This has to be one of the most direct and descriptive way of contrasting the two countries. No place is perfect but it is clear that you have a clear perspective of both.
In Australia, I can expect to live until I’m 84. In Russia the average length of life for a man is 66. I don’t need to know any comparison other than that, it’s so stark a difference that it says it all about how hard and short life in Russia is.
I'm a landlord in the northeastern US. I just filled a vacant rental, and every time i do this it's just a brutal experience. Last year i had to choose between two couples who were both commuting to work from an hour and a half away because they couldn't find local housing. Around the same time, I rented to one girl who had broken up with her boyfriend, but was still living in his house because she had no where to go. Shortly before i showed her my apartment, she had realized that he'd been cheating on her for months, had gotten into a big argument with him, and had finally moved out. She was essentially homeless. I get calls from people who are living in hotels or airbnbs. There are other applicants who are in danger of ending up in the same situation if they don't find a place. It's especially hard if someone is in this situation and has kids. If you went to my region, it would seem perfect to you. Very nice houses, clean streets, beautiful trees, and plenty of activities to do, but underneath all that there are a lot of people really struggling and it's invisible.
Russia is or was so rich due to energy income. It has been stolen and the common Russian people did not get an upgrade of their lifestandard. I visited rural communities and their life did not change since the 19th century!
Thanks! You always make me think. I truly admire your passion. Here is little something to help with your café/restaurant filming expenditures. Can wait to see what is next! Great job!
I am not trying to say that living in a first world country isn't better than a third world country (*cough* Russia *cough*) but I would like to point out that USA isn't the paradise it might seem at first glance. After a few years there you start understanding there is a cost for all of these things. Ever wondered why 3/4 of americans are on antidepressants even though objectively they live better than in Russia? Not trying to discourage you from getting the hell out of Russia of course... They couldn't pay me enough to move to Russia.
You made me realise how lucky I am to live in a nice part of the UK. But many people in poorer regions really do struggle here, especially if they're older. They either heat or eat, not both. The nearest food store can be miles away from them, never mind a cinema. All the best Yulia.
What she´s telling westerners or any person from a rich nation is to be glad to have things in your country that Yulia or any Russian doesn't have or can afford as western problems are first world problems not 3rd world problems.
Neither are balanced on the issue. Russians have the better propaganda since it is not as perverse. Unfortunately it is less honest somehow on certain topics.
Hey Yulia, I remember growing in Lithuania, in the late 1990s and early 2000s, as you said on these minutes 5:03 . Original Disney or Marvel toys were not sold either in Lithuania, I remember they had some knock-off toys, that resembled Marvel characters. Of course, things have changed in middle 2000s. Still, I currently live in America, and I don't bad mouth it. So, yeah I can relate to the points you are making. I hope you come to America soon.
Hilarious! Your presentation/acting is getting so unique and outstanding. I couldn't stop smiling during the entire video. I also felt grateful not having to grow up in the USSR and was very sad not given the opportunity to grow up in the land of the free.
Average family in US is in heavy debts and live in crime flooded city. You need to hurry up to experience good living in some rural parts of the USA, things are spreading quickly.
It shocks me that food prices and clothes etc are the same in Russia as it is here in Sweden. I went to Moscow some few years ago and it was not so much cheaper than it is in Stockholm. Almost the same prices. BUT I earn around €200-300 PER DAY in Sweden. That says a lot about life in the West and life in Russia.
According to the Russian state owned news agency TASS, half of Russians spend sixty percent of their income on groceries. That article was published in 2021.
In Norway we live a good life, yes prices have gone up. But unemployment is very low, below 2%. The average salary in Norway per month in 2022 was USD 4,394 per month. This is according to statistics, I would say it is closer to USD 4,000. Good luck Yulia, I'm sure your future is bright.
Russian territory occupies one-sixth of the world’s surface. That’s enough to make a wonderful pork barrel for a handful of EI affiliates. Russia boasts of occupying more and more territory but life is not worth a penny. It is a zone of unhappiness for the Russians and, what is more, the peoples of Russia spread unhappiness among the neighbouring peoples. This young woman who deserves a decent life pays the price because her government sees humans as disposable material.
@@chandelballard6427 17 million square kilometres for Russia on 510 million square kilometres, which means that Russia represents 6 per cent of this area.
