Yeah add that with an awful dad who literally threw a knife at him and said "if you don't believe, kys" or the fact that they worshipped chaos secretly etc
well he did won the war... the loong war for the word beares is actually won. That is so scary about lorgars legion. They are not evil because of influence of chaos. But because they choosed to be. That is the real danger of lorgars legion. Yeah the emprium now is a shadow of what it once was. No hope... no advancements. Just a stagnation of despair. stagnation=death.
''is this about Monarchia?'' '' *Everything is about Monarchia* '' Istvaan 3 might be the place where the betrayal was made manifest, but Monarchia is where the dream of unification began to die.
This channel is awesome. However, the voices need to be deeper and almost not human sounding! Remember. They have more lungs than us and their voices are much deeper than ours. To think a 10-15 foot super human would sound like a 5'11" scholar is crazy. Vox in the void in my opinion is the only channel that has their voices down. This channel is one of the only channels that captures the emotions on point 🔥
@@klaiken989 lungs have nothing to do with voice sound. The sound of your voice depends on one simple factor: genetics. The amount that your vocal chords can get "tense" or "loose" will determine how high or low can your pitch get to, and your talking voice depends also on a lot of things. Your "standard" speaking pitch also can change easily and when you speak your voice will be deeper depending on what kind of voice resonators you are using. Being a big dude does not mean you carry a deep bass voice. It means that you will maybe have a bit more air to pull off from (bigger dude bigger lungs, in a primarch case we are talking BIG lungs) so you can support a booming voice longer or without needing to take air, it also means bigger diaphragm which again translates to more capacity to go higher in volume/longer time sustaining it. Volume is not pitch. We change pitch depending on the conversation and what we want to convey. If Lorgar needs to sound alluring and convincing he can't bash in with a bass-tone that blasts your ears but more like a mellow voice (it doesn't mean that deep voices are not soothing, it means that bellowing booming voices inspire violence). Tho afaik space marines, primarchs etc do need a "voice limiting device" to not sound like murderous giants to human beings so probably I'm wrong. But physically, being huge does not mean that your voice needs to sound like a giant's. It will be deeper probably but not THAT deep, probably because a wider bigger throat means that your voice will resonate more in your throat. But that is what professional singers usually do and don't usually do when talking, but while singing. And I asure you that a professional VO uses that technique almost always.
@hafurg Look at videos of the tallest people in the world talking. See how deep their voices are. Both men and women!!! Size matters on how your voice sounds. Have you ever seen a 5'1" girl have a voice depth of Shaquille O'Neil!? Of course not... Now imagine the same thing I am talking about. But with an even larger human that is also genitcaly altered and has extra organs. I rest my case. Space marines would NOT sound like a nornal human AT ALL!!! They would sound quite different than almost anything we would have heard
@@klaiken989 yeah bigger chest/throat means more resonance (deep voice) so it would make sense. Even so, precisely Lorgar would be more alluring (less "aggressive") specially because he wanted to convince also humans about his new religion XD can't convince people if you scare the shit out of them. Aaaand probably with some investigation you could try to do a test to see how a Marine/primarch would sound. They could get the sound that homo sapiens did just by their posture, bone cavities, etc so it could be made. And I would love to see it.
Love the performance. It really captures the pain, confusion and betrayal felt by Lorgar. You can empathise with him, even if we, as outside observers with more information that he has, knows he was wrong. Also the "Go on, finish the thought." from Magnus? Interesting performance of it. Can't tell if it's meant to be encouraging ("Go on, I'm interested in this line of thought.") or patronizing, like "Go on, keep on letting out rope, I'll verbally hang you with it soon enough."
Damn good ear brother. With the Magnus line, I tried to do it as more of a challenge, for Magnus to see just where Lorgar's line of reasoning was going.
What Lorgar would go on to do was monstrous. But Holy Shit if i can't understand where it was coming from. It wasn't just "Revenge" it was the sheer, damned hypocrisy of a God that refused to accept the clear fact of what he was.
