I’d replace the coffee table with an ottoman. It would be softer for a toddler. You can always put a tray on the ottoman if you need a hard surface. 😊

Put a narrow long sofa table behind the couch or a narrow bookshelf. You can place drinks on it when you’re on the couch. Don’t get a coffee table, try to find two more ottomans just like the one you have next to the tall bookshelf. Bonus if they have removable tops so you can store toys and baby items.

Change out the coffee table for an ottoman. Can accessorize ottoman with a tray to set decor and drinks. Tons of styles, shapes and storage options. Was tired of grandkids banging their heads and busting a lip on coffee table.

Replace coffee table with an ottoman with storage for toys. Don’t be afraid to cover the sofa with a blanket or quilt and remove when company comes❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I would change out the coffee table and drapes. Go with maybe a dark color pulled from the rug or that green color for the drapes. This would ground the room.

it's so fun to see how other people decorate! Personally, I love bright colours, wallpaper and strong patterns, but I always find that a cohesive interior has a calming and welcoming effect whether it suits my taste or not. This little corner makes you want to lie down on the couch under a blanket and watch a good movie, or sit with a cup of tea and a couple of friends!

I like the ottoman idea for a coffee table too And use a large tray for drinks and decor etc when baby is not around

As a mom of three little ones, I personally don't think a coffee table is a good idea. Ours was always in the way, and even though it was round...my kiddos were constantly bumping into it and getting hurt. It's just not worth it in this season of life! But overall, your space looks great! Very homey and cozy 🙂

I have an ottoman. It’s very soft basically the same as the sofa. I feel it would be kid friendly alternative. But I don’t have children. ** Just saw Ashley’s comment now. 😂

We replaced ours with a little round side table that goes between our couch and recliner. Much safer and takes up less space!

Your living room is beautiful! Don’t forget to anchor the bookcase to the wall if you haven’t done so already. Your baby will soon be climbing or trying to climb everything and book cases can easily tip over

Consider adding a large round tufted ottoman as the coffee table. It would add great texture and shape plus it would be baby friendly. Love the makeover!!!

Love your new bookshelves! When your baby arrives, you could put wicker baskets in the bottom of the bookshelves and use them for storing toys. 😊

Feel like a living room looks unfinished. I'd fix. Had round edges good for children. Lots of times my kids, grandkids used coffee table to play and if needed more floor space was small enough to move to side, which since yours small would work. Also attractive.

I vote keep the coffee table bc the round edges will be nice for toddlers. I had two little ones, and I liked having a coffee table at the time bc they would always play on the table. And also run around it. Then if we did floor play, I just moved the table to a corner until evening when I put it back for my night routine :)

We got rid of our coffee table and love it! We have two small ottomans that can be easily moved around and also can be used for additional seating.

I’m obsessed with the updates! The rug and chairs have to be my favorite! We don’t have a coffee table currently, just a couple of side round tables to hold a drink and remote. I just love the space in front of the couch to be open so little ones can play on the rug easier.

Ashlynne your livingroom makeover is beautiful! Your new couch is my favorite change. The wood of your coffee table is beautiful! I’d keep it if it can be fixed and made safe. What is it that you’re using to adhere your photos to your gallery wall? Also it was nice to see Christopher’s playful side. I can picture him playing dress up with your children. You guys always have the coolest costumes.

Beautiful! Very tasteful! Just one piece of advice: with a little one on the way, you will have to child proof your house, so that bookcase must be anchored to the wall!!

It turned out so nice! Love it! Beautiful colors! I would change the coffee table to another style and maybe to another color. I think the wood is a bit too red. If I would keep it I would have painted it and of course made it stabilized.

I think I’m with you on that! But with a baby on the way, I’m thinking an ottoman might be the way to go. No sharp corners for them to run into that way 🤍🤍

artistic and elevated! Nice job. As far as the coffee table goes, corners can be dangerous for toddling babies. Would you recommend oval or circle or a long ottoman. Mama of four 💙

Love the new space! With a little one on the way, I would recommend the tierd/stacked smaller coffee tables that can sit to the side of the coach and be brought out if needed when guests are over!

What a beautiful space (before AND after). You did a great job. I'm wondering if that bookcase would work if it were centered on the wall? Also, I think I need those coffee table stems. I passed them up at Hobby Lobby, and NOW I love them! And that rug... and those chairs... and and and!😍

As a mom of 7, coffee tables were the #1 culprit of forehead goose eggs. End tables between furniture pieces work nicer to keep walkways clear for wobbly little feet. While not as esthetically pleasing, anything that makes mom life a bit easier is appreciated. And this time goes quickly.

I too am obsessed with how your place looks Ashlynne!! 😍 You have such an amazing eye for interior design - I love everything about it! I also love how you and Christopher are both so creative and such talented artists! With the coffee table I would just keep it until bub is crawling around, maybe then you could fix it and sell it? If you do get another coffee table I would definitely go for a round or oval one (no sharp edges!). And also, if you haven’t already, make sure the bookshelf is anchored to the wall. Also, you looked so stunning in that dress at the end - pregnancy looks so good on you 🫶🏼

Hi. Keep the coffee table: it has round edges - safe for children. One thing I've learned with my children is they grow up fast: keep what you love, because soon you can reintroduce the "unsafe" itens.

I would paint the coffee table black and try repairing the leg. But, I see lots of comments giving the option of an ottoman. I think they convinced me! It would be easy to move and create bigger play spaces for your baby, and when you want to use it as a "table" you could add a tray.

It looks wonderful! I would get a black coffee table that would tie in with the bookcase as well as be safe for the baby. My only other recommendation is replace some of the framed pics with other kinds of decor so it is not all pics in frames.

I love the ivory fabric ottoman with the wood waterfall tray over it. If you Google that, you would see it from Wayfair, West Elm, or Bed-Bath-& Beyond.

I'd totally get rid of the coffee table. Get a matching ottoman. You are brave going with a light color couch and rug with a little one coming. 😊 I like the bookshelf. Very nice, Ashlynne!

Haha well the rug has so much color and pattern, integrated in it, that I am pretty hopeful about it, hiding any stains 😅 And the couch covers are all washable (and you can buy them individually if they need to be replaced). So I was trying to think ahead at least a bit 🤍

I LOVE that idea, but unfortunately that corner really doesn’t get much natural light, so most bigger plants just wouldn’t survive

Our toddler is fine with a coffee table, its a play table. (But we can't have anything remotely like a stool) We'd never get rid of ours as my grandfather and grandmother both made it ❤

My house was in shambles first year my baby was born. She climbed the bookcases i had to get rid of everything. She is 4 and still jumps off the couch onto the Ottoman lol she is a rough one 😂

Did a great job redesigning your living room. The only thing I really don't like is the pillow on the ottoman. It's too big. Put it on one of the green chairs. And when you style, your item should be grouped in threes, fives and sevens. I'm not sure how many items were on your coffee table. There may have been too many? But other than that everything looks lovely
