India is so diverse man, you have people that looks East Asian like Bhutanese people, some that looks Iranian from North India, but original Indian look like Tamil Nadu people...
Well, actually there're a lot of Indians that live mostly in NE part of d country belonging 2 various indigenous/tribal communities who look like people from China or SE Asia or East Asia. The three of u won't look out of place at all in North-Eastern states. India is extremely diverse beyond d stereotypes portrayed in foreign or even mainstream Indian media. I'm from Assam in NE & our culture/cuisine has lot of similarities with South-East Asian countries like Myanmar & Thailand.
all 3 of them can fake to be NEIndian, because most us NEIndian have SE Asian features and they look SE Asian too I bet nobody from northern or southern India could catch real identity.
Mike does look like northeast indian 😌🤍and most importantly he enjoyed being an Indian❤ he would have enjoyed more if he watched Indian serials 😂😑😂with 80% dhumtanamama , 10%advertise ,5%crying ,3%plot and lastly 2% acting😂😂😂
As an Indian who loves Korean culture and is a huge fan of CantoMando, I think this has got to be one of the best videos I have ever watched! I really liked how you all had different challenges every day for a week or so and didn’t just spend your time enjoying the new culture for one day only! Thank you for exploring Indian culture and loving it. I hope you all can visit India one day too. ❤️
As an Indian (Gorkha) I loved Mike speaking Hindi hahaha so adorable!! And if you’re 1% South Asian, you could also be Nepalese. You look more nepalese, infact you could easily pass as a Nepali. I thoroughly enjoy you guys’ video! ❤️
No sis south asian DNA is same for all Indian subcontinent country R1a1 is our DNA even though European and Iranian have also this Dna. We all are same by DNA. our culture is also same miss 🇮🇳❤🇳🇵 🇮🇳❤🇳🇵
1 percent doesn't have any effect on appearance. As far as I know, that 1 percent is Chola dynasty dna of south india. Because they travelled a lot by sea for traditing.
actually "gwenchana" means "Its ok" or "am ok" , Jinja means "really" . i litrelly loved this video , keep it up guys , and well i am an Indian and i loved the accent of mike , he really tried it and i am happy by his genuine reaction to our culture !!!
ngl it made my heart feel so warm to see Mike embracing Indian culture, especially by going to Gurdwara and doing Bhangra, it was super awesome to see. Also Mike, dont worry too much about wearing a paag (turban) as long as you aren't making fun of it, its all ok to wear one! the cultural appreciation i saw from mike in this video, really made me smile so much
@@weshouldsaveourselves6780 true but india and pakistan are really close, also hes wearing a turban which symbolizes sikhism which originated in punjab, and half of punjab is pakistan and the other half is in india
I personally wished either Sheldon or Edward should have done one Korean and one Vietnamese as they were both around 15-20% Vietnamese too, rather than have 2 of them do Korean at the same time. I think the video would have been a bit more interesting to see all three of them dive into three different cultures rather than Sheldon and Edward being together as always.
I think they were doing the culture that was he least in percentage, like the korean was only 1%/2% . So, it would be more interesting but I like your idea too
@@zeth479 Cantonese and Vietnamese people actually share a little bit of roots together. There is still a lot of Cantonese people that speak Vietnamese and a lot of Vietnamese people that speak Cantonese. It would have been a much more interesting video if one of them tried Vietnamese culture, because they'd be surprise how many Vietnamese people actually speak Cantonese too. Just seems like a classic Edward and Sheldon being together video while Mike does his own thing as usual.
i also got 7% Korean in my ancestryDNA but as far as I know my family is Chinese/Taiwanese to the bone. i searched around and multiple ppl told me a lot of far northern Chinese han dna gets confused for Korean. so it’s probably just a dna interpretation error. but great video, love the cultural connections
The accuracy of these DNA sites depends on how many people are doing the testing. A lot of times the Korean ancestry in Chinese are actually Mongolian. Maybe they just don't have a lot of Mongolian people doing the test so all of them are recognized as Korean.
Just some information for you guys, Mike having some South Asian makes sense a little because alot of people in South Asia also have a little Chinese/East Asian in them - Examples being Nepali, Assamese, Manipuri, Bhutanese people.
Those people live close to South Asia where as Mike is from Beijing which is at the very north western most end of China so him having ancestry from the Indian subcontinent is a little surprising. Maybe his great ancestors were close to south west China before they made a big move
I think Mike's south asian is because the northern and Eastern regions of South asia are inhabited by Sino-tibetan people like the Chinese. They are genetically and language wise related to the chinese and has the same ancestry many thousand years ago. Sino-tibetan people probably originated around the yellow river valley. While the people east along the yellow river became the Han chinese some groups west went to tibet, north east india and myanmar giving rise to the tibetans, burmese, north east indians, various himalayan people of China, india, nepal and bhutan and other minorities of south western China, myanmar and northern thailand.
One of the best forms of content I've EVER watched on RU-vid, hands down. This was absolutely amazing, hats off to you man fr; y'all should do a mini series for different cultures all around the world.
This episode is so fun to watch!! Experiencing different cultures, food, languages and breaking the barrier of different races. I really loved it! ❤️ Shout out to all those kind ppl/friends as well. Hope you guys keep in touch
So one thing. Don't feel like racist, while pronouncing hindi or anything else. You're trying to assimilate in our culture that's so much positive Indian people like me will just appreciate that you just learned some bit of things to say by yourself! It's great 👍
I love Mike being Indian!!! He is doing so good! Love your Hindi too😁😁😁😅😅we actually have a part in india which is near Nepal and Bhutan where the majority of the people have asian looking features! It’s the north east of India.