You know, I've pondered long the line "Lorgar was a kind soul," doesn't make any sense with what he did on Cadia, giving Argel Tal and the Gal Vorbak as sacrifice, but i think I get it. Lorgar was the only Primarch to realize the full horror of the Great Crusade, to see the trillions dead, cultures wiped out, and worlds feeding sons and resources to the new Imperium. When a God demands it, you obey, then your god makes it clear he is just another super powered tyrant then you're just another one of his tools crushing people to fulfill his vision. Lorgar went mad, and when his new gods called there was no sacrifice he would deny them, because it was the only hope for atonement for everything he'd already done.
That was always going to be the big problem with their "Imperial Truth." Even Jaghatai called it out for the horseshit it was. Lorgar wasn't a fool or a doomed dreamer, mankind NEEDS something greater than themselves, something to believe in, some faith that there is something out there watching over us. But as you said, he tore out Lorgar's heart and then, what, just expect him to be okay? The Emperor SEVERELY underestimated the Chaos Gods. Sometimes I wonder how he never thought the beings that stole his sons wouldn't continue to take an interest in them.
@@Cezili He doesn't explicitly call it horseshit, but in Warhawk of Chogoris, he does consider it a lie. And when Malcador calls it a noble lie, meant to protect humanity until we're ready to hear the truth, the Khan retorts that it reminds him of the tyrants of Chogoris that would use the same reasoning to placate their slaves with promises of freedom, when the time was right, a time that would be delayed indefinitely. However in another conversation from Path of Heaven he does seem to accept that it may have been a necessary lie for the Emperor to achieve his goal for humanity and even if he doesn't know exactly what that goal was, the Khan trusts that it was the right one. I'm paraphrasing heavily by the way and this is just my personal interpretation of what is said. You'd need to read the books yourself or see if anyone has posted excerpts from them online to form your own opinion.
Lorgar could have been the most loyal of all his brothers if it weren't for the Emperor leading him on for a whole century. I think he was wrong about his beliefs, but that doesn't mean he should have been brought down this way.
The most telling part about this excerpt is that the Emperor initially had no problem with Lorgar and the Word Bearers creating a religion about him. He'd crushed every religion on every planet that had been conquered by his sons. He could do it again with Lorgar's conquests after his Great Crusade and the Webway project was complete. Lorgar's crime was that unlike all his brothers, when his legion conquered a planet, they didn't install a governor loyal to the Imperium, provide said governor with arms and fortifications to quell dissent and move on to do the same on another world. The Word Bearers stayed on the planets they conquered, proselytizing, instructing the population on the proper rituals and prayers and observing the construction of cathedrals in the Emperor's image. The Word Bearers fell behind the other legions. The Word Bearers delayed the progress of the Great Crusade. And the people of Monarchia were forced to pay the price.
Which in my opinion is still a dumb reason on E's part to punish them THIS harshly. Yes, they were slow, no question. But they built something to last. Meanwhile, Angron, who openly wants Emps dead, ruins every world he lands on deliberately, while Curze...sweet God the damage he did is unparallel.
The same reason the Emperor allowed the Mechanicum to continue worshipping him as the Omnissiah. It was fine as long as it suited his plan and was less trouble than it was worth.
@@randomcenturion7264Hey what is this bullshit about Curze? He's done the opposite. That was his sole point. He's done the least damage to worlds assigned to him. You really dont have to come up with crimes for him
I've always felt bad for Lorgar his fall could have been completely avoided if Big E just decided to be a father to his children. Love the performance.
Lorgar’s fall had never to do with the emperor not being a father to him, his fall was due to him being a fanatical zealot who needed religion in order to justify his sins lorgar deserves no sympathy he is a monster, a psychopath masquerading as a poor man who ‘only wanted the truth’ and is so sorry for the innocents he has slaughtered and damned. To go off topic for second but the emperor never had a chance to be a father to his sons because he had a galaxy spanning Empire to manage and there also the fact most of the primarchs were raised to manhood by Foster parents before the emperor find them.
