I enjoyed watching this video. To think that this is the scary part of migration. Moving appears exciting at first but by the time you start settling then these challenges begin to stare you at the face. Chioma, I appreciate you for sharing helpful tips on ways to cope during those trying times.

I wish I had seen videos such as this one when I first moved to Australia in 2020. I suffered so much loneliness to a point where I felt I was in the blink of depression. What made everything difficult was having moved two months before the whole world was shutdown. I know this will help many people. Appreciate your content always Sis.

I am so sorry to hear how much you suffered. The timing of COVID was just plain awful (not that there could have been a better timing for a pandemic), but I hear you! I hope things have become a lot lighter for you since then. Hugs.❤️

This is one thing I am most afraid of in starting my student visa journey in Australia. It's really hard to make friends as adults especially when moving to another country. I am a little hesitant in starting my journey in Australia since a lot of youtubers said that most Australians have friends since childhood and tend to stick with those they already know. I hope I can get over this and start a new life in Australia. Thank you for sharing your real-life experiences Chioma!

Hello Sister Chioma, loving your videos is an understatement. I absolutely am a fan of your channel because of the choice of contents you share. Could you please make a video on the state of divorce in immigrant families in Australia? From this video, I understand that you no longer live with the father of your children. Could you please share what might have gone wrong? I hope this is not so personal. Thanks.

Hello Chioma, thank you for this incredible video. You did hit the nail on the head regarding the reality of loneliness abroad. Please I have a question although not related to this video. A friend who is on student visa(subclass 500) intends to apply for his wife to join him in Australia soon but doesn’t know the exact visa option. Pls do you have an idea about the type of visa or visa sub code he should apply to?
@lifewithchioma

Same visa subclass (500). There's an option to indicate whether you're the primary applicant or a subsequent entrant (dependent)

@lifewithchioma

I don't relax my hair, so I am unsure of the cost in salons. Braiding can be anywhere between $150 to $500 depending on the stylist and the braid style.

Hi Chioma, I can relate to every single word you uttered, and also to the tone, you said it in. You mentioned three areas - physical, cultural, and social; in your and my context, these all three arises from one thing - 'migration'. I, never experienced how my status of being a migrant would unfold, until I got married, and have kids (nine years after I, first migrated from my native country). Here are the reasons which make me to worry about my kids (which became the trigger, after 9 years of migration): I raise my kids with certain relegious values, which are highly un-relatable to the mainstream culture; race and identity issues for my kids; and the fear, that eventually, my kids might assimilate due to aforementioned pressures. Thing which is helping me to calm down in-relation to above-mentioned challenges is: prayers to Allah; acceptance that I don't have control over uncontrollable; and despite all the challanges for my kids, still Australia would be the place, they would call home.
@lifewithchioma
@lifewithchioma 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for sharing. I hope it also brings some comfort that you're not alone in your struggle. Be kind to yourself too, looks like you're doing your best. I also pray the kids turn out alright.

I am. Going to start my graduate certificate in Social and community service followed by Masters in Social work (Qualifying) in Feb 2024. I will be 37 years when I will complete my study but according to recent visa changes, age limit for 485 is going to be 35..This is scary.. Please guide about this in your next video. Is this age restriction is for new students or for every student who will be studying earlier.. Also tell us about when these changes are going to be implemented?? 😢😢😢

Thanks for your video. I feel lonely because I have Asperger's. I believe there are two types of loneliness for men, being alone and not having a romantic relationship. But women don't seem to agree with this. Every female I've met, including doctors and therapists says I can cure my depression by having friends, but not from having a girlfriend. But every single male/male therapist and doctor believes I can cure it from having a romantic relationship. Also, I have emotional deprivation because my mother was schizophrenic.

Don't worry, I am not lonely🙂 This is just a general discussion about the reasons people feel lonely abroad. Not once did I say I felt lonely personally. Besides, being around people is not always an accurate predictor of whether a person experiences loneliness or not.
