Can't believe he wrote the song without touching harmonium! All notes was sounding in his mind, and rhythm, and orchestration... everything....He's true genius par excellence.
@@challenger3888 ilayaraja has a record of doing 45movies in a year. Ar rahman would ve bagged abt 10 movies from ilayaraja. But wat happened to the other 20 to 30 movies??? Don't blame or hate rahman too much... deva, s.a.rajkumar, sirpi, vidhyasagar are the ones who actually bagged all the other movies from ilayaraja. But blame/ comparisons all falls on rahman only...
@@challenger3888 If it is Technology, then all IT employees in this country would be musicians, which is not the case. Even to compose with Technology, a person needs talent. Technology is only an enabler it cannot compose music by itself for different human emotions. Both IR and AR are great in their own style. No comparison.
It's not that easy to compose such a beautiful bgm in front of so many audiences in different city. You need a genius experience and confidence to go through it successfully. This scene is an inspiration
He is a genius and one in a million composer, no argument. But the music is not instantaneous. They have these tunes in their minds all the time. He is putting it into life there.
With this music, Closing my eyes I can imagine that son is pushing the father from a building and he is falling in slow motion towards ground thinking of the lullaby he sung for him with a slight smile in his face realising it was his son who did this 💔 Raja sir enhances situation not only by music 👌
I imagine the son approaching behind his father with a knife and father spots him approaching from behind through the mirror in the front and turns immediately towards his son. Then this music plays which spoils the mood for the built up which was supposed to be a dark theme. Close up on son's face as he realizes his plans have been spoiled. Again this lullaby plays as the father smiles at his son and the son breaks into tears. Then the father comes close and hugs him. The scene ends with father falling down and the son still crying. Then I would change the scale of this lullaby bringing a mix of both major and minor on heavy strings.
Balki had something else in mind like a dark score for the scene where a son kills his own father. But Ilaiyaraaj choose to create a lullaby for the scene, which the father sung for his son which plays during the killing scene. I could never imagine a lullaby for a fathers own son killing him in bed and this plays. Goosbumps. This situation is not a joke to create something on the go infront of audience. This what a master does. Understanding the rules of them game, then bending them. A master bends rules. EPIC!! Legend!!!
Totally different idea right...so genius. I can imagine n connect this lullaby forever in my life...cox it's that love a dad had for his son ..though his son killed him..happens during tat few seconds of moment..
@@janupanicker1839 I can idolize my father being just the same to me no matter how angry I am with him but he will always care for me. This lullaby fits my father so accurately. We all have heard mother's lullaby, but lullaby for a father not yet until happened accidentally.
He is "Ilayaraaja" Not ilayaraj. If you respect a person spell it as it should be. Remember this name is soul for 50 +crore of indian population. Respect it.

The Genius Part was not the notes but the Thought of making a lullaby for this scene. This is why his music has played such an important role in many movies.
I dont know why and how I'm getting tears when I am listening to this music for very first time. This man is magician for sure. I wish, he place this tune in any movie which comes throughout the movie...
This is the reason why I keep mastro Ilayaraja as my first and foremost real music director. He is one of the renowned/ iconic music directors of the world. Tamilnadu and India is very proud of him. Cheers.
He is a genius in picking them too, just like choosing the right singers or instruments for a piece of music. He also GROOMS them, trains them on-the-job and extracts the best out of each of them all.
We thought killing will have a dark fearful music... But here, son is killing his father... Only a true music mastreo can understand the emotions... Only Illayaraja sir can make emotions to music notes.... A golden feather on the Hat of Indian Musical History....🙏
@Sk Integral s to n Yes.....but if the music is like raging... everyone thinks bad...but here the perspective is of the father and audience...and he is giving an incite not to kill ❤️
He has the music in his head, he writes western classical notes and he also explains the music in carnatic. May be if there was enough time, he would connect it to Tamil folk as well. I think Genius is an understatement.
I'm 68, until 14 my favourite was Tamizh songs. Then I was crazy for Hindi numbers until Annakili in 1976. I never looked back then. Since then my all time favourite has been Maestro's magic.
What a genius ..... we celebrate Hans zimmer n we r ignorant about this born genius who never went school for music..n yet composed 1 st symphony by an Asian .....!!
There’s a similar story for the Movie Shiva. When composing bgm for a fight scene Raja sir did a pathos (sad) tune. And when the director (RGV) asked him why he made a sad tune, Raja sir replied “children came to study to college and instead they are fighting. So it’s a sad situation”
This is bunkum. The music is a normal thriller type music with lots of punching noises. See for yourself: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jqwh3PgW4dE.html
He is composing in open before public, what a legend, he never used to go abroad for composing(?) like todays music copy paste composers, the person who really got the sound knowledge & guts can do like this. amazing
My God!, This is called breathing life into a scene that not even the movie director thought about. A lullaby would definitely make the scene emotional while cello predicts the moments ahead. Lot to learn from the Master. Now I know why he shows frustration with present sound and intelligence.
The cello plays with your emotions, the way he had put it immediately brings like a baby in a "Thooli" or the father carrying the son in the shoulders and rocking him
Pin drop silence... at the time of "sound" is "delivering" from Mother of Music Mind♥️ When the "sound' borned.. crowd claps. When the "sound" speaks thro flute, violin, big base & other instruments, its just a new cute and beautiful baby♥️♥️
The reason why He is named " THE MAESTERO " . Anyone can write this kind of Music . But , the vision of Him seeing the scene in a different perspective , which can affect the Audience and Conducting that as a Music Score . Waaaahhh!!!!! 😩❤ . The Man ! The Myth !! The Legend !!!💯
wow what a genius he is. he didn't even check it with any instrument about the correctness of the tune which he wrote with musical notation. The music has started flowing when he calls it. In a way he is the instrument by himself that is been played by universe. He has received and delivering it for us. OM NAMAH SHIVAYA.