Lorgar was not someone who I'd ever thought to sound so, for want of a better term, "posh" but this is one of those cases where it's hard NOT to see it now. You can really feel Kor Phaeron's touch in his voice: the firmness and fervour of a preacher who's spent years upon years spouting gospel with the imperious certainty of a man who's convinced he understands the fundamental questions of the universe. Can happily say I finally get why Magnus says that Lorgar was made to mirror the Emperor, because he's the only son to *know* that he's right. And woe betide the fool who would dare to strip him of that confidence. Also, as an aside, where is it you get your music from? I know Eternal Eclipse has been mentioned but it definitely seems like you get 'em from other places from my searches of their library, and I'm dying to know where else I might find 'em because there's some splendid tracks in these readings.
@@RufusJuice Ah, dang. On the bright side at least I think I should have a good lead to work off - groups like Eternal Eclipse and Two Steps From Hell will probably turn up something.
I still hate Lorgar but man just discovered your channel and you put so much passion in this VO that now I want a Lorgar audiobook done by you. As a VO enthusiast and metal vocalist I really do praise your effort and work. Great job mate!
If the Emperor would have been violent and uncaring since the start with Lorgar like Kor Phaeron te Horus heresy would never had happen and Lorgar would would have stayed a beaten following dog all along
Lorgar to me is a Primarch that was born way to early, being born in a galaxy that still had to many temptations to pull him away from his intended purpose. He is the primarch who had the most to gain to actually growing up from birth next to the Emperor. When I see Lorgar I see the Chaos Gods most powerful hidden tool. The Divinitatus book he penned is the birthrock for the Imperial faith and countless trillions of humanity's downtrodden speak the words of what possibly is the greatest of all traitors yet alive. The book of Lorgar, another book he penned is likewise the birthground for Chaos cults across the span of the Imperium. Lorgar had the one gift the Emperor refused to fully use, and that is to touch humanity at their very deepest, humanity's need for guidance. If Lorgar was with the Emperor at birth he would be the most powerful son in the Emperors arsenal. Not because he could build walls like Dorn, administrate like Guilliman, endure like Mortarion or do the unthinkable like El'Johnson. He was not uncatchable like the Khan, or had Magnus's gifts of the warp. Lorgar could sway common people like no Primarch could, not even Horus. The Emperor did not bring a keen sharpening stone to Monarchia, he brought a sledgehammer and struck Lorgar without mercy. The Emperor shattered his possibly finest and keenest weapon in the war against Chaos, and the Chaos gods happily picked up the shards what was left of Lorgar and remade it into the being they needed. Horus, Perturabo, Curze, Alpharius, Fulgrim, Magnus, Angron..? They are or were but playthings, Lorgar was the real prize. The key, the master stonemason who could use humanities misery like bricks to build a universe of suffering, a playground for the four to play their great game. The ash in humanities mouth as it eats its bitter losses are to me the tears of a son who needed purpose more then any other. The Emperor failed in a great many things. But when he failed Lorgar, he failed humanity more then at any time.
Only the truly divine deny their divinity in other words nothing you say matters claim your a god and they all worship you deny it and they ignore your words and worship you even more there is no winning against such people no convincing them because they have already made up their minds all that matters to them is what they want to be true the actual truth is irrelevant to them.
All of this boils down to the Emperor being a flawed character. Ironically, he cut out what he perceived to be his flaws: Empathy, mercy, compassion, understanding and other things that most shitheads would perceive as weakness. All of these traits are what the galaxy was missing and what caused it to end up the way it is. The Emperor should have known better, but the writers had to have him make terrible mistakes. Only the most naive and arrogant idiot would have expected Lorgar to react in any other way.
omg the voice acting is so perfect i actualy cry for logar , omg i'm not shure if this is because i woke up or i did not drink my coffe but fuck poor lorgar
