Today in the shop, Zach, a talented member of our team with experience building high-end sets for theaters in New York, takes a beautiful live-edge walnut slab and crafts a unique version of our "selling like hotcakes" charcuterie boards. While we don't necessarily feel like we're fancy enough to use that word, the French bothered to come up with it so why not save time and sound fancy at the same time!
Just like snowflakes, our charcuterie boards are all different and its the freedom to let the wood tell you where to cut that makes the process of making these beauties truly enjoyable, just ask Zach (it was his first time being filmed by Tay otherwise he would no-doubt be beaming with excitement!).
The steps are simple: cut the wood to size, mark out the handle, cut it out on the band saw, sand it down, round the corners and coat with mineral oil and sealer! Grab some wine, cut up some nice meats and cheeses and enjoy your handiwork! Hours devours never tasted so good...

A beautiful piece from a beautiful piece of wood! PLEASE wear safety glasses and protect your precious eyes! Be a good example to others using tools. I say this as the daughter and sister of carpenters.

Great detailed info on the joiner and planar. Technical details that many others just gloss over.

nice video. I had a walnut tree cut down from my yard a couple years ago, and i saved as much as i could for woodworking. I made walnut charcuterie boards for all my friends this Christmas. they all turned out amazing - walnut is really beautiful, durable wood and if anyone ever gets the chance to work it, you will know what I mean. Looking forward to more projects with my walnut as it's just getting dry enough to work with. Being in Western Canada we don't have much hardwood, so I feel fortunate! I am just a beginner wood worker with entry-level tools, but I am enjoying learning and appreciate how many great woodworkers share their craft and knowledge on youtube. Thanks!

I loved watching Salvage Dawgs, and was excited to see these tutorials. I do wish, however, that safety glasses were worn. I notice I am not the only one who mentioned this.

Mineral oil is left over crud from the ⛽ companies. Use a natural oil like hemp or tung oil. Beautiful work by the way.

Good project look great. I like using maple and walnut plus cherry wood. I would love to have better wood working tools. I have the cheaper ones but they get me by. God bless.

Turned out great! Have you ever tried a homemade mix of mineral oil and beeswax? Food safe and brings out the grain of walnut. Just curious, what do you sell these for?

That looked like an interesting video. Sadly, I had to switch it off because the intrusive, and quite unnecessary, music was so annoying. The music didn't enhance your video production - it ruined it.