And SPB used to comment on this. Once SPB told on mischievous appreciation of the maestro, "This rascal has a keyboard in his brain!". He never tests his notations on any instruments!
There is a collision between Me and Mahakal, as he is much needed on earth to spread the beauty of happiness than required in heaven. I can't control it and to say it also.
The maestro just showed the people the level of high order thought that went into that subtle noir lullaby!! Can never think of a better score than this for the given situation. Absolutely Brilliant Sir!! 🙏🙂😘
Any musician who has perfected his Music Theory Knowledge and doesn't have stage fright lol. Edit: I made this comment to glorify the beauty of how musically well trained Illairaja is and all of a sudden this turned into a war zone...
@@walterwhite4699 How many have (of those "any musician") you seen doing a live composing session with his team? OR How many of those "any musician" composed/composing for 45+ years with 1000+ movies, 6000+ compositions?!
@@BC999 First of all, I wasn't degrading Raja sir. I'm just telling that his musical knowledge is just perfect. Do you know how are chord progressions made? Do you know what's the circle of fifths? Do you know how many tunes you can make out of a pentatonic major/minor scale? What I'm trying to say is that Raja sir is proficient in all these theory. He is pitch perfect, which is a rare trait among musicians. I've been learning music for 6 years and I know how much hardwork it takes to perfecting all these skills. Raja sir is a person who has been working since he was 5 years old starting from playing a guitar, to a harmonium and then becoming a great composer. I'm repeating this again: "If you know the basics of music knowledge, then you would agree with me that ANY MUSICIAN CAN COMPOSE A SINGLE MOTIF WITHIN MINUTES THROUGH MUSCLE MEMORY". And I'm not telling that whatever the Raja sir did in the video is normal... He is indeed spectacular. Edit: The only difference between Raja sir and the other musicians is that Raja sir's product is even more beautiful than what others could make out within a few minutes.
@@walterwhite4699 "Composing music is easy. Composing a masterpiece is difficult." - WHEN DID I DENY THAT?! Of course and that is EXACTLY why I said NOT just "any musician" with just mere theory knowledge could do that.
All his songs will be like having a hot coffee from my mom every day morning! They are very freshly brewed in the morning, so fresh, so light, so charming, so calm to the senses with lots of love, same like my mom's daily coffee! Thank you tons Raja sir🛑
Woah! What a great composer. Spot on. He’s a true MUSIC DIRECTOR! Period. Emotions are elevated to next level. It’s like each & Every audience feel like getting killed but can’t stop (emotional music playing bgm) even they knew the murderer is coming for them.
Great composer who is capable of composing a tune in a couple of minutes to match a complicated situation which is unthinkable We can't think of a lullaby in such a situation. It's really wonderful.
No one Music director could Image this... ONLY RAJA sir . 99% music director taking 2-10month for a 4 song. but raja sir takes only 4 hr to complete song
Such an intelligent work by Raja Sir.... Son is going to kill his father; that is the situation but the legend composes a lullaby in that space. Wowwwwwwwww the sentimental works and the tears come out from my eyes.... Isai Gnani is the reason behind the story... Big applause to the crowd for being quite
@@lawrencemathieson5422 I think he is just denying the fact the a mortal human is being considered as a God. Illairaja is a legend indeed, no doubt about that... But some people don't like exaggaration that takes to the level of comparing a person to God.
He's genius..am proud I've grown up listening to all his music. Everythg has different genre , rhythm and sounds. Totally loving his work...it's sad the scene behind the dark story...brain works and thinks differently. And , that's y he is who he is....unique..
Can totally imagine the guy walking in slo-mo towards his house drenched in rain, covered in mud with an Aruval to hack his father while this melancholic lullaby plays in bg.
This music has created the scene automatically. A rainy night. A guy drives his car to his father's place only to kill him. He has a neutral face but one can see a mild pain and grief in his face because it needs to be done. When the car passes a street light, the face shows thin, salty lines of his tears. So dark and s sorrowful situation. Can this be anymore magical? Only Raja can make this dot this...
Did anyone notice that ilayaraja’s solo violin never sounds plastic like electronic violin. It has the right level of girth and warmth. ARR’s violin sounds bit sharper than normal. Bhardhwaj use solo violin amazingly in most of his songs.
We need more demo like this and this is really interesting. Upcoming composers and other music lovers would try to understand how and what kind of music works for a scene...Superb 👏👏
Pure genius.. just the thought of a lullaby playing in the background to this particular muder situation, moves completely. Have no clue, who the actors gonna be, no idea what the location is gonna be.. yet I had tears in my eyes.... That's the power of Raja sir. Long live Raja sir. ❤️❤️
Greatest Maestro ever walk the face of earth,no comparison no replacement ever🙏...he actually "tastes" music while writing or reading the notes...while we can't taste a chicken by looking at chicken dish photos...Its impossible for human
Jeez... Just now recognized it's has an inspiration of Waltz music. I had seen this video and heard this music multiple times, but just recognizing it. It still feels fresh. Just imagine you are doing a ball room dance with your SO. This would still fit.
