In a rare conversation with Anthony Bourdain, Harley Flanagan shares his incredible experiences in the limelight of the music and arts scene of the Lower East Side as a young kid in the 1970s.
From Ginsburg to The Beastie Boys, Warhol to Blondie, Max's Kansas City and the Stimulators, it is a time that is fully captured in Flanagan's upcoming memoir "Life of My Own" out this September.

Two legends in their respective fields. Holy crap, I miss Anthony Bourdain. The world's a lesser place with his absence.

It depends. I saw him live and he got testy about some pretty arbitrary shit. Reading his book it totally adds up. But a lot of others present lost respect for him. But having the context I have I get it.

I can still remember the first time I saw Harley drum for the Stimulators. Some people thought he was a midget or something. His book is awesome, great read.

Yeah,Harley is cool but is he becoming another Rollins?...He should have been out playing hardcore shows just like John..IDK?....and when he goes on tour with this book and new music, who's gonna show up to see him?.. There is that Cro-mags/John Joseph /Harley divide in the hardcore scene and what about the young kids that put on and go to shows but is not really down with him?Do they give a shit about a guy that use to be a part of a band that plays out regularly now?..I'm curious to see if he can pack a 300 capacity venue or even come close..John joseph and his cro mags are not even doing that.Hardcore has changed a lot,it's not the 80's anymore, people are different and they just don't come out to support bands they are not that interested in.Kids today just kinda sit back and wait for an all in one hardcore fest and get it over with...well that what I see on the eastcoast anyhow..
