Wow. I visited BC for the first time , specifically Abbotsford and fell in love. Prior to that trip, the plan was to move to Calgary from Montreal. So for me to accidentally find a video comparing these 2 cities is mind blowing. Thank you

Thank you for the information. I'm currently living in Mexico but I want to get out of here as soon as possible 😅. I'm leaning more towards Abbotsford cus of the weather though cus I'm not used to cold weather

What's the point of low cost of living if you can't secure jobs in Calgary? Me and my wife were thinking to move to Calgary but we simply couldn't score jobs in white collar industry. We got more offer letters in Vancouver area whereas in Calgary none at all in one year of applying. Many friends of us had the same issues. Cost of living is low in Calgary but what's the point if you can't secure a decent job. It means I still have more money while being in Abby due to jobs and rather be here as I am eligible for certain homes. If you are in Blue collar or trades of some sort, I have heard many people moving to Calgary due to higher pay and the demand etc. So for them it makes sense. That's just my analysis or maybe I am a bit jealous due to Alberta having lower taxes hahaha

My wife and I moved from Abby 10 years ago. We make about 5 times the money and bought a house with in a year of moving . We don't miss the rain and all drug addicted homeless

10 years ago there were lots of jobs. I remember everyone moving to Calgary. Now this is sadly not the case. Many people including myself that are in white collar Industry applied for Calgary, got interviews, but not the jobs due to heavy competition. I got more offer letters in Vancouver itself. But hey good for you though.

How about car insurance, house insurance and utilities (gas, electricity and water)? I have a co worker who moved from Vancouver BC to Calgary and he's saying those 3 categories I mentioned are much cheaper in BC. He said that housing is the only thing much cheaper in AB, everything else is the same or even much cheaper in BC, is that really true? Nice video by the way 👍

There’s no way car insurance is more expensive in Calgary. Here we have the wretched ICBC. There you can get privatized insurance. Not too sure about everything else though. Gas is much cheaper as well, no PST either (7% tax savings on most goods)

Abbotsford is a rural market. Median incomes are quite a bit lower. Any job in the $100k+ range living in Abby means you are commuting over 1.5 hours each way to Burnaby/Vancouver. There is nothing in Abby that is going to draw people there, except the one plus - It's not Chilliwack.

I live in Abby and don't travel 1.5 hrs 🙂 Corporate offices make it work for employees. Other industries, I am not sure off.

Hi, this info about driving in Calgary is not accurate. Roads in Calgary are BRUTAL !!! Mainly because of the winter. As I am writing this we have -35 C F%#K !!! The roads are in constant repairs and traffic jam is crazy. The Ring Road you mentioned is OK, however there are bak ups as well. Deerfoot (the main road) through Calgary is backed up all the time !!! Not mentioning the road repairs again !! -35 C is bad, however we get -40C to -50C almost every winter. The winters can last up to 7 months !! I lived in Calgary over 25 years (I am speaking from my own experience). We can have ice and snow on ground for 6-7 month a year ! Winters are stupid here !!!!!! No spring, no fall mainly cold !

That’s good to know! I was just going off what a buddy had told me who lived there for roughly 25 years as well. But I completely agree. I couldn’t do the weather there, I don’t care how sunny it is. -50 is a no go 😂

@@thatagentkelly It is really hard to describe in words how cold it can be in Calgary. On top of that the amount of snow that doesn't melt and sits on the ground the entire winter . Calgarians either drive on ice or snow slush. I like Abbotsford, very mild winter and it is green year round. In Calgary the grass is literaly brown after winter until late June. I agree with you 100% - the view from the ridge in Abbotsford onto Mt Baker and the rest of the mountains is priceless !! 👍❤

@@thatagentkelly Not only the weather. White collar Industry is less and now have too much people competing for them. I was able to secure more offer letters in Vancouver whereas in Calgary none at all within 1 year of applying in both cities. My friends did the same and was dissapointed as well.
