Yeah, there's something that The Rock left out in his video on social media. He said he wanted Cody to step aside, to let him wrestle Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 40, and Cody agreed to that. Yet, Rock didn't tell the audience that he agreed to wrestle Cody, for that spot against Roman. Did you notice, Rock said no last Friday on Smackdown in response, to Cody challenging him at the Elimination Chamber ? Maybe, Rock can be exposed as going back on his promise.
Long term booking needs well placed talent positioned to readjust the aim of the spotlight to stir together the various fan-bases to keep attendance and viewership. I think we're at an interesting time to see if the company can blend it all together. The roster is strong right now.
I love it. Yes Cody struggled like a lot of good faces. The journey is incredibly important but if you don't stick the lading. I want Cody to win desperately at Mania but the storyteller in me would love to see Cody fight Roman in Madison Square Garden on September 26, 2024, 47 years to the day. This is almost too perfect a scenario with perfect timing on the perfect stage not to do. Hope HHH considers it. The fans idea of what this "long term booking" at least in this scenario is that they believe that getting the title of Roman now so that they can build Rock vs Roman for next year. That's what they think will work and they use the first Rock & John Cena build as an example. Sure, in that case it worked, it doesn't guarantee it works all the time. Who's to say the interest is going to be there a year down the line. Also the booking idea you suggested at the beginning of the video is a much better idea as opposed to fans trying to fill in the blanks just based on what they're seeing on TV
If that is what the fans want, I have yet to see anyone, but you vocalize it. Meaning this might just be yet another example of fans filling in gaps to justify what they want. Additionally, this is a direct response to people who claim that the Rock can not be a part of Long Term Booking. If you do not believe that, then you have nothing to worry about
The disintegration of the Bloodline is the next long play story. What if Sika shows up on Wrestlemania and tells his son that Roman has held on to the title by cheating, and that the real Tribal Chief is Rock, because Roman has shamed the family? What a pop that would get.
Nope nope. You're going to have to make Roman reigns the good guy in The Rock the bad guy. The Rock should try to take over the bloodline because he is the elder and since he is the elder there is a good claim of him being a tribal chief. This is where Roman reigns will get pissed off because he is trying to undermine him
Dude, Austin is old and has a well documented history of neck issues. He was never gonna come out there and take bumps every week. @@jbellflower83 I know. It was a nice surprise but had Owens said something like “I have the best stunner in sports entertainment” and then be confronted by Steve, it would have been better. If Owens never had the stunner, there would have been no reason for those two to face each other.
To take your long term booking doesn’t mean long reigning champion further. There is such a thing as losing the patience of your audience. In a vacuum the scenario you pitch is fine. If we weren’t four years into a heel title reign. The people at a certain point need their moment of catharsis and Rock coming in and doing it is not going to be satisfying for the fans watching every week.
I don’t think Logan Paul works well as a counter argument, I get why you chose him but he has his own problems and controversies that existed and extended beyond WWE; his heat is go away heat akin to X-Pac in the 2000’s, Dominic I feel is a better example here because in spite of the strong visceral reaction and heat he has, he doesn’t seem to bring much to the company in terms of revenue or singular popularity in of himself as Rhea Ripley is always brought up when Dominic is in the convo, hell he even feels like a fifth wheel on Judgement Day.
Have the rock win the championship at the 2025 Royal rumble I didn't have him drop it to Roman reigns at WrestleMania 41. Short-term storyline we all want.
My issue was never about him dethroning Roman, but the fact Cody not the Rock won the Royal Rumble. If they wanted to do it. Rock should have won it. It would devalue and make the Royal Rumble almost pointless to watch and my time watching it as a wasted event.
As I said Cody is more over now theen he would have been if he just won thw Rumble and beat Roman without the Rock. We forgot how much fan complaining we got just a year ago
@@DaveKnowsWrestling I would have preferred Cody to have just won last year. I personally think long title reigns are over rated. I am fine with it if you have a guy so over like Hogan was back in the late 80s. It is rare to have that. My thing is don't undermine a chief premium live event that is one of the most watched for the one reason. The winner goes on to face his choice at Wrestlemania. The package the WWE put up last year saying Cody had to get that title. Well, it made it no other way.
Again as I've said numerous times. The Bloodline is about family so it should conclude with a family member. And the "story" that Cody is supposed to finish somehow morphed from winning the title at MSG to now dethroning Roman Reigns at Mania after his second try for some reason

Cody Vs. Roman is the long-term booking. Nobody had a clue that The Rock would be involved in the story a year ago. Cody winning the title at Wrestlemania is the only outcome that the WWE can benefit from for many reasons. 1.) Cody Rhodes brought in a brand new fanbase that The Rock never could. 2.) These fans are here for Cody, not Roman, not The Rock, so Cody losing would only cause those fans to give up and never come back. 3.) The Rock and Roman Reigns are from a by-gone era.... The WWE Needs new blood around these belts. But finally, just like Steve Austin winning the belt at mania 14 kicked off the beginning of the rise of the WWF and a new era. Cody, winning the belt would be the perfect kick-off to this post Vince era (The Renaissance Era?).
Look at the TV ratings and the attendance figures over recent years. Where are these new fans you claim Cody has brought in? It's about the same as it's always been. Except when the Rock is on then it's higher. Also look at who has the social media record. It's the Rock. Cody is doing well but he's not bringing in new people at all
Cody did not bring in a new fanbase. Also, Cody is not new blood, he's pushing 40, just like Roman is. As Dave pointed out, Cody's numbers don't reflect that

Yes, The Rock coming back helped for a RU-vid video or two. but before that, Cody was carrying both the company and its new fanbase on his back. Lets talk about ratings vs. engagement. The only reason The Rock has what he has right now is because of his engagement with Cody Rhodes and Cody's story. Where are all these fans coming from? RU-vid, X, Social Media and most of all....Peacock. Who are these fans? The super casuals. Cody is by far the most accessible pro wrestler in the world today. I can understand The Rock is a cool nostalgia act, and I feel a Rock Vs. Roman match would be interesting, but just kind of just saying its going to happen because the guy is on the board of directors isn't really a selling point. The Rock knows his role. We know his role. Its to get us to forget about Vince McMahon.

Honestly, I never could stand The Rock. I never understood his appeal. Anything involving him after 99 sparked zero interest with me. In my opinion, he had a good few years, but that's about it. Once he went into acting (If you can call what he does acting ), he should have stayed gone.
