I'm FINALLY sharing how I prepare home-cooked meals while living in my car! Cooking food in my car is not as difficult as some may think. Of course, it takes a little longer to cook in my car vs cooking in an apartment or home, or even a van, but it's worth it to me.
I hope sharing our journey inspires you to take charge of your life and make changes now, rather than later! You're not alone in whatever struggle you're going through. Subscribe if you enjoy our content. We'll be sharing car life vlogs, travel vlogs, podcasts, and tips for living in your car. We'll also have a Journey to Becoming Debt Free series where we'll share ACTUAL NUMBERS showing how much debt is owed and have updates on our progress.
We hope you join our Simmple Enough community!
See you in our next video!

ABOUT SIMMPLE ENOUGH
We promote simple living and post videos here with solutions for saving you money and precious peace of mind!!
Living simply is all about taking back the controls of your life. No more wasting your time, mind, and money. Happiness and freedom aren't down the road for you, they're right here and right in front of you. It has forced us to admit that life doesn't HAVE to be overwhelming, stressful, or a never ending blur of work, home, work, home, McDonald's happy meal.
This channel documents our journey, as a couple, at decluttering our life and taking control of our happiness. We share Moniques Car Life experience, our journey to becoming debt free, our process of saving money to buy an RV, to eventually purchasing our own land. How we cried, laughed, and tried again. So tune in. But more than anything, enjoy a really good story about love and living.

I totally agree with the 1 delicious, healthy meal to simplify without compromise. I don't like takeout as it's too expensive and not healthy. Your videos have made my life much happier and I am truly inspired ❤️ I no longer feel homeless, helpless or unsafe. As long as I have my car, I will always have a safe place to truly call my own. I've experienced many hardships that led to homeless and your videos have changed my value of existence and potential. THANKYOU 💓 God Bless xxx

It's inspiring to see that one doesn't have to give up good food and the joy of cooking while living in ones car. I've been agonizing over what set up I would go with in order to live out of my car but yours has shown me a lot of what's possible so thank you.

This made my morning (video & finding this channel) after having an emotional morning with a narcissist. Almost done preparing my minivan for the second time (lived in it full time for a year in 2019) My eating habits are the same & is a non negotiable. This recipe will work wonders in my instant pot mini powered by my Bluetti. As I said…I swear this made my morning & has helped me to stay focused🌸 this solo female poc thanks you so much, be safe & abundant🌸💐🌸 ps, going to check out your blog today💃🏽

To my beautiful sister, I am so impressed with your set up. I saved all my money and bought a RV, but I didn’t live in my car first. However, I’m still extremely impressed with your ingenuity. I would like to make a suggestion on a purchase for you that would help you tremendously. Buy a folding flat solar panel that you can get from Amazon as well that will charger unit pretty much all day long from the sun. This way you don’t deplete your car’s battery. You can sit it right on the top of your storage rack as needed and then bring it in when the sun goes down. It will charge your unit fully every day. P.S. I’m not sure if you’re single, but if you are I would absolutely love to get to know you. Not too many people have the courage to do what they want to do in life because they are scared of everything. Someone that’s not afraid to do something that most would consider out of the norm. She is definitely someone I want to meet.
@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 3 года назад
Hi there, it's Moosa here! Thanks for the suggestion! I want solar panels in the car for Monique soooo badly! The problem is, they devour the limited space within the car, and bolting panels to the roof kills the ability to park with stealth. Since purchasing land to call home and buying an RV are our next moves, I have plans for building a solar setup that'll power-up the moon, if need be. Hopefully you'll stick around for that episode! Do you ever run into problems finding parking for your RV? How has that worked for you?

Have you ever thought about/tried cooking in a crock pot in your car? Since you have a pretty big power station, I wonder if it would be able to power a crock pot all day with no issue, since they are low wattage. I used to cook in my truck all the time when I was over the road, and a crock pot was one of the lowest watt cooking appliances you can get. I like your cooking setup. I do wonder how you mitigate cooking odors in the car since you cook inside the car? Personally I'm ok with some cooking odor, but I know some people don't like the lingering smells. Great video.
@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 2 года назад
Yes, I’ve considered a crockpot! I might get one, but for now I prefer using my camp stove because I get everything cooked faster. These days, I’ve been cooking quick, easy, meals so I can clean up and be done for the day! Keeping windows open and a fan on help minimize odors, so it has never been a big problem for me. Thank you for the comment, I’m glad you liked the video 😊
@serenityjewel

@@simmpleenough If you every want the crock pot, look at the Hot Logic. It can definitely cook but I use it to reheat my leftovers because it doesn't burn food. In the morning, I put whatever I want to eat that day inside and then I can grab lunch and dinner whenever. The mini uses 45 watts an hour. The large one uses 100 watts an hour.

You have a very nice setup. I’m getting ready to move out of my rental space and into my car. I have a question about your setup; I saw another video of yours where you show your power station charging in the cigarette lighter plug. Do you have it plugged at all times and does your vehicle allows the charging while the car is off? Thank you for sharing your experiences! Lynda
@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 2 года назад
Yes, it was plugged into my cigarette lighter. It only charges when the car is on. If you drive a lot, I don't recommend charging it every time your car is on because it killed my cigarette lighter and i had to get it replaced. In my opinion, that charger is only good for occasional charging, like maybe 2-3 times a week, a few hours each time. If you will have a refrigerator in your car, you might need something more powerful to charge your power station. That's why I ended up getting the battery and inverter setup.

