and plans to make them suffer even if it doesn't involve telling the world who Superman is and ruining their lives. He's above all that stupid identity reveal things
The idea in comics of Heroes never killing the bad guy because "they'd be just like them" has always troubled me. In a civilized world people can co-exist. But if an individual decides that the rules no longer apply to them then why are they extended the protection of those same rules? I feel it goes back to the idea of "Tolerance" as a moral absolute and that those who are tolerant will eventually be destroyed by those who are intolerant. I view tolerance as more of a social contract. Once you decide you're not playing by the rules then the rules no longer protect you. Batman should have killed Joker, for the common good. Superman should have killed Lex Luthor for the same reason. I get that it's a tv-show/comic-book and you can't kill an awesome bad-guy because it would end the story much too soon. Also kids are watching and you don't want to send the wrong message. But so many lives would have been saved in canon if they had done the deed.
I mean... he's got a point. Superman stands for... what was it again? Truth? Justice? And then... someone is sent to jail for something they didn't do...?
I don't know how wrong I am cause I don't watch the show, just some clips in youtube so I'm just gonna base my thoughts using this scene alone: Lex has the right, even if it is small, to demand Lois to retire from journaling. Honestly even if her job helps some people, there are also plenty of times she pushes to hard finding the truth and it eventually has some form of backlash which normally creates issues for Superman/Clark in some form. Lex maybe evil and a terrible human being but at this moment he has a valid reason to tell Lois to quit
I miss Jon Cryer as CW's Lex Luthor. He really managed to show how versatile of an actor he was by playing a supervillain. But this guy doesn't seem too bad
Huh so that's Lex huh well guess it's better than Jon Cryer and Jesse Eisenberg. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Michael Rosenbaum's Lex Luther because it made me actually believe his Raise to Super Villain 😭
He has a point though 17 years is a long time his kid all grown and not wanting to see him all that time lost all because she got is wrong how many other things has she got wrong and ruined other lives . I think asking her to just quit so it never happens again is very reasonable.
As much as I love Michael Rosenbaum and wished he was in this as Lex, I am happy that it was Michael Cudlitz. This is the version I wanted to see in the Arrowverse not Cryer. This guy I could see going toe to toe with this version of Superman for this series.
"My daughter was 14, now she won't talk to me." There is a theory that Chrissy is Lex's daughter. Which I believe will be the case. The actress who plays Chrissy was 31 when she played Chrissy. That cannot be a coincidence.
Clark has WAY more restraint than I would be able to have in his position. Like... Luthor... did you REALLY just trespass, onto MY property and threaten my wife and family? 🤨 HELL no! *grabs him by the collar, and throws him to Jupiter, dusts off hands* "So, Lois, wanna catch the end of DWTS, now that I've taken out the trash?" I simply wouldn't have the patience, as a Kryptonian, to put up with that 💩.
Its very weird to me looking at a lex that i belive would beat the shit outta clark if not for powers. Michael cudlits is a badasss . Abaraham on twd and band of brothers
No idea but if you've been imprisoned for 17 years and just got released I assume you’ve enough to think about during a walk towards a certain destination.
@@superrenai9338 I wonder if Ottis. Was paid by him for the last 17 years or he worked for other people than went back to work for Mr luthor after he got out.
@@studinthemaking Could be Lex Luthor has the money for it but Otis could also have worked for someone else cause in 17 years a lot can be done. Do believe that Otis remained loyal to Luthor and was there again for him after hearing he got released from prison.
Gotta admit i'm kinda....well i'm kinda with lex on this one. Don't watch the series but if she helped put him away with bad journalism then it's not a big ask to retire in your own way. He could always get very vocal with other news outlets then sue the company which would probably lead to her dismissal and a black mark against her name forever more.
Ok I've missed something wasn't John Cryer Lex Luthor in CW? Admittedly haven't watched but the pilot of this particular show but John Cryer was Lex on Supergirl which takes place on this Earth now so what happened?
John Cryer did indeed play Lex Luther in Supergirl, but with the multiverse they changed things up. The Superman & Lois show takes place on another Earth after that happens. That's why there's a different actor who plays Lex Luthor on that show than on Supergirl. Can be a confusing thing that multiverse stuff.
@@superrenai9338 Wait so despite these actors literally playing on Supergirl now that multiverse has been restrarted they're no longer the same Clark & Lois from Supergirl despite Supergirl now being in the same Earth as the rest of the Arrowverse? If they were gonna do that why not get different actors to differentiate? This kinda stuff is why I quit watching the CW shows it was getting too confusing.
@@bhart3321 I’m not sure but the actors who played Superman & Lois on Supergirl maybe stood out and the CW wanted to give them their own show. Guess the writers just wanted them to live in their own world without any other superhero from the Arrowverse, so they wouldn't have to worry about getting their storylines involved. But yeah the whole multiverse thing can be confusing.
@@bhart3321I’m guessing their just playing a different version of the lois and clark character from the supergirl universe. So in a matter of speaking their playing two different versions of lois and clark from 2 different universes
Doubt this is a popular take but I found this whole characterization of Lex bizarre and goofy. 1. What career criminal complains about being put away for the one crime they didn't commit when they have buckets of blood on their hands? It's so cringey and whiny. 2. If Lex is as smart and powerful and influential and dangerous as he's been in literally every portrayal of him after Golden Age, why was he stuck in prison for 17 years? He couldn't pay a judge off, break out, or get someone to find evidence to exonerate him in 17 years? I just wasn't clear what was the point of trying to make Lex both this scary Uber villain who's smart and rich enough to create Doomsday while also making him into a helpless victim wronged by the "system". No one is both of those things.
Coud be Lena Luthor but in this show we’ve only seen a picture of her that Lex had with him in prison. In season 4 we might learn more about Lex his daughter.
Where’s Lex? Is he hiding in that unnecessary beard? Damn shame, because this actor is great. I just wish every live action Lex would stop having the beard. CW, Titans, this show. A bearded Lex is like a Green Arrow without a goatee. Just ain’t right.
