I've seen Buckin use steel brake line tubing and cut it into small rings to take up the space in a Stihl bar onto a husky. I need to try it out. Ya got me Tinman!!!! I snagged a 44 off Ebay the other day. Ive Been looking for a decent priced small saw like a 346xp for a couple years. Then you showed a 44 and my mind was made!

Thanks for the video :) maybe other method would be to add few more links to the chain? Do you maybe recall what were the lenghts of the bars? If 24" then maybe a 86 link chain would work and no bar drilling would be neccesary?

weve done it in the 1970s 80s 90s dad was a shop teacher and ran the sawmill on weekkends.chainsaws were very expensive for the times and parts were not easily on hands and the parts man at the saw shop needed to know his stuff because when you drove 125 miles to the bush and both your huskies bog out at 30 below and the skidder is idling and both saws wont fire up ya u want to run em over with the 230 timberjack lolo.

You don't have to elongate the groove for the studs if you add one drive link to the chain. 28" stihl takes 91 drivers, hjsqvarna is 93, 92 is the happy medium.

WRONG.........it's called improvising, you'll learn about it if you get Sorta serious with saws one day!! Also, not everyone lives in a major town......if you live in a VERY Rural area, you might Only have a Stihl or Echo dealer, and if you're doing Lots of cutting, it's easier to just convert the Saw........as not everyone can just "click" on ebay and order chains and get a Box 5 days later...........many places in America still takes VERY long to get UPS or FedEx deliveries....and NOT worth it, easier to just run to a Local dealer.
