Lollipop 240
Today I take on the longest distance and probably toughest challenge I’ve had to face, the Lollipop 240 FKT. The decision was made last minute to do this route due to the recent cold snap hitting this weekend. Additionally, I have a full race schedule this year, and with the weather being so unpredictable, I don’t see a chance for me to take on this route for at least another year. While I didn’t have any time to taper, I’m in the best shape of my life, and think I will be able to complete this challenge.
Some details below:
• Distance = 243 Miles
o 62.5 Miles Outbound on Lake to Ocean trail
o 118 Miles around lake O. (LOST)
o 62.5 Miles Inbound on L2O
• SELF-Supported meaning:
o Supply drops on L2O Trail
o Stroller around Lake O, plus convenience store stops if needed
o No outside help, not even someone meeting me at the lake to offer words of encouragement
• Goal = 72 hrs
o 16 hrs on L2O Outbound
o 36 Hrs around Lake O
o 20 hrs L2O Inbound
• Previous Challenegers:
o 2 Supported runners have completed this loop:
o Andy Croom
o Luis Cocco
o 4-5 other attempts have been made at a self-supported FKT, non have succeeded, although Michael Strezinski came close.