My wife grew up in a small city in Russia during the 1970's and 1980's. According to her, life was better there at that time. She was one of SIX children but still managed to have a good time during her youth. There was summer camp, a play yard in front of her building and a family dacha where her family grew all kinds of fruits and vegetables. She managed to go to college in her regional capital and get a pretty good education. Today, life is not so wonderful. Is this nostalgia or the new reality of poverty and hardship in Russia today?
I graduated college and then left on a jet plane to New York and became a cab driver (1970) wonderful place, not the cab driving, just everything else.
One of the things that I love about your videos is how whenever you mentioned a price you often put the price in the context of an average Russians monthly salary.
I live on an island (it’s actually a peninsula because we have two bridges and dam but we still call it an island) in the Netherlands, the island has 8 settlements one main city, something that’s called a smalstad (a city that never got full city rights) and 6 villages, we have a population of 27,000, the closest big city (population 69,000) is 20km away but it has been slowly dying for the last 15 years. There are no brand stores or big restaurant chains on the Island we don’t even have a snackbar, bar, butcher, bakery or supermarket in the village closest to me. The “big city” has a McDonalds and a domino’s but they don’t deliver on the island. The only thing we have more than enough of is Christianity and churches but there are no mosques, synagogues or temples. Most of the people living here buy almost everything through the internet, and it’s almost impossible to survive without a car.
Lol, Yulia. We take food/ snacks into the movies too. Those snacks are HIGH. Whew. Get your big purse. Stuff it with food. Yes, that's how we save. No lies
Yeah it's just ridiculous how expensive the snacks are and the theaters act like they wouldn't make a ton more money if they simply lowered their prices..meanwhile those snacks help keep the theater open. The cinema experience is great, so it's sad to see them struggling. I always joked about opening up a candy store next door to a theater. But expensive candy sure does look delicious. It tricks the mind. It's a well known thing in America and mostly the only people buying drinks and popcorn etc are the guys on dates. I mean you don't want to be the cheapskate sneaking stuff in for your date. haha, It's all sad, streaming is killing theaters, Amazon is killing malls, the internet is killing relationships, social media is driving people insane..imo we peaked, but at least humans will land back on the Moon and then Mars soon. Fingers crossed.
You know enough about the prices of everything that you could be an accountant, or open a budget advisory service. No doubt about it, only need to compare the pensions in Russia with anywhere else, and there's a significant difference. Wages likewise.
Life in the city of New York, is totally different than life in the city of Los Angeles. Just like life in the Midwest like Rapid City, South Dakota, Casper, Wyoming, or Bozeman, Montana. Or where I’m from Central, Minnesota.
Hello. I enjoy your videos. I hope you don’t mind me saying I think your beautiful. The heart of a person is much more important then looks but it makes it much more enjoyable to watch a pretty girl. I’m from Alabama. I lived in Moscow for two years as I was working for NASA in 2003 when American Russian political relations were very good. I loved the culture there and the people were so helpful and friendly. Enjoyed the metro, dinning out and the architecture. I will tell you more of my Russian experience later. Keep up the good entertaining work.
Watch Dari Step’s videos of Barcelona. Here you have a Russian’s insight into the West and life there. People advised her to try Belgrade. She has been there and a Russian clone wasn’t appealing even if the Serbs are nice and the language is to certain extent intelligible. If you have to read Cyrillic again, Italy beckons invitingly over the Adriatic. Getting a Schengen Visa is more complicated but its not impossible. And if that sounds like a stretch, Natasha and Alena are already in Georgia and are happy there.
Russians don’t need a visa to go to Georgia and can stay for 365 days and leave for 1 day and then come back for 365. Georgia isn’t in the EU and not part of Schengen in any way. Serbian is the closest language to Russian. They are also closely aligned with Putin and Russia.
If KY gets the chance to live in the west she'll be a frugal person compared to her the other citizens. If she has kids they better not complain about their circumstances, otherwise they'll get a version of this video live. 😅
Julia will be one of those people at the grocery store with a handful of coupons. For those of us who experienced poverty end up in close contact with it frugality is something that sticks with you forever.
Yes. You have definetly given me something to think about. Can I come yo Russia and spend the night with you in your apartment? I'll buy a pizza and sodas!
Look for example Skid Row from youtuber German in Venice. Also there are many interviews about homeless women in USA. You wouldn't want to be in their position. You think that EU is different? Croatia, median income 930€, small flat rent 400-500 €. Newly build apartments can go up to 7000€ per m², especially if tourist place.
