Love how Dr Craig prefaces his explanation of Jonah being swallowed by a fish as describing himself as “ignorant” on the subject, and then proceeds to give an informed, coherent, plausible answer to the question. So thankful that the Lord has called such a great mind to proclaim His word.

So interesting to see an interaction with Dr. Craig and his son. He must be very proud of his son, and I'm sure the reverse is also true.

It's really my pleasure to do that. In a few months I'll have a bachelor of degree in Theology from ETC (Evangelical Theological College) here in Addis. And also I've been doing a translation one of Geisler’s book into Amharic, in our Federal Language. Additionally, I've started studying Dr. Bill’s and Dr. J. P. Moreland’s book, Philosophical Foundation For A Christian Worldview with one of my friend. Hence, currently I'm busy in doing these stuffs... though in a few months I'm going to teach some lessons from it...

Origin of life was a big pagan pillar that, in my opinion, Dr. James Tour was able to topple. He took all the flimsy lies of abiogenesis and just snapped them in two and danced on the pieces.

Thank you for the Q&A Dr Craig. I appreciate your view even if I disagree at times, however I had a thought I don’t think I ever hear anyone address when talking about interpretation of Genesis. God clearly knew that through the way He inspired the writings of Genesis, that it would cause billions of believers over thousands of years to fully believe the Bible was teaching YEC. Thus, being faithful to God’s Word from their perspective, they shunned scientists who told them they were wrong. Why would God choose to write Genesis in this way if He knew the vast, vast majority of Christians throughout time would have a false understanding because of it? In my opinion, we have been interpreting Genesis correctly, our God is not a God who deceives. I cannot reconcile this with the modern scientific view of the age of the universe, but I’m not trying to nor am I even remotely qualified to do so. Regardless, I know that we will not be tested on our theological knowledge and interpretations when we finally arrive at the gates of Heaven, I thank you for your time and you have my respect regardless of your position on this Dr. Craig. May God’s blessings be upon you.

Historically, YEC has never been the majority view. There have only really been two times that is has had a substantial following, one when proposed by Ussher and then in modern times after the seventh-day-adventist Ellen G White supported it in her writing. A careful reading of the text, keeping in mind the meanings of phrases in early Hebrew, fully supports an OEC view. It's only a fairly narrow reading that leads to a YEC perspective (ignoring or minimising the significance of verses or words in the text). You only have to look closely at the genealogies to see some big issues, such as the fact that taking the numbers literally leads to Noah still being alive at the time of Abraham (10 generations later) or that his father was 130 when he was born, so why would he consider 100 to be too old to father a child... To ask a simple question and perhaps get the ball rolling in the right direction, what exists after the first sentence? The following sentences all start with "and", indicating that they are not separated from the first, but that they follow on from each other. Where is the perspective of the witness to creation (the Spirit of God) at the end of verse 2? Job 38 gives a little more information about the process of creation also, note specifically verse 9 in the context of Genesis 1:2 and the subsequent steps of creation. Every word in the text is significant, as are the patterns of the text and the structure of the paragraphs for each "day". A thick atmosphere of dark clouds can block light from reaching the surface... The seventh day lacks the second part of the phrase that would "close" it, implying that it isn't yet finished. He is resting from His work of creation, which He will continue again at the dawn of the eighth "day" with the creation of the new heavens and earth. There's no reason to set "science" against "faith", the evidence is the evidence. Some theories are just based on wrong interpretation of the evidence (like speciation), but truth is truth and there is no deception in either of the "books" of revelation that God has provided, the Bible and nature.

