My husband, James Michael Stallings, retired as a Navy Chief EOD out of Little Creek Navy Base back in 2003 - he has told me amazing stories about his work. He loved his work in the Navy. He must have been good at his job - he came out with all ten of his fingers and toes!
@@thirty3fpv : Surviving the Cut: Navy EOD is not about the pipeline, but rather the pre-deployment qualification, in which, pretty much everyone passes. If not, then your Chief would be on your @ss until you pass.
This was entertaining, informative and heartfelt I'm glad to have such ladies and gentlemen as them to protect our way of life thank you for your service and thank you for this video
As a failed army EOD tech, it sucks I couldn’t finish training and be part of this family. I’ll be dropping a packet in 11 months and try it again. This is the absolute best job in the military. God bless EOD
Which unit were you returned to when you didn’t pass, & did you directly try out from EOD straight off from the street when you went to the recruiter or did you have a unit you served from first & then applied to get into EOD ?
We had aa no amount truck my bomb suit was fatigues. Robot was me low man. It was a great job.i must have done something right I am still here at 73 years old.
Why do people always expect Officers “not to be squared away”, like are they meant to be slackers and folks who look like folks that run away from actual hard work because they put on a nicer uniform?
@@1anre some officers I’ve encountered in the normal Navy do give off that attitude. Officers that are in NSW or part of Navy special operations (like the female Officer in the video) do seem more squared away and just more respectable from my experience
Been there...done that.....have the USN EOD qualification badge and wear it on my Canadian Army uniform dress alongside the Cdn EOD badge and the UK ATO officer badge.....!
how complicated is each is very subjective and probably not worth much thought. EOD generally attaches to conventional or unconventional units and so the mission set can overlap. Both bad AF
@@Jay-kl8wn Yeah good points. EOD kind of remind me of PJ's. Long pipeline, primary and secondary mission, both are bad asses, and nobody outside of guys like us know or care who they are.
They are not as fancily portrayed on Tv as the SEAL boys, so that in a huge way doesn’t give them the benefit of the doubt that they are actually doing the toughest most risky jobs.
I was navy eod during the worst times in America. Raacial problems anti war nuts. Homemade bombs and pipe bombs. I serve at fort Story. Our Maa was master chief serman bird the first black eod. He was a good man.
"Coolest uniform ever"? I hope you are not referring to the Service Dress White Uniform for Junior Enlisted aka the "Squid White." That is the gayest uniform ever (and I know I'm not the only one to think that).
Most Enlisted Navy EOD Techs. would serve only 6 years active duty, then get out. 6 years active duty (+ 2 years IRR) is a required length of time for the initial enlistment.
I have regrets of not letting my brother join me up in Navy when I was younger but I the one that took care of my mom noone esle did out of the family it's like now that I am 60 years old I regrets coming thur but wishes for all navy to Navy my son was in the Navy then did what time he did at and he die no the froster parents said he did suicide but I know down deep in a real mom heart he didn't his name was was John Micheal syracuse (Smith) someone said he was in Navy seal
Do one on Navy PRT, where 10% of Sailors do their push ups correctly, yet everyone passes. These videos make it look like the Navy is hard when it’s not. There’s much fraud, waste, fatness. The finest, strongest men in the Navy want to be EOD or NSW because the everyday Navy is so weak and unsatisfactory.
Yeh stud , this is Navy EOD . Not the same . About a 90 percent washout rate . Obviously you know jack . School is over a year not counting jump school . Dive school is also a part of this . It's about 5 jobs all in one . This is one of the hardest schools there is in the military besides special ops .
@ Roy Finneren: Roy, if you go to any location The Navy is doing a Physical Readiness Test, which they do twice a year all over the world, you’ll see young men and women that aren’t strong enough to perform one proper push-up. Not only that but they’ll be permitted to pass their Physical Readiness Test by their sorry leadership without having done one proper push up. Ask the strongest men and women you know that have been in The Navy and ask them if I’m lying here. I’m not. I spent 20 years in The Navy. I’ve been retired for 8 years. And because I live near a naval base I still observe Sailors doing PT all the time. Don’t get me wrong, some of them are incredibly strong and tough. But the fact is that the weak slackers are allowed to get away with cheating, and being fat & weak. They are also allowed to advance in rank along with the strong ones. What do you think this does to the morale of the strong ones? The ones you want to be in uniform and full of pride and zeal? The first step in correcting something is admitting there’s an issue, not pretending like the issue doesn’t exist. Aloha.
Seeing the Female Platoon Commander using an Xbox One controller to manipulate that bomb disposal robot, quickly points out the gamification of warfare, but also the seriousness & humor with which the US military uniquely combines Warfare with Entertainment. It’s a funny irony.
Imagine a Jump ( both Static Line and Free Fall Parachute) and SCUBA -qualified Marksman and Special Operator , Who renders safe Ordnance, minus the Hollywood version , " The Hurt Locker" ,sans Jeremy Renner and William Mackey, Courtesy of the United States Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal ( USN EOD)🇺🇸🇺🇲🦅🌎⚓😈🐕🪖💣💥🔥🇺🇸🇺🇲‼️
EOD? No thanks!!!! I chose SWO. Why? I don't want to carry squat, I want a nice hot shower, a clean rack, and 3 squares served to me by the wardroom duty crank. p.s. I DON'T GET SEA SICK EITHER!!! SUCK IT EOD!!!!!
Ummm.....Navy EOD is not a part of SOCOM; we don't have the tier system. Though, we (no female) can be attached to the units that are under the command of SOCOM.
Ok but is tier 2 unit like recon marine and nawy sarc who are also not part of SOCOM. And I saw one video where women can be nawy EOD, search that video. And because that I said this nawy EOD is realy only unit that are attached to SOCOM where can be womens and nawy divers also but they are not tier unit.
@@juremarkovic1756 : Yes, Navy EOD accepts females into its ranks; however, only male Navy EOD Techs. can be attached to units under SOCOM (don't know about the future). Additionally, only male Navy EOD Techs. can tryout for the Green Team.