It's not just "Asian looking features". Our ancestors literally belong to the same Sino-tibetan Mongoloid group as Chinese. The Sino-tibetan family is divided into two subgroups: the Sinitic group(which includes the Chinese languages like Mandarin, Cantonese, etc) and the Tibeto-Burmese group(which includes all NE Indian native languages, Burmese, Tibetan, etc).
Hi from India. This was so cool, and y'all were so respectful of the cultures. I'd love to see Mike check out more Indian stuff because this was super hilarious and cute xD
@@Parvultraobtusa u fool💀why are u in every comment section repeating same shit he found Punjabi so he went with it but he was still talking in hindi tho
Super stoked that you guys tried Taekwondo. Been doing tkd since I was a kid and I'm obsessed with it. And you walked all around Korea town/Bloor street, where I've spent many weekends when we had tournaments and training camps...all the memories! So cool that Master Fong agreed to appear in your video! Enjoyed watching you guys spar XD
This is so amazing! I loved how wholesome & welcoming all the Indians were towards Mike. It makes me happy to see Indians in this video going above & beyond to help Mike experience our culture.
You guys are doing great!! At the moment, there are so much hate among us. You guys are showing that if we open our hearts, we can appreciate one another and become closer! I am a Korean and I enjoy watching your videos! All cultures and history should be respected and appreciated. Keeping the togetherness and respecting individuality are the two pillars that we should sustain in friendship. Great video!
I like this exercise of trying the other culture, not just it makes a person very knowledgeable about cultures but also increase an awareness among different cultures. Which is very much needed to defeat racism and stigmatisation.
This was so wholesome and Mike learning about Indian was so fun and interesting to watch, I'd love to see you give your parents/grandparents the DNA test to see what the out come is as well. Great jobs guys 💯💞
the ordering food challenge was so funny, esp. when you mixed 반말 (informal language) in there. its good they at least know what youre saying, i asked my international vietnamese friend to tell me how to say i love you and then tried saying it to my viet american friend and she thought i was insulting her lol tonal languages are something else. if i tried to speak canto or mandarin i would probably end up getting slapped in the face.
WoW this is a very cool and creative concept Exploring cultural beauty and having fun though it And the thing is it's not just eating You did extra steps Much appreciated 🤗
Yes, in fact Indian Northeast is filled with people with mongloid features so you wont be looking out of place. There are alot of Nepali people also working and living around but their Hindi is quite good since Nepali is somewhat derived from Devnagri so its easy for them to speak hindi while tough for us to understand their Nepali. Your words were understandable just too loud and drawn out but that's well and fine.
What a wholesome video mann! You guys were very polite towards the other cultures and blended in very well. Love yaa~ Mike I've some suggestions for you. If your spice tolerance level is low let that restaurant know, they'll prepare food keeping that point in mind. And Yes, I can assure you that India people are VERY friendly. So it's no joke that those 3 guys came back after you guys departed. 😹
So… we’re not getting to see the reaction from Edward and Sheldon the second they saw the clip of mike wearing a turban? Jokes aside, this is very heartwarming to see you guys embracing other cultures when you found out about your DNA. And even though it was a small percentage , you went and got to know it better, and that’s very wholesome to see. Well done!!☺️👍🏻
my rommie is from India and I have to say, majority of Indian ppl, including him, I've met were so friendly, warm, welcoming, kind, and helpful ❤ when his fam visited his Bua always made me a plate of food with the hugest smile 😭💗🙌 I also love Indian food nothing beats the flavours they got
0:16 the fact that Mike had like 6,93% Korean Japanese and Edward 13,92% South East Asian (Vietnamese) yet they still chose the one they represent the least 0:18 no Mike is the biggest oppa
I just love how confused lots of these people were, it was funny. Learning a new language is extremely hard, I’m trying to learn Spanish and it’s hard. I definitely would enjoy Korean and Indian culture. I find both very interesting.
Learning a new language can be easy or hard. If you start out monolingual it will obviously be harder. Likewise if your mother tongue is very different from the new language. Otherwise it can be easy, especially if there is a significant grammar/vocabulary overlap.
Eating prasadā in gurudwara was the best part. That meal is always best and heart touching coz it's not mere food but offering from God to humanity and signifies all are equal.
I’m african american and did a dna test too. And it threw me off when i saw that i had southeast asian (like filipino, thailand, india, etc.) pop up in the 1.2% of my dna. It’s crazy how mixed most of the planet is and assume based on word of mouth of what we are. If you’re curious, the rest of my dna is like 83% african and like 14-15% is european.
I like seeing Mike's Indian culture tour more lol 😆 It was so funny! I mean if you go into Nepal and Assam, India, there are more East Asian looking people in those areas lol
@@zeta5877 The entirety of India is different actually. Ladakhis are also Indians, but their culture is almost like the Central Asiatic nomads. South Indians have little in common with Punjabis. They are also Indians. Oh, I am also North-East Indian. I am a tribal too. I look Southern Chinese or Filipino, as they say.
u could pass for northeast indian, they look alot like us east / southeast asians. im somewhat in relation with them as someone from myanmar , kuki - chin - mizo related.