I’m not American I’m Swedish but I’ve lived in Canada for a year as well and I could not afford many of those things you mentioned. I don’t think I’ve ever bought popcorn at the cinema. Not saying it’s as bad as Russia and I don’t represent the average Swede since I am more lower class than middle class. I’m just saying everyone isn’t that well off in Europe or the US. When I visited Brazil where my wife is from people thought we were rich making €2000 a month but that is not going to get you far here. My bills are €2000 just for basic things like house and utilities and such and also 30% of the money is paid in taxes. We can not afford to visit her family every 5 years. But again I know people that travel to other countries every year or more and make twice as much as we do. I have among the worst paying jobs that exists here working in a call centre doing customer service.
Happy to subscribe!! This is shockingly eye opening!! I had no idea how life continues to be an enormous struggle for the average Russian even after the collapse of communism.

Hi Yulia. If you really want to come to the US again I hope you make it someday. I think you would do very well in the US. Thank you for your video! Take care.
Cinemas make their money off of food and drinks. They are kind of turning into an experience and not just a movie now. We used to bring our own food. You have to wait until the lights go out. Time for a case study: It's difficult for me to enjoy anything. In the US, we have magical rules that magically come into effect if they don't like you. People don't like me. I know. I will be poor my entire life, if I ever get off aid, and I will be dependent on charity. It's impossible for me to do normal things thanks to our 17 intelligence agencies. Nobody wants to go down as I have. It can get berry scary, I hear. They don't even know it's impossible. They'll insult you and keep repeating it. And yes, I take pride in the tears I cry each night. I want them to at least enjoy their insanity.
Why don't you make your own pizza? Either using a packet of pizza-base mix, self-raising flour or plain flour, yeast, salt, a little oil and warm water. That last one is best but you need to keep it warm and let it rise for an hour, knock it back, let it rise again and roll it onto a floured baking tin. Cover it with passata or tomato paste mixed with a little water, lots of oregano (important!), grated cheese, sliced zuccini, pepperami etc, etc and bake in a hot oven for 15 minutes. You can feed the whole family for the equivalent of a few dollars.
I'm pretty certain that in Russia you'd be hard pressed to find affordable ingredients let alone a Delicatessen for such outside Moscow or St Petersburg.
You are right Julia! I will stop complaining today! But tomorrow...? Well, people always want more... Anyway, I am glad I found your video and will subscribe.
Julia! Don't stop dreaming! I remember the days of the old USSR. You are this generation's Yaakov Smirnoff (but far more attractive and a much more biting humour! Lol). Stay safe Julia!
Joe - He was the first Russian I've ever seen in my life. Unfortunately, no one in Russia knows who he is. Apparently, he wasn't famous until after he cam to America. Shocking!! I know.
Things are VERY different in the USA and the rest of the "deverloped" world. Their health system, their gun laws - no comparison. I'm Australian and I've spent time in the US. Australia's not perfect by any means, but it's orders of magnitude better than the US for ordinary people. Of course if you're obscenely rich, anywhere is great.
It's to bad Russia and America government cannot get along I mean just think of what could be done if we all work together and make a better world for every one all my love from the usa
look at videos of Detroit and Philly??..then compare them with St Petersburg....there are good and bad places in every country.i admit more bad in Russia
Fascinating listening to this. We think its expensive here in UK - aka Rip off Britain! It sounds worse in Russia. Pizza we stay clear off - guaranteed to pump up the fat index on you. Not good. Great vlog Kitten - we love the nails ! 😍👍 I dont think the Americans are doing so good these days. Masses of them living on the streets in tents. Have a good day from Paulo & Kathy GB
Many Americans can't go to college or have to join the military after HS or have debt. I now go to community college in my city, and am doing it online. I pay for it myself. We were supposed to have benefits, but for many of us, we aren't allowed to waste resources, meaning that they'll kill us to make budget. They can't make it too easy now, the kids need a religion and moral duty. It's like how I can't send my cat to the internet. I can't talk to soldiers and ruin them they think. I had issues online with people, and boy was I crushed. Anyway, the US and I have always hated each other. It's like, I see you creeping up...Bitch, I'll nail you first. Doing simple tasks is nearly impossible unless you get a guardian. They still try to kill me in the most sick way. Now some universities have clubs, can go out to eat at restaurants, spas, and PIMPED out dorm rooms, gyms, places for study, a bunch of useless electives, etc. I live in an adult home.
