Thanks for this! Got everything apart and it turned out not to be the issue, but reassembling it got rid of the wobble so winning after all! Gave me the confidence to win my first 3 races back too!!!
Cheers! My sons wheel had a wobble. Resolved now thanks to your clear and steady video. Our issue was with the 3 long silver screws through the middle of the spindle. Slightly different to yours, but you helped troubleshoot. Thanks again. Happy driving!
Thanks so much man, fixed my wobble without having to take it apart and figure it out for myself. Like someone said in the comments, Dirt rally is killing this wheel...
@@Iron266 I meant that I didn't have to figure out how to open the wheel by myself, instead I just followed this guide and easily figured out where did the screws come loose...
@@PaulinhoThompson Dude COME ON !!!!! I've returned THREE WHEELS to the store and every time it came with the same wobble. Jesus fucking Christ I can't thank you enough. I thought I would have to live with this shit forever. THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Thank you so much for this video. Didnt have any wobble but needed to remove the clamps to replace them with extra long 3D printed ones to fit onto my extra-thick desk. This video was by far the most useful for the teardown, so it's appreciated!
I'm experiencing quite a bit of wobble as well, with a G923. Might be a good opportunity to remove the clamps and add a custom wheel rim whilst fixing this issue all in one go. Thanks for the video!
So I've been following along step by step. Got down to where you remove the paddle shifters and I don't notice the wobble on the shaft. I'm gonna go ahead and finish taking it apart and making sure all the screws are tight. Thank you for making an easy to follow video.
@@PaulinhoThompson thank you. I went over all the screws that you showed to double check tightness and put it all back together. Minimum wobble like you showed so I think I'm all good. Thank you once again.
Very Good tutorial. Remember guys put the screwdown plastic knobs INSIDE the top cover before you put the top back on. I got it all back together and had to take it all apart again. Ugh. Also you may as well tighten every screw you can see. I found a bunch of loose screws in different places. Basically a bolt check everywhere.
You, my man, are a life savior. But before I mess around with mine, I think I'll wait until the warranty ends in june. At least I already found a good video to guide me on that.
My G29 didn't have the wobble issue, but i was trying to solve my clunk issue when hitting the full lock. This video just helped me, where which screw came from where.
This comment is so overdue I finally decided to fix mine It got to the point where I couldn’t take it anymore, so today I went at it and was done in 15 minutes!! Perfect, you’re the man!!
Absolute legend thanks! I had three loose screws under the wheel boss. No need to dismantle it after I tightened those. You’re a superstar for uploading this clear and helpful video.😋👍🏽
Thank you so much bro, I got a full size wheel adapter running an deep dish wheel for dirt rally and was literally feeling like it was gonna fall off last couple months I'm not exaggerating it was literally nearly hanging off 😂. Took it apart and found it was only being held in by 1 screw not 3, no idea how that has happened as it was brought new from Amazon, added the new 2 screws and tightened the original one and it's like brand new no more loose wheel.
My brand new G29 had also quite a big wobble. Strangely enough, when disassembled, i didn´t found any loose screw. Everything was tight from factory. So when it was all disassembled, i at least added some more lubricant to all the gears and oil into the top bearings under the brass pinion gears. When assembling - you need to apply Loctite on the black screws holding gearbox in place - at least on the four that are at bottom of the unit - there are tightened agains plastic so they can´t be tightened with a big force otherwise plastic under the screw cracks. Well after assembling it - wobble simply disappeared, wheel is now tight and feels great. Don´t know where the problem was but it´s gone.
Thanks so much, I haven't had the wheel long and I thought it was faulty but the screws the hold the wheels to the hub were a bit loose, really good video. Thanks 👍
Thanks man it’s really worked! After taking it apart the motor mounts where perfectly secure so I just put the wheel back on and it wasn’t wobbling so I guess the part where the paddle shifters are was loose. Super good tutorial, Thanks!!!
Absolutely brilliant. My G29 had a significant amount of wobble. I thought it was just wear and tear, and could not be fixed. You're a genius. Thankyou.
