@@calebstephan2083 I meaaaan. The 1st season was good for all of the shows (except supergirl, which is literal trash from the beginning). There has yet to be a show in the history of TV that wouldn't die over time. Some live longer, others less. But they all end inevitably.
*"There's no going back after the first time I saw her"* I don't know what's more sweeter than this admitting his love for Louis was always from the beginning...
This series shows what no other (movie picture) has done before. Clark is human through and through. He loves being human, and he is not going to exchange that for any superpower in the universe. He will choose any burden in the universe to keep his humanity intact. That's the central story of superman. The story that today's writers can't get into: Clark is a philosopher who lives its believes. He wants to be the best as he can be. He's a god who chooses to be the best human he can possibly be.
Although not completely flawless, this show had some really amazing and graceful moments. The time when Clark saved the fisherman when the bridge collapsed and the way the fisherman appreciated him felt honestly breathtaking for me at least not because Superman's strength but due to the void of someone as inspiring as him may be needed to help the world in circumstances where nothing can't be done.
For me this is one of the best superman adaptation since 1978´s adaptation from Richard Donner. It has his flaws but this is the best "origin of superman" episode since 1978. CW is doing an amazing job on this one I´m impressed
Yes. The show has a beautiful cinematography and looks very much like a movie. Tbh, Tyler portrayed Superman much better than Henry Cavil simply due to the fact that Tyler brings that awesome positivity and charm to his character and personality. Like as Clark he seems very humble, gentle, modest, and acts nothing like Superman. Henry Cavil as Clark didn't work in the same way. His version of Clark felt a bit brooding and somewhat weirdly serious. Imo Tyler portrayed both Superman and Clark very finely. But then again Cavil's Superman was very much inspired by Nolan's Dark Knight triology.
As someone who used to watch George Reeves version in reruns (yeh, I'm that old), it struck me that you can always tell a great concept when it's open to different versions and interpretations and that all of them in their own way, have great takes on the characters and mythology. To those who are not enjoying this approach and these two actors, I'm sorry you're not into it. This series' approach needed people who are "down-to-earth" and it found it in these two great actors. Their pauses and timing are on par with movie acting, as opposed to typical TV acting delivery (especially the usual WB fare) where the actors are clearly indicating their speaking lines written by others instead of thinking of it at that moment. And their chemistry is great - I can really believe these two would marry.
I believe that the Superman and Lois series is just getting better all the time. To me if you look at Lois Lane in this series , she reminds me of our 1978 Christopher Reeve movie with LOIS LANE, The 2nd movie with Lois Lane at the fortress of Solitude she reminded me of Kidder laying on her side in the bedroom scene. I hope this series continues to get better.
I've seen most of the Superman content in movies/tv and this is one of the few that captures the "magic" of the character. Christopher Reeve version was good at it as well. The music is 'This Life Together' on the soundtrack/score.
This is why I’m not too invested in the Man of Steel romance. She knew him as Superman from the start, and they immediately got together with no real emotional build up. As General Lane said “You fell in love with Clark Kent, but you married Superman” having it the other way around kinda diminishes the romance
Man of Steel definitely lacked in the romance department but not many comic book films get romance right anyway. The Amazing Spider-Man relationship between Peter and Gwen is probably the best the films have shown. Tv series have it easier showing a relationship.
Honestly, I kind of wish I could go back in time and just release this flashback episode in theaters instead of Man of Steel. I don't hate the movie, but the flashbacks in this show blow it out of the water as a Superman origin.
I almost imagine the exchange in the corn field... Clark: Lois I wanted you to know how much it meant to me to find out you loved me as Clark and not the cape.. Lois: What are you talking about Clark? Clark proceeds to fly into the air... Clark: Because I have something very important to tell you, I am not just Clark Kent.
What's so funny is that the woman who plays Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) is married to a man named David Giuntoli - and YEARS AGO when they were on Grimm together on tv, I saw him and was like "ah, he looks like Superman". Now BAM! She's playing Lois Lane. hahaha.
@@NoJusticeNoPeace they weren’t married at the time but he recommended her for the role just be knew her from a previous project. Her character on Grimm should have stayed dead, the story could have gone on without her and Nick and Adalind had more chemistry.
Honestly, I was worried when they announced this show. I wasn't sure about him as Superman. I wasn't sure about the writing. But, I watched. By far the best Superman there has ever been. The characters, the writing, the relationships. Superman beyond his formative years, as an older version of himself comfortable and capable in his powers, but still trying to find his footing as a father. Amazing show.
This show deserves John Williams’s music. Imagine "Can you read my mind" playing behind this scene. The Superman March playing during the heroic rescue scenes.
I wish they didn't kill her off. John Schneider and Annette O'Toole left enormous shoes to fill. And I would've liked to seen how good this new Martha Kent was.
this show reminds me of spectacular spiderman, the show focused equally on peter parker and spiderman if not more of parker while here we focus on Clark kent and superman if not more on Clark.
