Little Richard is indeed the "Architect" of Rockin' Roll.

Everyone in rock'n'roll - from the players to the fans, the people in the business - owes just about everything to Little Richard!!

Saxophonist Grady Gaines passed away on January 29th, 2021. He was 86 years old... Mr. Gaines was working as a session musician in 1955 when Little Richard asked him to join his backing band, the Upsetters. He became the band’s leader, touring extensively with Richard for the next few years as well as playing sax on recordings including “Keep A Knockin’,” “Ooh My Soul,” and “I’ll Never Let You Go.” Mr. Gaines had an iconic moment with Richard in the 1956 movie 'Don't Knock The Rock', he jumped atop Richard’s piano and played his solo sax on "Long Tall Sally"... After Richard stepped away from secular music in 1958, the Upsetters continued on, backing other greats including Sam Cooke (1931-1964) and James Brown (1933-2006). In later years, he formed a new band, the Texas Upsetters. He toured and recorded with the Texas Upsetters for years... In the 1970s he played with Millie Jackson and Curtis Mayfield... Little Richard May you Rest In Paradise. So sorry that you had to come into this world during a depression, and you leave this world in a pandemic, which is another sort of terrifying depression. Well all the true rock and rock legends are gone now. I am 62 years old and I grew up listening to Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, Fats Domino, Chuck Berry and Little Richard. I am so grateful I had a chance to enjoy their music. Hail Hail Rock and Roll.

I love Little Richard. Although I agree with his comments about transgender and gay people, I do think they still need compassion. It's sad that this man is not revered more, HE is a national treasure. He is entertaining and talented. GOD BLESS LITTLE RICHARD!

Little Richard was one of the major catalysts of Rock n Roll. He was a pioneer along with Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley. The purists might say that he was slightly ahead Chuck and Elvis. His style of Rock influenced The Beatles, The Stones and a had a massive impact on Status Quo. Hs boogie woogie and swing shuffle is evident in hundreds of music acts that followed after him. We can thank the Rock Gods for delivering Little Richard to the world. RIP to a Giant of Rock n Roll, Little Richard was Huge!!!!