@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 3 года назад
That’s awesome! I plan to make a video sharing tips. First, do your research. I watched tons of Van Life videos to see what people were putting in their vans and then I’d spend time trying to figure out how I can do something similar in my car. I would write down the products they used (goal zero power station, fridge, mattress, etc...) & put them on my Amazon wish list. Search for “living in my car” videos on RU-vid, as well, because there are more people living this lifestyle thank you’d think and you’ll get some great ideas. Figure out everything you’ll need to live comfortably in your vehicle and make a list. Also, make a list of what you don’t need. Decide what you’re going to trash, give away, and/or put in storage. You’ll be surprised with how little we need to live comfortably. Figure out how you’re going to sleep. Some people remove a few car seats (I did) to make a wooden bed platform. Some people just sleep in the front or back seat. Start saving money to purchase everything you’ll need and slowly start buying them. Every paycheck I’d buy a few items on my Amazon list until I had everything I needed. Start looking for places you’ll feel safe sleeping. Try to find places that are within a reasonable (whatever you consider reasonable) distance from the places you go most (work, school, grocery stores). PRACTICE sleeping in your car before your apartment lease is up. This helped me a lot. It helps mentally to slowly get used to sleeping in your car, rather than just doing it....at least for me. Jeesh, there’s so much more I just can’t think of it right now! Let me know if you have more specific questions. I’ll try to make a video about this soon 🙂.

@simmpleenough 3 года назад
I’m handling it well. Honestly, it hasn’t affected my life much. Before Covid, I was never around many people unless I went to the grocery store, and my life is pretty much the same after Covid (I’m a serious introvert). I don’t work around very many people, and I wear a mask if I’m near people, so it hasn’t been a problem for me. I hope that answered your question, and you’re very welcome.

What kind of Tupperware is that? That is very cool I know that once I hit the road myself I will be 100% vegan myself and it's more healthier I think. But I'm always looking for good containers to keep my food in. Do you know what the name of that container is?? I too want to cook while living on the road I don't like eating fast food and I don't want to waste money on a restaurant when I know I can cook. So I enjoyed watching your recipes as well
@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 3 года назад
I’m so happy you enjoyed the video! Cooking your own food will definitely help you save money. I feel like eating out occasionally is okay, just not all the time because that money really adds up. The Tupperware in this video is the Rubbermaid Brilliance Food Storage Containers. They’re pretty good, but leak sometimes. I’ve recently switched to Snapware Food Storage Containers and like them much better because they don’t leak. I got the Snapware at target and the Brilliance is sold at Walmart, Amazon, and The Container Store.

@@simmpleenough Good on you! I wish I had cargo on top of my car I have a 1997 Ford Escort what are you drive? I'm so wanting a van ASAP! Did you already tell me where you're located? I'm in Washington state I'm so sick of the rain, wet and cold. I've only been in my car 2-3 months now. how long have you been doing this?..I'm guessing you have more time doing this? Did you do a lot of research on your fridge? How are you keeping things cold? Do you have solar? Perhaps you have a video on this? Eventually I would like to have a fridge freezer.
@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 2 года назад
I’m currently in Georgia. I have a fridge, but no solar because I have nowhere to put the panels, plus I want to be stealth since I work in a city. I’ve been using a 12 volt car charger to charge my goal zero power station, but it killed my 12 volt outlet, so I’m getting a second battery installed in my car this month that will power it better. My Costway fridge is excellent. I couldn’t justify paying the Dometic prices. It works perfectly. Ordered it on Amazon. I have a Q&A video that answers many questions 🙂

@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 3 года назад
Each can lasts about 3-4 weeks, more or less. It depends on how often I use it throughout the week when I make tea or if I heat up my food in the car a few nights, instead of heating it up at work. I typically buy 4 at a time.

How do you keep your yeti charged?
@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 3 года назад
A 12 volt yeti charger. I’ve charged my yeti 3 different ways, so far. I’ve used the Yeti Link, which is awesome in theory, but not in practice. It hooks up to the car battery and charges it, but it was faulty and wouldn’t always charge. The next best thing is a 12 volt car charger (link to it should be in my description box). I show it in my Car Tour video. It charges from the little 12 volt charger in your car. Also, when I visit people I plug my yeti up in their garage to charge it. I just got solar panels, too, so I might try those soon. If a new and improved yeti link is released, I’ll probably buy it. It was AMAZING when it worked. I’d get 350-500 watts inputting in my yeti. A quick run to the grocery store would give me 20%-30% more power. The 12 volt inputs about 50-60 watts.
@simmpleenough
@simmpleenough 3 года назад
Also, if you, or anyone who reads this, tries the 12 volt charger, don’t overdo it. I would charge my yeti every chance I got and it blew my 12 volt car charger. Don’t use it several times a day, every single day.

I look for large shopping plazas and go the the empty side of the plaza, near the bushes. From my experience large shopping plazas always have an empty area and they usually have bushes near the road or sidewalk. I used to go to parks, but they are too crowded for me, even on weekdays.

I have a small folding table in my rooftop cargo and I do watch Mav’s channel! I didn’t like cooking with that table because too many people stared at me, lol. I like the privacy of cooking in my car. I have a new setup where I don’t even have to stand outside when I cook now. I’ll show it in an upcoming video. At the moment, I don’t want a van. I’m happy with my car, but I might change my mind in the future, so we’ll see. Thanks for the comment and the advice.
