Recently I had the pleasure of hosting a live event in Los Angeles, CA. This event was part of a lecture series called The Brain Body Contract. My favorite part of the evening was the question & answer period, where I had the opportunity to answer questions from the attendees of each event. Included here is the Q&A from our event in Los Angeles, CA.

The section about "mindfulness" being one of the best habits for a teenager really hit hard. I started meditating and journaling at age 19 and it completely removed my exam stress and social anxiety, A teacher was actually doing an after school workshop on it and I nearly didn't. I still shudder to think the man I'd be if I hadn't attended that workshop.... this should be taught in schools. Mindfulness and mental health are "spoken about" more than ever, but no BS practical advice is getting scarcer by the day. Thanks Andrew for a fantastic episode

I think it shoul d be clarified that one should not celebrate actions that caused them to fail, I feel like someone could make that interpretation of that sentence. Instead, see mistakes in a positive light, realizing they are opportunities for improvement, which amplifies itself as the brain learns the increasingly immediate (potential) benefits of that.

I want to thank you for your podcasts. I live in Australia, and TMS is not well known, and only recently approved by Medicare. I listened to your podcast with Nolan Williams, it inspired me to research the treatment. I discovered my psychiatrist uses this treatment, although had not mentioned it to me. I don’t think the Australian health care system has embraced it as a treatment for depression as yet. Until now I didn’t realise how depressed I was. I’m 66 yo work as an RN 4 days a week, I found it impossible to do simple things around the house, outside of work. I thought I was just lazy. I have just had my 20th treatment, (over 7 sessions of rTMS), this treatment so far has been life changing for me! Thank you so much for your podcasts, you are truly inspirational!

I have an idea about something many episodes ago. You commented on effective stretch protocol (30 seconds at about 65% intensity) I intuit that the reason more aggressive or painful stretches for longer time are less effective for ROM improvement because the stress signal in those instances would likely suggest that the target of the stretch should respond by strengthening the capability of bearing a heavy load and would lessen ROM in order to avoid injury. So instead of giving the limb a longer distance it can move, you make it stronger at the extent of its current range. Both still are adaptations to the stretch. Do you want for overextension to be more difficult to achieve, or to increase the distance that extension can occur before damage occurs. Lengthen, or strengthen?

For example, there are many ingredients that are linked to cancer in deodorants, sun lotion, make up, moisturiser and perfume. Although not addressed because it’s out of context to your talk, that technique is also applied in the remote viewing protocols established by PI’s Russell Targ & Harold Puthoff during government funded research at SRI International (Stanford Research Institute), Menlo Park. Would be great to do a podcast on what happens to moms that wake up constantly because of their newborns and tips on how to cope or what to do. This affects a lot of people :). My baby is 11 months old and she still wakes up multiple times each night. I'm sure it influences my hormones, maybe dopamine, diurnal genes, etc etc. For example: you wake up *every* 2 hrs in the beginning, you can't simply roll over and go back to sleep. You have to feed the baby, change diaper and get it to go back to sleep on a crib, which the baby doesn't like. This is usually 30 mins, then u try to fall asleep quickly because you know in about 1.5hrs, you will wake up to more screams. Then you can't catch up on sleep during the day because you still have to take care of the baby and maybe other kids. Maybe do chores, clean, cook,etc. Then repeat all over again that night and for several nights after. Chronic sleep deprivation. Maybe insomniacs can catch up on sleep during the day but caregivers of a baby only sleep "naps" during the 24hrs. This has to affect hormones, etc. It's hard to exercise, cook daily, have motivation etc when you are almost like in a zombie state. This is why in many places of the world, moms sleep with the baby in the bed so breastfeeding is easy throught the night. Babies hate being put in a crib and sometimes will wake up as you are puttng them down in there and then a whole other crying cycle starts. However, the American pediatrician and medical associations say never to sleep with a baby. I read a book that mentioned the CIA torture techniques are similar, when the terrorist falls asleep, they wake them up with a loud noise. Feels similar to me when I have a newborn lol, like I'm being tortured and woken up by screams when i had just fallen asleep. Anyway, an episode on what happens to the body, hormones, diurnal genes and cycles would be great and things to do. Such as keep lights very dim, try not to eat 2 hrs before bed, etc. Like some of the advice you already give plus more. And tailored to this stage in many people's lives. Thank you 😁
@williammdsilva
@williammdsilva Год назад
Definitely don't listen to who ever says don't sleep with the baby in the bed. I would look at Gabor Mate and how many recommendations on child care can cause brain shrinkage in babies and hinder their psychological and physical well being as adults. If you are worried about smothering the baby put them on a pillow or otherwise elevate them.
@mareezy
@mareezy Год назад
@@williammdsilva well, all pediatricians say don't sleep with baby in the bed. Apparently babies in America die much more when this happens. They suffocate. Do the research.
@mareezy
@mareezy Год назад
@@williammdsilva look up SIDS and America versus other countries. What causes SIDS. Putting a pillow or baby in bed makes them die a lot more than putting them on a crib. There are moms on youtube that did what you said and they regret because their babies died and they say they wish they listened to the doctors
@xavthomas
@xavthomas Год назад
@M It's true that it's cultural whether or not bed sharing causes SIDS. Some of this is down to the rate of things like smoking, drinking and other substance use which should never be done while bed sharing. Also cultural is bed firmness and bedding. 80% of bed sharing SIDS is due to the baby being under the covers with the adults. In contrast, in some cultures the norm is bed sharing and their SIDS rates are actually lower than in the US. More education on bed sharing would help both babies and parents. It can be done safely if parents better understand the risks
@xavthomas
@xavthomas Год назад
@M BTW your 11 month old is safe in your bed. Low risk babies are more likely to be struck by lightning than die while bed sharing once they reach 4 months of age.

Do you believe that besides doing the works, for ourselves to get motivation, what do you say about and instead doing and giving to others for a very long lasting result?? I don't understand why you don't tap into that?? Isn't giving a HUGE piece of what you've been helping folks to realize Andrew?? I keep watching and waiting for you to help everyone understand that truths fact.

Dear Andrew, do you plan to do a podcast about Fibromyalgia? This spread phenomena takes the toll of 4-6% of the world population and a podcast on this matter can be very relevant to such patients or their family members and friends. Please let me know so I can update the head of the Fibromialgia association in Israel. I would like all of them to be familiar with your wonderful and informative podcasts. Looking forward! Maya
