I really appreciate the small details when you leave the camera, yards away to give us a glimpse and angles of how you look traveling from the outside of your home. Lol I’m sure it’s tedious having to leave your camera, run back to your vehicle home, to pass by the camera, to reverse and pick back up your camera. But I noticed it and enjoy it! Your lifestyle is definitely inspiring !!
I have to admit this guy is entertaining for the fact he is living a simple bare bones life. I can't say I could live in a minivan. But I cheer him on.
@@forestyforest Enjoy your travels and love your vids. I always tell people live "your" life regardless, however you live as long you enjoy it. Love from UK, Wokingham, never gets colder than -2 Celcius in Winter so you wont be burning through any Diesel haha All the best mate
Great video. I try to tell as many as I can to maybe get a Alcohol Stove for Emergency. One lady heat and cook with One. Its Call A Origo Stove. If I Spelled it Correctly. Saw it on Cheapreliving. Good and Safe Travels
@@forestyforest Great video! See this video about lithium charging: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jgoIocPgOug.html , they show an alternator burning at 65A.. I think you've done well going with 20A, 40A could be dangerous especially in the long run.. car alternators are designed for typical lead-acid charging that is needed after starting the engine.. and even then they wear out. If you're pulling 20A I think that's perfect, but any more will get risky.. You need a high performance alternator with temp probe. I wouldn't be heating water electrically to conserve the electrical system but that's just me. The less you draw/refill the longer your battery and alternator will last. You've figure it out so far, good job!.. Hopefully you make enough from the videos and get yourself a nice little and quiet Honda generator and use that for charging.. it's designed for that, unlike your car's alternator.
This guy sounds exactly how I thought Canadians would sound. Also people tell the guy to move, assuming he would go south.... this god of a troll goes even more north
Sammy Buckle its a western/central canadian accent. Usually people from Alberta, eastern BC, and Saskatchewan speak this way, as well as the northern communities in Manitoba and Ontario. It’s an accent that came from White Europeans and Native/First nations people living together.
I lived in a 26' trailer for 5 years working industrial in Saskatchewan, I learned a few things about winter living in a trailer and I think they will apply to you. 1 create a cover on the outside of your windows, I used foil insulation from revy, this will stop moisture from freezing on your window and then leaking down into your van. get a quilted skirt for your van, stopping the cold wind from going under the van will be a game changer for you, on the real cold times if you can get some power, put a little ceramic heater inside the skirt. keep a roof vent open to let air flow. I installed a cover over the vent to keep weather out, you can buy them at any rv store. last get a moisture collecter, they use a bag of crystals, again any rv store will sell them. love the Vids man. feel free to hit me up with any questions, glad to help.
@@0fficialnomad yes yes I agree he lives life real living doing what he likes ,not enslaved to a mortgage paying 30 years to the bank system. Getting his health wrecked working in a toxic hole workplace
"A couple of million people know about my ice cream stash now, so if you see a white van, feel freeto take a look and help yourself" In context it's purely innocent, but the sentence itself is hilariously sketchy
@@DLDrillNB yeah cus he knows no one in The right mind is going up north in that cold ass weather to take some damn ice cream lmfaooooooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣.... Hmmm challenge maybe accepted for that reward 🤔
mtbalot I find that mixing cacao powder, cereal, hemp seed, honey Himalayan mineral salt chop railings. In milk make a complete meal for most of the day. Try it out! Try out any other ingredient until you find your sweet spot.
SpearHunked confirm that it is cold or not that cold? I’ve been to the northeast quite a bit and it also gets extremely cold here in the Midwest at times
1234 that was a pretty good run down. I like to add that different priorities don’t mean one is better or worse then the other, it’s just that a particular item made it to the top/bottom of the list for the time being.
Finally a Nomad who bucks the trend and doesn’t take the easy route of avoiding the harsh conditions. I’m so sick of the same videos of 8 months hovering around Arizona, only leaving when the weather is good.
Hi . To avoid the frost inside the windows of van . I would suggest u use dehumidifier. Otherwise your van will be trapped with moisture and making deadly mould. Dehumidifier is must.
@@snowberryca i know but due to the small area and staying long time inside , moisture from breath builds up water droplets on the metallic roof. / Condensation
Can confirm! During winter camping it started dripping from the ceiling and interior lights stopped working. I had no heater nor proper ventilation, though (stuff that he has).
