Some times you scare me... getting lost in bad weather...then some how you find an open door and a warm welcome. Love your videos. Big hugs from an American grandma.
I know the video you referred to>> when it was bitterly cold, B&B with no hat, until he used his t shirt to cover his head. And trying to thumb a ride in a desolate landscape and on a deserted road....!! After he was dumped by his last ride in the middle of nowhere~ I was on the edge of my seat! But then the fates smiled on him, once again.
@KoivuTheHab why did you ask her ? just because she is american doesnt mean she hold all responsibilities made by mistakes of other american or their government. In short, get the fuck off.
Also this video is technically directed and edited by Bald. Else it would be a single clip with all the errors still included in, no voiceover, no text. It would also have no coherent narrative, but it does.
Having been born in California, living in Oregon, USA for last 25 years, I'm 70 yrs. Old, I love your video's, that place is like another time. Great trip you've taken, enjoy! And thank you.
@Кристиан Тошев what you're saying is 'Russians are not bad people, but their government is vile and corrupt'. What I want to say is fuck you. Just because this government represents our nation's interests, which contradict with Western interests, it does not make it vile and corrupt per se.
This video is so interesting. I was born and raised in the similar town approximately 300 km from Uyar. I’m so glad that you met nice people and your Russian is so good😄. Now I’m living and study in Canada and when people realize that I’m from Siberia they imagine big snowing fields and a lot of bears walking on the streets😂next time I will show them this video and they will know how my whereabouts look like 😂. It’s so impressed how the region in my country looks like from a foreign. Keep going you doing a great job 👍
I am thinking the same way you said.. Siberia means snow and Bear.. Eye opener video and Thank you Mr.Bald. I am an Indian and I have great love for Russia. The hospitality of the people.. Wow!
I have a different problem. When I tell people that I am from Serbia. I always get the answer "poor you, it must be very cold there". I mean really WTF . Serbia is 4500km away from Sibira
Yes, the Russian people are very kind and helpful. I am a 66 years old Australian and was in Moscow and Volgograd (Stalingrad) and was helped many times by different Russian people, men and women. I think it has something to do with their country having been thru many bad times, they band together and try and do something for those who are in some kind of need. Just the opposite of what the western media tells us about Russia. A great place to visit.
Good Sir Greetings from a fellow Aussie you attract great intrigue about your Journey, being stuck in Sydney for the last 10 yrs These encounters take me to somewhere I think Happiness would be true felt and warmth would not cost An Arm and A Leg. Respect.
I love this guys attitude to life. Most of us if we got off at the wrong place and ended up in a town we hadn't got a clue about would be stressing about the situation. BB though, he just thinks let's have a adventure. It's great how he just uses his social skills to the max and always has a great time with the local folks. The BBC and other media organisations have spread negative propaganda about Russia in particular before the World Cup, these uploads paint a very different picture, just friendly welcoming people who go beyond the call to help a foreign visitor.
You wouldn't stress .... If 1. You know the language. 2. You know there gonna be a train to your destination in the evening. 3. You have enough money for food n train ride. So, Nope.
He gets a good response from people because he has a nice smile, a cheerful demeanour and that self confidence that comes from knowing you can handle most situations. He reminds me very much of my ex Karate Sensei. Very simlar looks and personality and able to cope with most physical threats. Ben is ex military and learned Russian because of his role, which he will not disclose.
@@baldandbankrupt sheeeet..i we seen it on your face ..i didnt look like deliberate ..til you found them kids ..i know what is like to be lost in the unknown and cold feet..
When you travel, sometimes the best times happen by accident. Maybe a wrong turn, running out of gas (who knew in the French countryside most gas stations were closed on Sundays (1995) or a missed train.
Where I live in the US, there are many Russian immigrants. Without exception, every one I've met has been so nice that it takes a second to realize that they aren't faking it. Plus extraordinarily hard working and entrepreneurial - within a year of arriving speaking little English they are running small businesses, then buying homes. I absolutely detest the political media that vilifies whole nations of people for God knows what end game. The average person, the world over wants to love and exist peacefully with other peoples. Mr. Bald is doing the world a huge service with his videos - showing the truth about other people and not the shit we are constantly fed.