It’s good for Americans to be aware that not everyone is as fortunate. However, happiness is found in worthwhile, kind, and thoughtful actions and service towards others, not in a material life. Heaven is within a person’s heart and soul and so is independent of whether a person lives in Russia or the USA, wouldn’t you agree?
Wow! Thank you so much for your support!!! Of course I agree that everybody should be kind and help each other no matter where they live, but I prefer to be kind and help each other in the US, where I would not choose between buying myself a t-shirt or food to survive.❤️❤️❤️❤️
People in the rest of the world cannot fathom how good life in USA is lol. the amount of quality items available in the USA and the amount of freedom is unrivaled. Even poor people in USA have new iphone lol.
Thanks! Take care! Look forward to the glorious local restaurants which will surely embarrass the capitalist swines and make us all see the way of lenin.
Your cmparison of US housing vs Russian housing is TOTALLY unrealistic. Teh US homes you showed exist but very upper middle calsdd and in many cities they cost over USD$500k. This is not representative of the "average" US and especially not EU hosuing. In EU the majority of people live in flats, like they do in Russia. The EU flats are probably better maintained than those in Russia, but it depends where. There is also alot of terrible accomodation in EU/UK for people who do not have a high income.
@@Mega6981 maybe in DK but it is a much richer country than the majority of the EU and not at all representative of the average of the EU. Plus I higky doubt that the MAJORITY of Danes in Copenhagen live in detached houses rather than flats.

Sounds like a great place to live! Ok just jk, but after some time I really want to go on a trip somewhere around Ob river (this name is really mystical).
I can't believe you enjoyed NYC . America has lots of crime. Some sections are extremely dangerous. I happen to live near a city with many universities , MIT, Harvard, Boston University, Boston College, Emerson ,so yes many activities for students . Lots of music, sports, clubs, events, restaurants, movies , plays, and plenty of pizza and beer. There are some absolutely gorgeous homes outside the city in the richer towns but there are buildings in other cities that look like Russian apartment building built in the American version of Khrushchevka style apartment. The kids here have nice play grounds but must drive to see a movie. At the same time I see Russian kids going to beautiful malls, nice theaters and some even have pools and ice rinks for entertainment in them . America is not as nice as people are told. I see many faults.
The reality of Russia is that it's the biggest country on Earth, with a population about that of Japan (and probably getting as old). So a kilometer of highway costs the same to maintain in the Netherlands, Japan or Russia but imagine how many kilometers the russians have to build and maintain compared to Japan or the NL. Even if a russian would be as productive as a dutch or japanese person (and same low corruption and waste), they still would have to sacrifice a larger percentage of their work just to keep the place going. The natural resources do help, but not enough to compensate apparently. The Soviets tried to redistribute the wealth (from the western part to the eastern and central asian parts) and it is said that this contributed to the failure (among other things). RF just left the inequality grow. As far as I understand, Moscow and Peterburg resemble a western standard of living (or more like Eastern Europe on the average) while most of the province is at best at soviet levels (or worse). Geography is destiny. A big house comes with a big bill.
you are dreaming you think clothes (or other consumer products) are "well/strictly regulated" in USA or EU.... sure, there are regs in US/EU, but there is virtually no enforcement of those regs.... so its actually quite meaningless
@@MrRadik2011 I do not disagree with her description of the the general situation for the average Russian (simply horrible), but she has a very romantic view of how great things are for the AVERAGE US resident. NYC is NOT in any way representative of the USA as a whole.

A lot of Americans are poor. You don't see it because we hide it, and thus far, Americans are a giving peoples. Lots fill up buckets of food for our poor. Wealth also depends on the state. I live, essentially, in an asphalt city of restaurants, and you can live well here cheaply. McMansions everywhere. Anyway, I think we have one of the highest child obesity marks in the US. I've been to many places both bad and good. Now I live in an adult care home because I looked at the face of Ra. That's what happens when we have extreme punishments. The lords of the world are merciful because they don't want riots and also they don't want to have to take care of sacks of potatoes. In Russia, if you piss someone off, you get a new career in Siberia. How to find people to fit such a position. Yeah. "There's So Many of Us" in "Let's Have a War" by a Perfect Circle in the US. I'm a circle of dust. They won't even let us ignore them. I was dead before I was born. You're so great, go away.
Half the time, I get confused as to where I am and have to refresh my brain. A lot of it is my short turn memory is lost, so objects move or people say something, and I'll be confused or blank. Don't believe all the hype. Why don't you go to Europe and marry a man? You're hot. I'm not saying that as a lesbian, just that you are attractive.
