@@maameboa254 the West has lost its sense of connection and community, you have to work hard to create it. It is very isolating. In the USA the built physical environment also doesn't help because most neighborhoods developed along with the car and planning restrictions separated homes from shopping and work so they are just not walkable, unless you are in an older city you have to drive everywhere. That's when you get communities in "food deserts" where you are in the wealthiest country in the world but you have no easy access to fruit, vegetables and fresh protein. Really unhealthy. But the loneliness and social isolation is very obvious in the US. I think that's also part of the drug epidemic, people have noone to talk to and the healthcare system is set up where it is cheaper to give a patient drugs rather than talk therapy. I would be interested if Ghanaians feel less need for therapy too! Lovely to see a more human and humane society.

Ms. Vanessa, this was a very informative post. Ms. Bella being "woke" about her environment is truly a massive PLUS to Ghana and planet Earth! While listening to your interview, I became a little fixated on the references to the poverty conditions... During my scouting days, I was taught that no matter where you are, in order to live you must have SHELTER from the elements, Clean water to drink (EVERY DAY) and food to eat... I tell my children that an unshakable faith in The Creator before all those others will bridge the gaps which sometimes occur with those other three. We Americans tend to be arrogantly good at telling other people what would be better for them... In my pondering, I wonder would real help to our brothers and sisters in Ghana look like??? Years ago on a visit to a village in rural Zimbabwe, my father asked the Chief what one item he could use to improve the conditions for his people. The quick answer was a "bore hole" (well for clean water) At the time, the women and children walked several miles, each way to a river. The well made a real difference for the entire community.

This is was great. I remember growing up as a child we took out bowls to get street food and if you didn’t have a bow you get the food served in a leave. Going to the markets too people took baskets 🧺 and what you bought was wrapped in paper. Plastic was not a thing, we need to go back to those days. If you live in Ghana and you’re watching this interview please try to adopt these ways of sustainability as our ancestors have done all this while. The west is dying because of these things and now they’re trying to go back paper instead of plastic. It’s our job to take care of our environment, step by step the mentality will change. Thank you Nessa and Bella 🙏🏼

Thanks for this. In Jamaica a "helper" is the norm for certain households. I would have no problem engaging staff to help me run my home. I respect no "employer" who feels it's the "thing" to abuse their staff there is no value in it.

I find it extremely sad when black people or any other race disrespects their Helper's, Home help, Support Worker's, Helper's need to be respected and properly trained to carry out their duties with competence, confidence, diligence, compliance, health and safety. All workers need to feel respected and valued. Without these special people many employees will be lost.

I have been devouring interviews about Ghana for the past four years this was one of the best I have seen in my opinion. This hit the spot for me on so many levels. From Home decor to entrepreneurship to sustainability. It's a huge step to leave the west and its so-called conveniences for many of us (U.K for me) but this interview really showcased, The beauty in the experience of being part of a community in its truest sense. For all those people who think that Europe is the West you are wrong. The West is the spanish south America the black and mixed Caribbean and the white North America. europe shares the exact geographical location but is just north of Africa.

As someone who's worked in the financial sector before, customer service has always been there. It is how the (module) is made applicable so that any sector of our institutions and especially our local market ie a makola woman can easily applies them.

I'm in love with the idea of community and being able to say what you are thinking flat out. I am in the wrong place! Love the video thank you!

Great content! On a side note...I’m not sure if the RU-vid cc transcriber was deliberately trying being racist, but at 25:42 of your video they wrote “good slave really affordable” when you said “and it would be really affordable”. I can only imagine what ppl whose English is not proficient may be thinking as the read the subtitles.

I am so much touched, by all what you say, dear Bella. I am a German, living in CH, but please believe, me I went through the same experiences as you. I am still very much alone, I mean "alone" how you describe it. I am having a very "southern" character. I have been living in Spain and Brasil and there I was happy. I do wish you all the best in Ghana. I would love to come and see your country.

I have many clothes from my grandmother who passed away. As the oldest granddaughter. I also have Africa prints from my other grandma. Appreciate them both.

I always use my clothes as much as possible. When I clear out, my summer clothes go to family in the Ivory Coast and my winter clothes go with my friend; when she goes home annually to South Africa.

We need to improve the customer service. It's possible the workers maybe under paid and over worked. What ever the problem is customer service needs to be fixed.

Watching this has made me so happy. I am definitely learning to lower my standards, to be more open, but wholeheartedly I am so excited to experience that sense of peace again. To bring my skills and love to Ghana.

The legal system is slow on eviction, consequently, landlords want their money upfront. It will change as the legal system improves.

New subbie here! It is so apparent how much work you put into your videos and they are so lovely to view! Thank you Vanessa 👏🏾 So so sooo inspired by Bella!! It makes me so happy to see conscious people in Ghana outside of the Miami/Ibiza lifestyle Accra is becoming. I was becoming less excited to move to Ghana in the future but this content reigniting my flame!
