Top tier commentary and gameplay as always! Seriously, just a thanks from me to you. Your content has reinvigorated my love for the game and having you as an inspiration for deckbuilding/strategy thinking really made the game a more enjoyable experience
Played a Goreclaw deck against this deck and didn't notice the Legend in the corner until halfway through the match. It was exciting to play against one of my favorite content creators and I was hoping to be in the video. Highlight of the match for me was drawing 12 cards off Return of the Wildspeaker when my Ghalta was targeted with a kill spell and definitely would have been fun to hear the response. Love the content never the less.
I was really hoping on a Tergrid Brawl with the new cards from DMU. Still, I am a very big fan of black and this sweet historic brawl definitely made my day! Great job Luca!
Beautiful deck! Always feels so bad to play Discard in IRL Commander, but no such compunctions in arena ;) Ran into issues dealing with token strategies, so subbed out the Never // Return for a Meathook Massacre.
Finally a viable Liliana Discard deck again. Thank you so much for that LVD. I did however run into the issue that I could not close out games because the deck didn't have enough top-end finishers after getting into a topdeck war later. So I made some changes to the deck and this version works much better for me. added finishers: Sheoldred, the Apocalypse; Sheoldred, Whispering One; Ebondeath, Dracolich removed sweepers: Blood on the Snow; Extinction Event added discard / reanimation / spot removal: Liliana, Waker of the Dead; The Eldest Reborn; The Cruelty of Gix; Soul Shatter removed "off theme" cards / necessary cuts: The Celestus; Priest of the Forgotten Gods; Lolth, Spider Queen; Fel Specter; Cult Conscript added regular and utility lands: 31 Swamp; Agadeem's Awakening; Bojuka Bog; Crawling Barrens; Field of Ruin removed snow lands: 34 Snow-Covered Swamp; Faceless Haven
On MTGA I ran into three of this exact deck in a row earlier, after days of just 5-colour goodstuff opponents. Of course, while I was *also* playing mono-black ... so they were some very interesting games
Killian was the commander that brought me back to magic. Made a deck before historic brawl with him, then made my first real commander deck him and he’s still my favorite. This is exactly the type of matchup I debate immediately scooping when it comes up.
Agree. I started liking Golgari because my play group 20 years ago was shy about the dredge mechanic. Been my fav color combo ever since, even without dredge.
This is the deck ive been waiting for in brawl, Liliana has and always will be my favorite PLaneswalker..Mono black is amazing. Now that the most powerful and best Liliana has been printed in Standard it interesting to see how strong the tier 1 discard H. Brawl commander works....every other Lili has been a substitute for the Veil. I knew she was going to replace Tinybones and Tergrid
definitely one of the stronger liliana's. im still rocking professor onyx myself just because i prefer a sweeper heavy version of mono black control and onyx pays me off for it but i think 3 mana liliana just has many more angles and being the cheaper commander with this much power is hard to argue against
Well, when taking a card with Thoughtseize, you'd usually pick one, that's good. Chances are, your opponent isn't going to discard the good card willingly to Lili's +1. All in all, it probably doesn't matter. Your opponent is always going to discard a card, that isn't helpful to them in the current game state anyway or might even be good when discarded (a reanimation target, a card with Madness, a card with Flashback etc.). No matter when you Thoughtseize, you are going to take away the best card you can choose and they are going to discard the worst (for you) card they could choose when it comes to Lili's +1.
@@ThorsShadow I would mostly agree, but they don’t know what’s going to be thoughtsiezed so their “worst card” may be one that has a redundant effect in hand. Your thoughsieze could take the last card remaining ex) 2 counter spells. A player is a lot less likely to give up their last copy of an effect, so I would say in majority of situations it is more beneficial to give them less information when deciding
Sometimes you Thoughtseize first in case they would keep lands in hand over spells with Liliana's +1. Admittedly that's unlikely to be the case here, so could've done it the other way around.
Let's admit it: PWs as commanders are busted. They are designed to have strong effects but they need protection (and they aren't the easiest type of card to fetch back from the gy). Putting them in the command zone completely bypasses that + you have them available at anytime (so long you have enough mana)
Hey, can you do a selesnia tokens deck? I am really trying to make one work in alchemy because of rope attendant but I don't have the rare wildcards to mess around with that
