FILM DESCRIPTION:
In this 1994 adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic, the March sisters confront growing pains, financial shortages, family tragedies and romantic rivalries in mid-19th-century Massachusetts. Jo (Winona Ryder) struggles for independence and sometimes clashes with her beloved mother and her sisters Meg, Amy and Beth. She also contends with their cranky Aunt March, their impulsive neighbor Laurie (Christian Bale) and kindly linguistics professor Friedrich Bhaer (Gabriel Byrne).

He really was being an older brother here edit: what i mean by that is the disappointment in her going back on what she's believed for so long just to impress other people but then realizing he was too harsh and coming back to apologize. I have seen older brother's in real life do the exact same thing

Margarita M. He wasn’t touching her cleavage, he was pointing to the frilly, expensive material on her dress. I don’t believe it was meant to be perverted, he was more making fun of her glamorous attire. He still shouldn’t have touched her at all, either way

Emma è troppo legata al ruolo di ragazza sempre preoccupata e con gli occhi tristi (infatti interpreta Meg con quelle caratteristiche)... se le fai interpretare un ruolo più incisivo rende meglio... infatti avrebbe reso meglio in un ruolo forte come Jo... ma effettivamente Soirse Ronan era perfetta per interpretare Jo... e quindi Emma è stata subito dirottata su Meg (materna ed occhi preoccupati) anche perché più grande di età rispetto a Saoirse...

In this scene, compared to the book in this part, Laurie judged Meg's dress because of the way it looked on her and leads her to reply, "you're the rudest boy I've met." Then after a while it leads up to Laurie apologizing to Meg and asked to dance with her. But Meg was doubtful of his way of apologizing, Laurie tells her that he may not like the dress, but it looks splendid on her. That made her forgive Laurie and they both began to dance. Yet, all that happened in the 2019 version

Laurie cares alot about all members of March family and meg is like a family to him. I think he knew no matter what she wears those people in high society would look down on her and seeing her clumsy attempts to try to fit in their society, they were making fun of her. And about her dress, many men might think of her as an easy target if she wears revealing dress. She is very vulnerable there and he knows what kind of problems she can face without powerful background. So i think he is blunt here to protect her.
