Long term... Depends on how quickly they can get trade deals done. Considering how ineptly they've handled this one deal, can't imagine that being as straightforward as they claim. Short term you have wto tarrifs. Means prices have to go up. By how much? Depends who you ask. The country is already so fractured. The history between Ireland and England is much longer and more complicated than anything involving Trump or the US. Things have finally come to a relatively peaceful place where most people live and let live. Trying to tear down the border would only upset that. Sticking up a hard border like their used to be will also cause tension and division again. Can count of someone mucking things up when it was finally working.

@Lord Christmas Countries don't go broke because they provide socialised services to the population. If they budget improperly, overspend, fail to collect tax, are corrupt, etc. then they may do, but using tax revenue to provide social services is not an inherently flawed concept.

Interesting how Boris refuses to answer any of Jeremy Corbyn's questions. All along the strategy of hard-line Brexiters has been to sidestep any specifics and instead respond with strong, emotive generalisations (which is what Boris does here). It's a technique long used by extremist political or religious groups and it creates a kind of mania, a warm feeling of belonging while all facts and reality go out the window. This is why so many people in this country have allowed themselves to be persuaded that they want a no-deal Brexit and they want it now - and they want to destroy anyone who tries to stop it. Even though they also know deep down it is going to cause real short and long term damage to this country both economically and sociologically.
