Hi Yannie This is Angela you may not remember me, you told me about changing my diet, getting rid of sugar and detoxing my body from parasites and introduce me to food grade oxygen peroxide and it healed me in many ways most people wouldn't believe and im doing much better with my health and i got married to the man i use to talk to you about. Thank you for everything you truly helped me in my healing journey.

when I combed out my locs, the sheer amount of buildup was abhorrent. If I were to loc my hair again, I would not use ANY products! Not even traditional shampoos or conditioner, none of it... I hope everyone with locs and who styles locs (beauticians) watch this channel. This is what you are doing to people's HAIR! You are a blessing Yannie!

When you talk about build up to some of these “locticians” they tell you that if you have build up its YOUR fault and them using products on your hair every 4-6 weeks can’t cause any issues. First of all, they try to convince you that you can’t do your hair yourself so you HAVE TO go to them to do your hair. Then, they do all these things to your hair and when it breaks off they charge you an arm and a leg for a “loc repair”. There’s a salon that “specializes” in locs, I went there when I was a loose natural and I saw them putting large amounts of conditioner on locs. I can’t subject myself to that. My locs are my crown. I’ll take care of it just like how I take care of the rest of my body.

I always appreciate when your clients are not defensive about using products in the past. We all make mistakes and have to learn how to take care of our hair especially if no one else we know has locs. I’ve learned so much from them (and you)!

I took your advice and used the Dawn lemon dish soap to wash my hair. OMG... I thought my locs had fallen out they felt so light afterwards LOL I’ve had freeforms for about 6 years now and I’ve only used ‘natural’ shampoos and oils but there was still a lot of gunk in my hair from those shampoos. Thanks again, Yannie for your expertise ❤️

I just wish you were around via RU-vid 14 years ago. I made so many mistakes with my locks, for the first five years before I scaled all the way back. How they are now full and healthy to my waist is PURELY by the grace of the ancestors 🤣. I'm laughing, but its highkey the truth.

I’ve read that some oils also go rancid after a long time so we gotta be careful about the shelf life of oils, they aren’t meant to sit in your hair that whole time. I hope you get nice fresh locs!

Only products I use on my locs, wash my hair with cream of nature detangled conditioning shampoo. And medicated sulfur 8 on scalp. My hair/locs are healthy . And my locs grow fast. I started my own loc journey. I only have 25 gorgeous thick locs. When I retwist, 15 minutes. Soooooooooo happy

It’s gross what happens... all of the product buildup in our hair and tbh it happens even without locs. So many things are touted as natural but even natural things leave build up. For myself, Shea butter is a no, my hair holds it like it will never eat again. I’m so glad we are working to understand ourselves better

Yo, I love Yannie. This is my 3rd set of locs ever in life and I got away from product yeaaaaaaaaaaaars ago. I am a semi-freeformer and I wash my hair when I want, dry, pull apart and keep it moving! I may use a light "grazing" of oil on my scalp here and there, but when I want and need moisture, I simply take a couple handfuls of water and moisturize my scalp like that! NOTHING ELSE! Bless you Yannie and keep blessing those scalps for those that are in need of help. I see so many bad sets of locs gunked up with products that its ridiculous!

ITA, people should ask their stylist what products they are putting in their hair. But most people do not have the guts to do that in case they offend the stylist. But it's the right thing to do since you're paying for it.

One day I want to be able to fly out so you can tell me how to care for my locs. I have no issues with my scalp. Just want you to blessed these locs. Anyway, you mentioned to ask these stylist what they put in your hair. They act so secretive and are so defensive when you ask. So, the last time I’ve been to a stylist was in November and I have not been since. I retwist we my hair myself a month ago and then I two strain twist it. I have no one to go to anymore and I am not pressed. I am enjoying the freedom from being in someone’s chair while they try to experiment their mystery product in my hair.

I spray my locks with aloe vera juice and/ or rose water regularly. I sometimes add vitamin e to my scalp. Is that okay? Also, I've watched several of your videos, hoping to hear you say what to use when resisting my hair. Can you tell me what I should be using for the re-twists. I make flax seed gel and use it. Is that acceptable? Lastly, how often should I resist. I usually wait several weeks, or even a couple of months before I do. I shampo with the peppermint soap. How often should I shampoo or resist. If I'm doing anything right, I got it from the Yannie videos. If I'm doing anything wrong, I haven't been able to find the answer to it in the videos. Not because it isn't there, but because I either missed it or misinterpreted it. So I'm asking these questions for clarification and information. Oh, I use Henna to color my hair, so if you can speak on that, I'd appreciate it also.

I have just started my fourth loc journey in my 60 years of life since I always cut them off after some life changing event to embark on a new level of my life. I'm a firm believer that your trees are a part of your Spiritual center, and whatever affects your life also lodges in your hair, so that is why I have cut it off 3 times before. I DO use a very lite, organic leave in conditioner that allows my scalp to breath. I also use a tiny bit of melted Shea Butter when twisting my hair. Since it hasn't locked yet, I will refresh my scalp and twists with a Peppermint infused dry shampoo spray. My hair is curly/wavy and takes awhile to loc all the way. Is there anything I'm doing incorrectly since you advocate NOT using products? Yanni, I really respect your opinion.