@PaulinhoThompson hey man, I fixed it, was the same screws in your video. I did also notice the bracket around the bearing was cracked. Everything is still working in good order so I might just leave it. Any thoughts on this? Also thank you for your video it has saved me a lot.
thanks bro this helped. Anyone who is doing this please be aware that those 4 black screws on the bottom. DO NOT REMOVE THEM. It will cause the wheel to jiggle and the black plastic piece that keeps the wheel from spinning endlessly could move. I found out the hard way. Thanks
Video helped a lot ! My situation was a bit different though, the steering wheel itself was loose connecting to the driving shaft. So I just tightened down the three long/large phillips head screw in an alternating fashion till all 3 screws were fastened. Keep in mind that you are screwing into plastic so don't over torque, you may run the risk of stripping the threading. Cheers :)
well this was interesting. took apart my wheel following your instructions (good instructions btw thank you :] ), and turns out the reason there was wobble is because there was a giant CRACK on the black part that was meant to be tightened...
@@PaulinhoThompson my parents recommended trying glue, but that introduces another risk factor of glue potentially getting into the motor. So I just tightened all of the other loose screws
Thanks for the video, well done. Since this seems to be a common issue I'm going to put a drop of super glue on the side of the screw heads that cause the wobble after I tighten the screws.
Thanks so much, even though I didn’t have a gap in the plate to the plastic like was in the video, I still made sure to tighten everything super well as mentioned and after tightening everything and adding some hardware, it’s all fixed. Thanks a ton
get some spring washers on to keep the tension on the screw as will help to stop it backing out or if you want you could use Lock Tight Thread Lock but if you ever need to take out the screw its going to be a hasle
Thank you for this, my issue ended up being the 3 silver screws holding the wheel to the base on my G920, so didn't have to take the top of the base off. Also now I don't have to mess around with trying to get my G27 wheel up and running instead, with software uninstalls and reinstalls! Haha
Thank you for making this video! I just noticed the wobble in mine recently and thought there would be some worn out bushing or something. Glad it may just be some loose screws. Edit: Unfortunately, my problem is the giant bearing is able to move around a bit inside the housing. Hopefully I can find a way to tighten that up.
Mine FINALLY let go last night after its last drift session before I switched over to an F1 car and realized how much movement there was in the base... I guess I hadn't noticed since the wheel was always spinning lol Thanks for the save Boss! I'm assuming a 2 hour job from start to finish? 1.5
Thanks for this video. I don't know if you can help me but I bought one of these wheels off a friend (he didn't look after it). It works fine and isn't wobbling but it does feel a bit "grindy" when in use and doesn't feel smooth when turning it. Can you offer any advice or support at all? Many thanks.
Hi my wheel wobble is just the outer wheel connecting to the alloy... How would i go about tightening that? As all the screws r tight, its like it needs bonding? Thanks
That's a new one on me. The wheel rim should be connected inside the center cap. You'll find different sets of screws holding it to the base, and the hub that goes to the inner part of the wheel.
Pedal wobble? G923 but it’s probably similar. It’s on all of them but only noticeable with the brake. Side to side movement that makes a click sometimes.
Mine isn't the whole centre shaft moving like yours.... just the wheel itself has come loose and wobbles, looking behind the wheel and wobbling it shows that none of the centre piece moves at all
I did like you said in the video but it was not screws holding the gear drive mechanism to the shroud that were causing the wobble but the three long screws that attach the wheel itself to the hub are causing the wobble unlike your wheel my wheel that wobbles up and down my one wobbles side to side. I have no idea how to fix it. I tried paper fittings where the screws are but they just get torn apart. maybe you can help
I don't have wheel wobble like yours. I have a loose left and right turning problem. Do you know how to fix that? If the steering wheel is perfectly centered, the wheel is loose from about the 11 o'clock position to the 1 o'clock position. I want to make that tighter but idk how.
thanks man, my wheel had a slight wobble, turns out the 3 screws what which hold the wheel hub to the drive bit were loose, also theres a pesky clip under the dial so if it dont come off then get a little bit of a angle on it, i dont entirely think it matters if the clip is broken or notcan tell the plastic for the clip is abs cause it turned white on me whoops, oh well stressed it a bit, what'ma goona do bout it, nothin.
hi i have a problem with my g29, when there is the feedback hole turning to the right the steering wheel makes a loud noise of gears, as if it were creaking. if instead i turn to the left it is silent. Do you know by chance how to solve it? thanks
@@samuelebravo4116 sounds like you're going to have to take it apart and check each of the teeth on the gearing cogs.. also check that it's well greased.
