If we want to keep the first month of the year/revolution, we must know when the year begins and ends, and then count the first new moon that happens after the year begins, as the first month of the year. It’s that simple. A side note, before I show how to conclusively tell when a year begins. The Hebrew word yôm/Day does not always refer to the 12 hr or 24 hr day, it is a space of time. The word for day is Yome or Yom Yome H3117 (Strong) יוֹם yôm yome From an unused root meaning to be hot; a day (as the warm hours), whether literally (from sunrise to sunset, or from one sunset to the next), or figuratively (a space of time defined by an associated term), (often used adverbially) Yom/Day can refer to a year, a month, etc. Exodus 13:10 KJVS [10] Thou shalt therefore keep this ordinance in his season from “year” to “year”. In the above, the word “day” and “year” has the same, Strongs, definition of Yom, 3117, a space of time. H5265 Having said that, a new year begins each and every year when there’s equal light and darkness, same as the first year in Creation did! At Creation, YHWH divided the light from the darkness and the light he called “day” and the darkness a called “night” and the evening (dusk) and the morning (dawn) were the first day/12 hr space of time. We must count All of the morning Dawn light, ALL the way THROUGH the evening Dusk light, because the same sun light made them both, and it is a 12 hr space of time, and a new 24 hr space of time begins at night/dark, same as it did in Creation, Nothing has changed. We still have night and day, in that order, on one side of the earth, which he was doing his creative speaking from, and light then darkness on the other side. Too much to get into on here. Just remember, we do not go by the Roman calendar, light and darkness on March 20, but with the Scriptural light and darkness on February 19. The Roman calendar counts, the twilight, and with the darkness, but light and darkness does not mix, it is really pure light that gets brighter and brighter until it reaches its Apex and then it goes the other way, dimmer and Delmer, but it is still pure light because light and darkness has no fellowship. The light comes in the darkness leaves. There’s no such thing as mingled light and darkness, because the light will not mingle with darkness. He’s telling them that the month that they “are in”, the month that the Barley is in the Ear/Abib, is the first month of the year/Revolution of time, and it is the month of young tender ears of barley/Abib, the month is named after the young tender ears of barley, which happens every year equaling our month of March H8138 (Strong) definition is שָׁנָה shânâh shaw-naw' A primitive root; to fold, that is, “duplicate” (literally or figuratively (); by implication to transmute (transitively or intransitively): - do (speak, strike) “again”, alter, double, (be given to) change, disguise, (be) diverse, pervert, prefer, “repeat”, “return”, “do the second time”.
