i think that because lorelai experienced so much trauma at such a young age, her growth in maturity was stunted. she never gets over this as we see in the year in a life. when her and emily go to therapy her immaturity really shows, and i blame this on the writers. to be honest they absolutely ruined both rory and lorelai's characters. lorelai had so much character development in the original show that they stripped her of just because. and they took away rory's success, like bruh. they should've just let the show rest. i can't believe they made that stupid year in a life. anyways, i can see how you respect and value lorelai's character. she always tries to do what's best for rory. any thoughts on this? i feel that in the year in a life they tried way to hard to make rory exactly like lorelai, which she never was.

@@daniz8460 Personally I liked Lorelais "immaturity" as it were, because it was a character trait which helped lead to her humour and likability in my opinion. As well as this, she always seemed to be able to be fully responsible whenever it was necessary, and was always a good mother to Rory. In regard to her acting out in the therapy scenes, I think a lot of that came down to the writers wanting to add in humour to the show, which it did, and as well as this, use that immaturity to lead into the storyline of Lorelai going off on her hiking adventure (which she never even started lmaooo) and telling that story about her dad to Emily on the phone (which is actually one of my favourite moments). Personally I liked the Year in the Life revival, probably mostly because Im obsessed with the show and was so happy to get more, with all the original characters and actors. I definitely agree with you about Rorys character, to me, she sort of experienced a 'fall from grace' throughout the show, with her likability declining through every season - like in the first season i loved her! she was smart and funny and hardworking and just all round a sweet girl, flash forward to later seasons, and I'd probably change my description of her to something more along the lines of spoilt, ungrateful and immature - which is really sad because she started off being one of my favourite characters. And Rory in the revival? Ugh so baddd!!! The whole affair with Logan, falling asleep during her job, the self entitlement in that job interview - i was not a fan, yet somehow it seemed right? Like it seemed like she was supposed to go through these struggles as a character, and then having this baby would be the way to mature her and bring her back down to earth! I also really like that the revival ended with "i'm pregnant" especially when you think about the fact that Amy Sherman Palladino had said right from the start of Gilmore Girls that she was going to have the show end with that line, I love the full circle it comes to! And I also believe that Logan is Rorys Chris, and Jess is her Luke! In all honesty I hope she becomes more like Lorelai, because although she had her faults, this wasn't necessarily a bad thing as it just made her more human, and i loved her character so much! Lauren Graham is amazing, such a great casting choice imop - thanks for your reply I really enjoyed it :))

@@noellecarroll I know I’m 3 months late, but this is so interesting to discuss so I’m going to add my opinion in here,. Your take is very interesting about how Logan is Rory’s Chris and so forth, and although I totally believe that whole theory is true, I would disagree with you in the way I view the theory, which for me, is negatively. I get the whole charm and appeal of Rory ending up like Lorelei, except Rory and Lorelei grew up completely differently. Rory was destined to be better and if not better, at the very least set up to where she could have a stable family, or maybe doesn’t go around cheating on her partners?? And I’m not saying having a husband, kids, a house, etc. is the best and only acceptable way to live your life, but it’s the way Rory and Lorelei are both such toxic people when it comes to relationships and they struggle to keep one because they are so problematic. Rory has no excuse to be this way, and regardless of how Lorelei grew up, she also has no excuse to be cheating on her partners either by the way. She’s grown and knows right from wrong. I was absolutely devastated when she cheated on Luke in season 7 and so easily threw everything away. I immediately lost all my respect and love for Lorelei, there’s no excusing that, and I was tired of her walking around and making decisions without thinking about the consequences. The ending of the whole show sadly didn’t bring me peace.

@@-ana_banana-2098 I think they're trying to show us the other characters perspective of her. Rory doesn't want anyone (especially lorelai and emily) to know that she can't feel anything because she knows she would likely end up homeless and cut off from the family fortune.