The super pair the best of dc universe these two have been a trio love and honesty the Super family starts the first 80 years these icons of dc comics Clark & Lois Mr & Mrs Superman Lois herself is a hero she doesn't have super powers (?) but she is far in away a super her, she is strong willed and she is a good reporter and never give up on any stories including Clark's secrets of course she knew or saw through his glasses who he actually was her love for Clark is much apart of the legend of Superman. He in turn deeply has become so much better for knowing Lois Lane. Lane & Kent the secret of their lives is their years together can't believe its been nearly 80 years in comics from the first time in Perry Whites office to the present day a love affair of two who deserves a celebration of history I mean a special episode perhaps from their original meeting a journey back in time to the very beginning much like the old TV series of the 50s? It is time to reflect on their past?
I recognizecd the actress playing Martha Kent at the actress who played the alien wife of the alien cop from the show Alien Nation. Glad to see her again.
To be honest, i would have prefered this retelling of supermans origin than his parenthood episodes. Im more interested in him as superman and not superdad but thats just me
So my question is, does Clark keep a chunk of Blue Kryptonite in his bedroom or under the bed so he can have normal intimacy with Lois (or any girl his been with)? It is the Kryptonite that basically nullifies his powers and renders him to be like any other human, and since it is not permanent, when he leaves the room his back to his normal state. It doesn't hurt him so it makes sense...
That would be a really bad idea. Red kryptonite has an unpredictable variety of effects on Superman. Losing his powers is only one. It’s changed his personality, making him lose his inhibitions or giving him temporary insanity. It’s split him into good and evil versions of Superman. It’s even turned him into other stuff as well like a dragon etc. I think you are thinking of the effects of a red sun.
@@74Spyderman You're thinking of Blue Kryptonite. Blue K is the one that messes with his inhibitions and personality, look it up, it's even been parodied in the Bad Days animated series. Red K is the one that only renders him powerless like a red sun.
@@EternalRoman I just looked it up and you are wrong. Blue K has usually only affected Bizarro Superman in most instances. But where Red K is concerned it’s had a variety of different effects in the comics and shows.
@@74Spyderman One thing is certain, they do tend to move around the effects of all the color Ks all over the place, let me look it up again and get back to you.
@@74Spyderman You're right, my mistake, but indeed different universes have different effects of the colored Ks for Superman. It was Gold Kryptonite that makes Superman Human
One was poorly written the other has his own show and proved a lot of haters wrong I think with the right story Henry Cavill as Superman is great he has the build and the look but Hoechlin and Welling as Clark Kent/Superman is amazing not forgetting Brandon Routh or the DCAU Superman I don't hate any of the Superman actors they are all great in a way
Television can explore the depth of character more than they can in movies. Most tv series get around 6-7 seasons building character arcs. You can’t dedicate that amount of time to characters unless you go down the road of the MCU for example.
Aside from them getting intimate before the wedding (what happened to Clark’s small-town Christian upbringing!?), this is a wonderful take on one of the all-time great ships from comic book fiction.
Considering stories of people from the multiverse showing up every now and then, who knows and they can bring Jonathan Kent and Martha Kent from an almost identical universe where they lost Clark in a simple and dumb way close to that age. It may be too convenient, but hey, multiuniverse theory is...well...infinite, right?
What I mean hear in the entire show, Johnathan Kent, is nowhere to be seen. Both Martha and Johnathan Kent brought up Clark Kent/ Superman; they both should be seen as characters on this show.
He was briefly in the first episode but in this show they didn't really focus on Clark’s childhood for that long (maybe because it’s a known story I mean there have been other Superman shows and movies before).
I am so very appreciative for every bad season of Arrowverse tv shows because without them networks never would have made THIS version of Superman which is so grounded in our reality...there's no villains with magicals powers ( aka Damien Darke via the arrow tv series ), there is no boring mirrow-verse dimension storyline (The Flash) a giant walking Beboo(Legends of Tomorrow even though outlandish plot surprises are their hallmark calling card), and imo subpar superhero attire ( Black Lightening's superhero look reminded me of a poor imitation of a rainbow-colored RoboCop getup...
I’ve always been confused with how glasses and hair flick is a disguise. Did Clark never take off his glasses when he was hanging out with Lois and hair get messed up to mimic Superman’s hair.
My personal (ugh) "head-canon", not backed up by any Superman media I've ever consumed (that I know of), is that, along with being very good at acting differently, Clark has unconscious mental powers that affect the way people perceive him. Not mind control, just, y'know, he wants Superman and Clark to be seen as separate, so they are. I know if you think about it too hard it probably falls apart, but parsing the logic of how ANYTHING works in superhero stories is kind of ridiculous, honestly.
Yeah the 4 season curse for Superman shows continues. This show deserved at least double that amount of seasons. The fact that Flash & Supergirl got more seasons is a crime
Glad they skipped out on all the woke crap from other shows. This has been amazing without having to force a white character to be black or a traditional character to be gay. It’s just simple.
If this guy can be Superman anyone can play that role He’s never looked like a superman He’s been forced upon the audience and most of the audience has adapted to him. But his looks will ALWAYS BE WAY OFF. Just like Nicholas Cage, which thank God his Superman movie never got to the big screen! Cause he was even worse than this guy and I love Cage as an actor. But with Superman looks are not negotiable.
