The stress of loading the Airstream on the Blackball Ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles was real! The process is run efficiently enough but the ferry is significantly smaller than the BC Ferries we took to Vancouver Island. This was a very tight squeeze. This was one of those moments we were especially glad to be in the smaller, maneuverable Airstream. The larger rigs did fit but loading our fifth wheel would have definitely been more challenging.
We could not get poor Silas out of the truck and we worried about people squeezing between vehicles (with bags, children, drinks, etc) may accidentally scratch the Airstream or truck.
It is mandatory to stay above deck on this crossing so hustle yourself up those stairs and claim one of the large booths by the windows! Availability is limited but it is the most comfortable area for the crossing.
At this point in the trip, we have been moving every 3 to 4 days for months. We were pretty tired, we were so sad our time in Canada was over and we were excited to be closer to seeing our family and friends that we had been missing all summer!
We were so ready to get to our next campground in Olympic National Park and spend the remainder of the day resting…..:BUT…… that is not how our day played out! Come back next week to see where we went wrong.
