Lib Dems have the most progressive manifesto of the main parties. It’s like the Kennedy days again and I love it. With enough tactical voting we can make them the official opposition party

If they stick to their manifesto and don't forego all electoral chances for the next decade for a crumb of power, mansion and 5p plastic bag surcharge (gained at the cost of further bastard-level sanctions on benefit claimants) then they might be relevant, yeah. I always remember the line from 'Lenin' portrayed by Sir Patrick Stewart - "Don't trust the Liberals, they will betray you"
@ddandymann
@ddandymann 16 дней назад
It's also completely un-costed. The LibDems have the luxury of knowing they won't be in government so don't actually have to deliver on their promises.

@@ddandymannwhat in particular in this manifesto seems uncostable to you?
@ddandymann
@ddandymann 16 дней назад
@@benfennell6842 Okay I could write an essay on this but I'll just give one clear example for brevity. The Health Foundation, a public health charity, estimates that at minimum an additional £9 billion a year is needed to simply prevent further decline in the NHS. The LibDems promise to do this this and make significant improvement significant improvements for for £8.3 billion. That just doesn't add up. This type of optimistic costing runs all the way through the manifesto, on both sides of the budget.

Honestly, the Libdems have an extremely good manifesto. Having read them all of the parties manifestos it seems more balanced. It just seems quite expensive. It would be good having them as the main opposition to try and get the Labour Government to adopt some.

I can only imagine it was cooked up by what was once the lunatic fringe (which is now the mainstream) of the Tories. Now here's the kicker; anyone with a few functional brain cells and a postage stamp's worth of political and constitutional understanding will have said that this would face drawn out legal challenges. First off I just thought it was another expensive time wasting distraction and Sunak would turn round and utter something about "lefty lawyer's and woke courts obstructing our grand plan... Blah blah blah... It's all Labour's fault (something about Jeremy Corbyn", move on and bring it up as needed. But no, they doubled down giving time for even some of the knuckle draggers to work out - as we told them from the start - that it was throwing money away and not doing what it said on the tin. Now the question is, was the whole scheme actually part of a greater plan to attack the courts and lever us away from the ECHR? Or was it Sunak's complete political ineptitude and actually a plan to keep the idiot parade in his own party distracted, not realising it would come back to bite him? We know the nut job element, but I can't work out why the saner Tories continued pushing it as if it were important that it succeeded?

@@commuterjack Even still, voting for a minor party directly helps their funding, visibility, and legitimacy. Even if they don't win the seat, national and local vote % is important for them. That said, I'm not trying to convince you which way to vote (beyond never vote Tory). I am not voting LibDem. Especially if you don't like the candidate. I just wanted to help you be most informed so you could make the decision you're happiest with

Jesus Christ! As an American, may I ask if it would be ok if I illegally immigrate to the UK to vote for Lib-Dem? This sounds amazing!

I'm a Murrkin. I had no idea the British Liberal Democrats were so cool. In some other countries, "liberal" means "libertarian," ie right-wing and in favour of more freedoms for corporations and wealthy white males. LIberal. Libertarian. A huge international cluster**** of a communication problem which ought to be dealt with, dontcha think?

They'd need to source alot of money for this but if they committed to taxing the rich this should all be possible.

I genuinely thought recreational cannabis was already legal or mostly legal in the U.K.. It's such a waste of resources to arrest and/or prosecute people for petty cannabis possession. Just IMO, not my country, I'm from North America. I like your videos!

Are we entirely sure at some point Labour and Lib Dems didn’t just swap platforms?

So just more taxes and more bureaucracy. Just what the british economy needs.

ALSO, Foreign Policy: Liberal Democrats would immediately recognise the State of Palestine, which will aid in the part of the two-state solution. And further ensure that Palestinians have territorial recognition and sovereignty. They are also calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and equally calling upon the release of the Hostages.

I’m struggling to find anything to dislike here. Although I’m confused as to why they’d ban vapes but then make weed legal. I don’t disagree with the legal weed stance but it’s like banning mopeds, then making penny farthings road legal.

It’s hard because they will all dick us in some way, but I’m cautiously optimistic. They are on the right track and actually seem to care it’s difficult to vote because I feel as if voting Lib Dem is a waste but meh maybe it’s a good thing in a way

Love this manifesto but I still dont think I can forget and forgive them helping the Tories in in 2010. Helping bring in the start of austerity. My personal choice would be the Greens but as long as we get the Tories out for now I'll be happy. I do worry about the rise of Reform though. Last thing we need is a more far right right 😢

Remember that the Yellow Tories empowered the actual Tories and that they played a large part in the situation we are in now.
