Thank you for taking the trouble to let us all know about this. Hummingbirds, LOVE red tubular flowers and this one is covered in lots of gorgeous bright red ones that humans find irresistible too. For anyone that wants to secure a few plants to enjoy, here's a link that will show you where all the partnering garden centers that carry our plants are located: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/

Hello I am a Wheeler and I have just purchased my first lonicera today. I am living in SC now and I purchased this lonicera because the foliage is variegated a green with blue silver streaks. It was the only one so I am anxious to see if it will hold as it was in a lightly shaded spot. Just beautiful foluage though. Loved your video.

Thanks for your nice comment. This is a really lovely selection and one that should do well for you. Have you subscribed to our channel yet? If you haven't, you might like to think about it, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), you will find that they will turn up automatically in your feed. And, as you find our videos helpful, it would be great if you could kindly share the links with your friends and click the "like" button too, because that will help other people find out about the information as well. And, now that we are in the midst of the main planting season (spring through late Fall) we try to encourage everyone to visit our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/. They are located all over our Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern region, and that's where you will find all sorts of beautiful, tried and true and cutting edge, top performing selections, so be sure to stop in regularly throughout the seasons because there will be a steady stream of fresh shipments coming in weekly.

The Lonicera is gorgeous and just what we need! Also that rose at the beginning of the video is magnificent. What is it?

Thanks, it is great that you spotted this wonderful Honeysuckle. We think you will be very happy with it, and hopefully you (and your hummingbirds) will be able to enjoy it for many years. The rose is one of the 'Miracle on the Hudson' selections, probably 'Coral Miracle'. Here's link to one of our other videos (also on this channel): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LPWPmvwqfdc.html that will explain more. Have you subscribed to our channel? Finally, now that our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ are fully stocked with fresh new plants, if you live in our Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern region be sure to stop in and take a look…. Because that’s where you will discover all sorts of beautiful, tried and true and cutting edge, top performing selections including some wonderful (non-invasive) Honeysuckles and superior performing roses. The only thing to bear in mind is that not very center carries every variety that we grow, so it may be wise to call ahead. And if anything that you are interested in, is not in stock at that moment, ask the center.... If you order them, can they try to obtain them for you?

I think this might be the one to plant in the Spring. Hardy and compact, should work well on a trellis I have in a sunny spot.

That's great. In a little while (when they start to grow out and form flower buds), we will be sending them out to the partnering Garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ that have ordered them. When that happens you can go along to view the plants for yourself, and perhaps pick out the one that appeals to you most.

Hi there and happy spring! I do enjoy your videos 😊 - I actually have a question about a different honeysuckle you did a video on many years ago - MANDARIN - I planted 2 this spring up an arbor and they are gorgeous! Wondering if I should dead head the spent flowers as they are going to seed (berries?) to promote more blooms (I already have new blooms on the way on new growth) or would deadheading promote too much branching and tangling on such a vigorous vine? What are the berries like? Thank-you! 🙏

It is a good idea to do some pruning, not so much to prevent seed development (because this is a sterile hybrid that doesn't set seed), but rather to encourage it to be well shaped and sprouting from the base and lower down, rather than all up at the top of the plant where the eye-catching tubular flowers (than hummingbirds love) would be carried. It is a vigorous grower that in time without trimming, would carry most of its flowers way up at the top of your arbor. Trimming back some of the stems lower down, will encourage it to sprout new growth (lower down) that will furnish the base and sides of your arbor, and therefore have flowers where you and the hummingbirds can enjoy them. Occasionally, you might see some small green fruits begin to form after the flowers fade, but these do not have seeds and therefore will not be taking away growing energy. Have you subscribed to our channel? If you haven't, you might like to think about subscribing, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), it will turn up automatically in your feed. Can this be kept in pots during the winter
@OverdevestNurseries
@OverdevestNurseries 3 года назад
Yes, but depending upon the hardiness zone where you live - you might have to overwinter it somewhere that will protect the roots like a garage or basement. It is a hardy Zone 4 plant, so the general "rule of thumb" is that in two zones warmer (i.e. Zone 6) they usually make it OK in a sheltered outdoor spot. Otherwise in colder areas the roots in the pot (which are normally insulated under the ground) will need protection.

Is this vine fragrant?

Not really, just healthy, native, growth habit and beautiful flowers that attract hummingbirds (and people's eyes).