@@PaulinhoThompson I opened the whole steering wheel, I checked the gears and everything is fine, I greased everything, but the steering wheel still makes noise
DamN! What a poor design from Logitech!. My wheel is only 4 months and already giving this problem. Thx for your help. Could we find a definitive way to avoid this happen in the future. I Think it is not nice to be doing this procedure frequently.
I couldn't really understand if I was having this problem or not, by hub what do you mean? the little sorta, cylinder right behind the wheel? and is this absolutely necessary to fix? Very good video and made me less worried in the case I do need to fix it, thanks!
I have the problem that the switching display just like the shifters and the buttons don't go at all at the beginning it has already licked around when you have steered to the right at ps4 in the share menu etc. You know what the problem is this is
Even if you tighten them screws back up it will highly likely fail again soon. The plastic has weakened and became brittle. I done a vid on bolting it back together which will fix this solid its tricky but can be done without further dismantling or damaging the big internal cog . Or you could perhaps superglue the original screws back in but thats supertricky and got to be fast. Dont know how effective it would be. Other options are i hear theres a metal housing that can be bought on amazon. But thats more cost and alot more dismantling. involved. Never buy a second hand g29
Also, the tiniest part of the wheel might go awol: the ps3/ps4 switch. Not the plastic button, the real one inside. Lost it, found it, put it back (tweezers) the wrong way, gotta open up the whole thing again
@@Tacko14 dude if u play on pc it will work with no problem, anyway, you have a link where I can see the piece you mention? Just to finish with this, thanks
@@Tedybear013 Happened to mine as well, that little ⊥ slider piece is so small had to use tweezers to put it back in. But then the ⊥ slider was loose so the casing on the circuit board needed to be bent back so it wouldn't fall out by itself. It did slide side to side for PS3 & PS4 mode but the extra pressure of the bent casing caused the top piece of the ⊥ slider to fall off. Took a small pin and pushed it to the PS4/PC side and left it there.
I have a problem with my G920. It’s not the wheel it’s the power input at the back bottom of the wheel and when I plug 🔌 the power cable in it wobbles and sometimes gives off a single spark when I plug it in, also the cable of the power unit is flattened and damaged and I can buy a new for for £20 but I don’t know if the wobbly internal plug is what stops it from working. Please give me a res-ones if you can.
Great video sir, questions. Does your wheel feel stiff too? Mine seems little stiff, cant turn slow since theres like a friction in the gear. Should i put grease to it?
So after unscrewing every bolt from center piece, i was still not able to remove it, it felt like its just stuck there, did i forgot to remove a screw or something? Can i repair it without removing the center piece?
Any ideas to prevent the problem from happening again? I'm planning to repair mine here in a few days for the same issue but I'm not certain what the cause was. Whether manufacturer didn't tighten the screws or if they came loose from typical use
Hello guys, very important question: I have today unboxed my new wheel. G29. I owned a Logitech MOMO Force from 1999 and taht thing was awesome quality. But this G29 is STILL in the plastic bag. and the wheel has play. you can steer left/right of about 2mm. this play of 2mm means that there will be no forces on the wheel. the last wheel and all wheels in my life i know of do NOT have this problem. Do you also have this problem? why has a 250€ wheel play ?!
Are the bolts not tight from the factory? Just trying to figure out if it's going to happen again, and I'll be opening mine up in another 2 month. Not handy if so. Had it for 2 months and has developed bad wobble over last week.
@@PaulinhoThompson that's me done it, pretty straightforward, but the screws in the inside were all tight! The 3 long ones took a wee tighten, but I still have wobble. God knows why. Do you reckon it'll be covered under the warranty?
bro I hope you can help me with my g29, what happens is that I connect my steering wheel to the console and to the current and at the moment it has to turn when calibrating it turns to the right and stays there and starts making a noise but only three times, It does not calibrate to the left and it does not re-center and the green light that is at the top where it says ps3 and ps4 blinks and something else when I connect it to the pc the program does not detect the rotation of the steering wheel you know what cable could be wrong so that it does not detect the turn of the steering wheel? PLEASE
Hi man, i dont have problem with wobble.. but when u picked up my wheel and turned it upside down and little screw fell out (broken in half), do you know by any chance where it might be from ?
