This amazing concert brings together some of the true pioneers of rock 'n' roll music including Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, James Brown, Fats Domino and B.B.King. Recorded in Italy in 1989 it features these legendary artists in performance of their best loved tracks such as Papa's Got A Brand New Bag, Bo Diddley, Great Balls Of Fire, Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On and Blueberry Hill. At the end of the concert all the performers come together for all-star jam that leaves the audience hollering for more. It's a rare event indeed that brings so many great live performers together on one bill and this DVD captures the real excitement of the evening.

I saw Little Richard in Beaumont Texas in the late sixties..he sang for two hours, played and danced..then we learned he had just spent two hours playing at a black club called The Raven before he got with us..he claimed he was hoarse from a cold...but he had sung his heart out all night..

Of all the great...and I mean great...black entertainers from back in the day, Little Richard was my favorite. Stevie Wonder's I Just Called Was To Say I Love You was my favorite love song, Fats Domino had many, many great hit songs, et cetera, but Little Richard was the most fun and always made his audience Happy. His every song...not most, not some...but every one of Little Richard's songs excited the hell out of me. I sincerely hope he's doing well, and I wish him the best. I saw Little Richard with Billy Preston in his backing band and Sam Cooke as support act in London 1962.They had to use 200 police with dogs to make us leave the theatre after one the greatest shows ever seen in England. He was as he ssid then ,like an Atomic Bomb!

Then, "Little Richard's Boogie," on Peacock, a modest hit. B - 4 Specialty. Sort of contemporaries! Fats had hits before Richard did, of course, though, "Ain't That A Shame," was the first to, `Go Pop!'

People often overlook him, maybe because of his quite and unassuming personality, though Little Richard in particular absolutely adores Fats Domino and has recorded several of his songs (I'm In Love Again, Everynight About this Hour, Valley Of Tears, Rosemary, Blueberry Hill)... and also let's not forget that it's Fats Domino playing piano on Lloyd Price's highly influential 'Lawdy Miss Clawdy'.