Don’t stop uploading . I dig these videos . You doing what I wish I could do , but I can’t do. Through your videos , it’s like I’m there . Awesome stuff brother ! 💪
I'm city folk but the Cub Scout in me tells me to pull over and harvest them deer guts for tonight's chilly. Had to be tender as all get out as it looks like she was run over by something weighing at least 80 tons (5.000 kilotons in Canadian I think) and do'in 80 mph (860 tachometers). Just say'in.
I just wanted to drop a comment to say that your videos are inspirational. I know, that word is overused, but your videos make me want to create a little escape camper for myself. I think you awaken the nomad deep in each of us. I love that you make your van essentially like an apartment. If you put the bike on the roof, you could even use that space for a washroom! Keep up the great work. We're all living vicariously through you.
@@erinkeating4582 I can't speak for the first guy, but the reason I wrote that his van is definitely not one I've seen before is not a reference to the owner's customization, but the fact that it's a Chevy minivan (which I've since looked up). At least here in the U.S. Midwest, it's much less seen than Dodge or Ford vans.
I am glad to see that your videos are getting the well deserved attention finally. I started following you because of your fatbike videos but I am so excited to watch your amazing progress on living in a minivan. I was kinda guessing that you would go north when people were telling you to go somewhere in south 😃 you seem like to challange yourself hard but you make it looks like kinda simple thing to do. Most of things you do are almost impossible to be done by a ordinary person. Great work and keep going 👍
I am English and I can tell you are Canadian because you say ' oot' instead of Out ! For 25 years I spent the summers in Germany and winters in Morocco in my RVs If I were you I would be in Arizona (My No 1 State) in winter and Canada in summer. Thank you so much , Love your videos.
In January, I'll be road tripping down to Arizona and California in my converted Mazda pickup. When I'm walking around in t-shirts, I'll think of you. Shine on, you crazy diamond.
This has got to be one of the best things I have found on RU-vid ! Absolutely enjoying your travels, commentary and little projects. Your vids have become a family watching event !! Stay safe on your travels my good sir, and keep the videos coming!!
Your bikepacking videos are the best! Keep making them. For those of us who live in urban areas and yearn to be outdoors, we live vicariously through you.
Nice to see someone not use philips head screws when they build something....Always make sure to rinse your beans before you use them.....can beans have funky stuff on them inside the cans.
Great video , sitting here in Hawaii in a pair of shorts the cold weather conditions you are going through are amazing , I look forward to seeing how you survive in them 👍
Hey! Let me know if you are still in Yellowknife, I am interested to take a look at your setup. If you need anything soldered or 3d printed, I can help you out too.
Done that highway several times. You have to be very careful of the bison up North because in a snowstorm they lay down wherever they want with their back to the wind, even in the middle of the highway. You won’t know they are there until you hit them...
I've been following your channel since your Alaska to Alberta bike tour, and I'm so glad you're starting to make it big. I like everything about your videos from the great scenery and videography to the ingenuity of your van build. I'm subscribed to a bunch of channels on RU-vid, but you're only one of two that I bother to turn on Bell notifications for. Keep it up my man!
73.9K subscribers. I'm looking forward to this time next year where I'll revisit this comment and see how much more you have. I subscribed when you were at around 2K. This channel grew pretty quick! Kudos! I remember one of my first comments saying that I'll watch the advertisements so you can get more AdSense revenue because I believe you were looking for a job back then. Hopefully you'll be able to live off RU-vid full time soon!
As soon as I can pay my bills I'm going to donate for more quality content like this. Wasn't that long ago I think you were in southern Ontario not too far from my town. Keep up the great vids.
Your videos are one of the only that I click on immediately. Good to see you're doing well and in good spirits! Looking forward to seeing those Northern Lights alongside you. :)
Holy, the gas price jumped dramatically the more North you were going. Like by 25 Cents...WoW. Highway robbery....Safe travels! Love your channel.🙏🏼👍🏼🍀👋🏼🇨🇦
This man is a inspiration. I wish I could meet you in person just stellar facts and tips and that cooking is on point. If I ever win a huge amount of money I must hire you to build me a live in van. Kinda of tired of neighbors.lol
Akiva Feinstein me too, I don’t know where he would store the summers tho because they’re heavy and bulky He’s too much like one of us Canadians not to know the benefits of snow tires - so I think he’s doing it out of economy
