What you said at 3:49 to 4:04 exactly happened to me and I got my Inverter burnt. I had a PWM charge controller. I was charging my Litime 100ah battery. As soon as my battery was full, I guess the BMS shut down the battery, and that totally confused the charge controller and did not know what voltage the system is. It just automatically brought in and output the 36V that my panel is rated for. It burnt my 12v Inverter immediately. I figured out few days later. And this video just confirmed my theory. I have since gotten a better charge controller and indeed it is better to set the system battery voltage yourself and not allow the controller to do auto detect

Looks like a really solid product at this price range. I live in a northern climate, so the very similar HQST 60A solar charge controller is what I like better, because it has low-temp charging protection. It won't let a charge through if the sensor you set near/on the battery bank is reading a temperature below a set level.

The price at the moment is really close to about the same however the Li time one has a 5 year warranty vs HQST 1 year warranty. Plus, I already have there hundred amp mini battery, 2000 W inverter, 20 amp AC charger so it’s all gonna kind of match. In all actuality, I really don’t care if it all matched it’s just kind of what I ended up doing.

@BradCagle

It's a Sun Fun Kits battery, it has a BlueTooth BMS. It has all the shunt features built in. There are many batteries on the market with Blurtooth like this.
@afolayandammy9161
@afolayandammy9161 11 месяцев назад
@@BradCagle Oh, I see!!!!! I find my self too attached to Litime batteries because they have been very reliable batteries for me and I dont think they have any battery with inbuilt bluetooth BMS like this. Do you have any recommended 100ah battery with this feature. I hate going to my garage to check my shunt manually everytime to see my battery percentage. This is why I love my Ecoflow portable power station. I can easily monitor the whole system right from my room. But portable power stations can be sometimes pricy. Do you have a budget battery option that you can recommend that has Bluetooth BMS inbuilt apart the Sun Fun Kits battery. Doesnt look like I have heard the name of that battery before. Something in the range of $300 to $350 for an 100ah. That is the price range of most 100ah Lifepo4 batteries.

@thatonebeone Really good thinking to expand in the future. I believe he said this unit also goes to 48 V so this one controller would last you a long, long way through your solar journey. Also, buy the largest gauge wires you can possibly afford for the same reasons.
@EasyyokeFilms
@EasyyokeFilms 11 месяцев назад
There is an E02 error flash that comes up everytime my battery has fully charged to 100% and it wouldnt stop until I disconnect my solar panel. More like my battery BMS switches off my battery once the battery is full and that signals an error to the controller. I thought this happens only to cheap PWM controller. Do you have any workaround with this? The error light would start to flash once the battery is full, volts would jump upwards on the controller and charging would stop. The controller would basically reset itself and try to start charging again. And then few seconds later, E02 error comes up again
@BradCagle
@BradCagle 11 месяцев назад
Yes the solution is to lower your charging voltage. It's your battery going into protect mode because one or more cells is getting too high. For example if you have a 12v LiFePO4 battery, and have the charger set to 14.4v or 14.6v, then go down to 14.2v, or 14.4v respectively. Keep lowering by .1 or .2 until the problem goes away. Don't worry about charging to a lower voltage, you'll still get fully charged. Also keep in mind this is not a problem with the charger, it's actually the cell balance of your battery, and it may actually improve over time, you may be able to raise the voltage later if the balance improves. This is common, as most batteries I review will not charge to the full 14.6v, usually they will hit 14.2v . If you look at Victron's defaults, it's 14.2v, which is smart because they know people are going to hit this problem frequently at 14.4v, and 14.6v. Hope that helps!
@EasyyokeFilms
@EasyyokeFilms 11 месяцев назад
@@BradCagle Thank you so much, reducing the volatage worked. I used 14.4V it did not work, I had to go down to 13.8V. I saw someone write in another forum that they used 13.8V. 13.8V seem to stop the error. Thank you🙏
@BradCagle
@BradCagle 11 месяцев назад
@@EasyyokeFilms Great! Give it a week, and see if you can bump it up to 14.0, or 13.9. Ideally 14.2v would be great, but if you cant get there, no worries. You'll be fine.
