This 104 year old farmhouse needs work.. We’re going to be reframing a good majority of it. Window openings are rough, door openings are wrong, headers aren’t level. This place needs help.

I may have gotten pretty sick from fixing a really moldy roof recently. What do you do when you find water damage in a remodel and how to you keep mold at bay in your new constructions? Thanks Matt.

Looks like this is before your work out/weight loss. How’s working on the job feeling now versus what you remember then? Probably need to get on some type of routine myself.

You sorta touched on it at the end on Jay, but what do you think makes a great right hand/lead? Be interesting to see if you have an in-depth perspective on it.

Nothing but respect and admiration for you! I'm 38 and my whole life growing up my dad would tell me and my brothers "never buy a house instead go learn to build it yourself and "be free instead of locked into a mortgage for 40 years" and I never listen til he passed of cancer at the age of 50 now iam a general contractor in long island New york and run my own crew and I can't even tell you how invaluable your videos are for a guy learning and coming up on his own starting with no money and nothing but hard work and a lil know how and a bit of luck and now iam just starting to land the bigger jobs and build in the Hamptons and start flips of my own. Your series on reading blueprints is awesome!!! And I tell my wife all the time I wish I lived closer so I can pick your brain on running a quality business still a huge learning curve for me. I say it all the time I'm most at peace when I'm working and swinging a hammer it's when I'm doing the back office stuff that makes me wanna throw in the towel lol keep up the great work you are an inspiration matt .God bless

The bearing on your router bit is a ball racer guide. It is not sealed and not self lubricating. If you put a couple drops of fine oil in it regularly and give it a air blow now and then - it will last way longer than you get out of it presently.

Your DeWalt nail gun is designed to stop when three or four nails are still in the magazine. Stopping at three or four avoids shooting the very last nail because it will jam. What you're supposed to do is load another sleeve of nails behind the three of four then continue nailing.

It doesn't like doing it that way either. Mine has been very picky about what nails it shoots too. Ironically after buying 5000 dewalt nails I found out it won't shoot Dewalt nails. It's a fantastic gun when it works, but it can be super finicky.

BTW, I really enjoyed the farm house series. Watching a "remodel" instead of new construction has been informative.

After years of following MBW .... I just LOVE the "No Nonsense" Matt. There's this fury in the way he gets the job rolling ... like an experienced builder that has to build a house for his ex-wife ... OR he's furious with the previous builders that make ReModeling more time consuming then New Build. Always a BIG fan Matt. Thanks for all the vids!

This has been a great series! You should come to Florida to see the framing project I'm on now with huge steel beams supporting the floor. You'd love it.

I have a similar shoring detail coming up. How did you determine not to use a beam vs. just nailing 2x's into the rafters? Subsequently, why nails over screws, since you have to disassemble?

I use a router for a living ? I am a finish carpenter / cabinet maker (smaller cabinet jobs not a production cabinet shop). I say that Matt to say this ? If you want to reduce the number of bits you buy do this? Move to a mid size router (2 1/4 hp) and only Chuck 1/2” shank bits? “Infinity makes some serious compression bits I use w/double bearings or spend extra you don’t need to and buy “Whiteside compression bit”! U use that combo and I will bet my best “Faber Castell 9000 2B” Pencil your spending spree on bits end! Trim routers (which I use all the time) were never met to do that with a 1/4” shank spinning on an underpowered router. therefore u burn up bearings and eat thin carbide tipped bits! Worth a try? If it works please mention my name ? On 2nd thought I just hope it helps brother!

@rulowth4815 yes the makita is definitely better than the dewalt but it's still only 1/4 " shank the metabo is a beast and does 1/2" or 1/4" and is every bit as strong as my plug in routers and it plunges

For a framing labor bid. Can you get a valid number by square foot? (15 or 20 dollars a foot) or is it more involved than that?