@@stephenkeen6044 Yet Dr Craig himself acknowledges "[YECs] hermeneutical claim is eminently plausible and deserves to be taken seriously by the biblical scholar. Not a few revisionist scholars agree that the young earth creationist has rightly interpreted the text" (IN QUEST OF THE HISTORICAL ADAM,p13). Historically YEC *WAS* the main view! No one thought that the 6 days represented periods of billions of years. Augustine (354-430) said "let us then omit the conjectures of men who *know not what they say* when they speak of the nature and origin of the human race... *They are deceived too* ....reckoning by the sacred writings we find that not 6000 years have yet passed" The sad truth is that Craig has effectively apostatised by denigrating the character of God. God according to Craig created the world over billions of years which involved millions of years of suffering, predation, disease and death YET for some inscrutable reason in his written *revelation* he informs us that he did so in 6 days containing evening and morning and followed by night AND in a totally different order from evolution! Oh, and that everything was *"very good."* Oh, and then to make matters worse he sends his son into the world to deliver us from the horrors that he himself brought into existence!! What's the problem with Noah still being alive at the time of Abraham? Noah survived the Flood! If Methuselah was still alive you might have a case, but Noah?!

Let's see, even simple life is too complex to happen by without design so it must have been created by an infinitely powerful intelligence who just happens to exist without design. Is that the belief here?

Dr. Craig This is of topic, but I have a friend that is Baha’i faith. He and I have been discussing are faiths and his is very confusing. Do you know any resources that can help. Thanks God bless
@ReasonableFaithOrg
@ReasonableFaithOrg 6 месяцев назад
The major difference between Baha'i and Christianity is in their doctrine of atonement. They do not believe that Jesus is the only way to God, which assumes that this essential teaching of Christianity is false. However, since we have good reason to think that it is true, namely the fact that Jesus vindicated this teaching with his resurrection, then the Baha'i claim is false. So, the best way to discuss this topic with your friend is to learn the historical evidence for the resurrection and the radically exclusive claims of Christ which it vindicates. Here's a great article to get you started: www.reasonablefaith.org/writings/popular-writings/jesus-of-nazareth/the-resurrection-of-jesus. - RF Admin

Dr. Craig the only thing that I don't understand is that you have no problem acknowledging that God created the entire universe instantaneously but for life (and the duck or the dinosaurs) being created in the same manner is an obstacle to you. Also, the vine "alchemy" approach means nothing since you have Christ feeding 5000 people with 5 loafs and 2 fish... Have you considered that when God created the earth, he didn't create it "young" but rather same as He did with Adam (a grown man)? There are also some thesis on the fossils found of the dinosaurs are due to the great flood... Not saying I know better, just that there are more views and possibilities then you might thought. Either way, regardless which scenario is true, it doesn't affect our salvation, where we see eye to eye.
@lincwayne3435
@lincwayne3435 6 месяцев назад
I love Dr craig! However, God did just that instantaneous type of creation with Adam, forming him out of the dust of the Earth - not to mention the entire universe out of nothing, which I think is much greater.. for my little pea brain anyway!
@its9429
@its9429 6 месяцев назад
Dr. Craig's explanation for creation is that the universe came into existence out of nothing, poof...like his ducks, BUT there was only single cell bacteria? And only on the earth? What? He still has a "poof out of nothing problem." If "poof out of nothing" is acceptable, why is it limited to bacteria? A single cell of bacteria self assembled from basic chemistry? That's as big a leap as "poof." You might as well say, "ex nehilo" with an appearance of age or Adam with a belly button!
@ReasonableFaithOrg
@ReasonableFaithOrg 6 месяцев назад
With theism, the creation of the universe merely lacks a material cause (think of a chair being made from the wood of a tree), but there's still an efficient cause, namely God. With naturalism, there's neither a material cause, nor an efficient cause. So, if creation by God is incoherent, then naturalism is doubly so. - RF Admin

The more I hear of this from Dr. Craig the more incoherent he sounds. Dr. Craig's "supervised" evolution started with something out of nothing in as much as Ken Ham's absolutely literal interpretation of Gen 1-11. The only difference is how closely the "out of nothing" world resembled what we see today. Mr. Ham holds that life began as stated in Gen. ch. 1-11 with people, plants, and animals - "Poof" - in 6 (24hr.) days around 6500 years ago. Dr. Craig seems to hold that basic chemistry and bacteria 'appeared' 13 or so billion years ago... Regardless, BOTH are "poof" something out of nothing. And yet, Dr. Craig, can't bring himself to say as Dr. Swamidass, "we share common ancestry with the great apes" as though commonality with the "great apes" is more noble than stating that God decided to evolve his image bearers from chimps.