@@gopro369 I'm in West Springfield, MA. I'll tell you another little story about the Russians, but it applies to Polish immigrants and other East Europeans too. I was at a Chinese buffet and a Russian family came in. The four little kids were dressed nicely, hair neatly parted and well behaved, the mom was dressed up and dad had obviously just come from work. I could imagine mom getting the kids ready and them sitting patiently excited for dad to come home. They are families the way we used to be in the 50s when going out to eat was a big occasion. At the big Russian church near me, I see all the families, dressed to the nines going to church together. It gives me a real pang for the way we used to be. I wish more Russians (Ukrainians, Belarussian and Poles) would move to the US. It would give as a boost of ambitious lifestyle we are losing with each generation. You won't convince them that America isn't the land of opportunity. Another quickie: a young Polish family moved in across the street and bought a small house. He worked in a factory and she was a dental hygienist. He worked every overtime hour he possibly could. The best neighbors in the world. Within five years they rented out their house and bought 10 acres in the country with a beautiful house.
@@Automedon2 Wow I had no idea there was such a big Russian immigrant population in western MA. I lived in Sunderland for a couple years and used to go to Springfield a decent amount. When I read the first comment in this thread western MA was the last place I expected you to be from.
My gosh! I've never seen you so miserable like you were in the beginning of the video. You're always cheery regardless of the situation. But I'm glad you ran into those young men who were able to lift your spirits.🙂
Damn, these are some really nice kids. They see that you are a foreigner and lost, and maybe you look a bit grumpy because of the weather, and they come still and ask you about who you are and so on, and then they even invite you to their homes to warm up, drink and eat. Awesome Lads, wish them the best in life.
I live in Krasnoyarsk, just some 130 kilometers of railroad to the west from this town. Even passed it by train many times. It is shocking how empty it looks. But glad you found welcoming people. :)
What a heart warming story. I found a similar experience when I was in Siberia. I think the people are more friendly to foreigners due to their isolation, and they always want to learn what life is like outside their world. That family will be talking about your visit for years to come.. I just found your channel, and will be watching all of your videos. Thanks
@KoivuTheHab when we went to night clubs half the girls were all over him. If this was a freak show, you'd not see drunk females coming up to him and try to kiss him
I love Siberia too so much. Was there last year for the first time and also extremely impressed by the kindness and hospitality. I have the exact same opinion of Russian people - the nicest and most interesting people I have ever met. Everybody should visit Russia. No excuses! 👍🇷🇺🐻🚂
I totally agree about the hospitality of the Russian people.. been visiting Russia now 6 times since 2015, and going back again.. I love the people of Russia!
It's amazing for an old American soldier, who in the 60's was trained to possibly meet Russians in battle to see how kind and un-war-like the people of Russia are. It makes me happy. Irving.
Looks like they was told you since your birth that the Russians are some sort of Orcs beating war drums made of human leather pumping battle rush to invade America. Well the drums part turned out be true. Sort of.
@@alexsh1135 "Russia, besides occupied part of Ukrainian territory and killed 13000 people there" Like where and when? "occupied part of Georgia and Moldova. " Like where and when?
@@alexsh1135 watch bald's video about Moldova or better visit some post soviet republics and talk to real people, a lot of them old folks who still remember soviet times say life was better back then. I'm not defending communism I'm just saying it's not that simple black and white. Stop demonizing Russians
I used to think Russia is a bad place. Been growing up by people's saying bad about Russian. But after watching this video, i might love to travel to Russia one day. When my financial stable. Thanks for the video.
This is my hometown. Really small and probably ugly for others but beautiful and heartwarming for me. The best memories of my childhood and adolescence come from here. Love it with all my heart and would never trade it for anything else. Thank you for showing the world my home. Love from Russia ❤️
i have always had a curiosity and yearning to learn and live Russian culture. ive known a few people from Russia and they have always been kind and fair and treat others the way they wish to be treated. Russia should be admired and respected not condemned or criticized, especially by western leaders who aren't brave enough to go witness this themselves.
I 100% agree with you here, I have received warmer and kinder gestures out in the middle of nowhereville in Europe than I ever have in my own nation, it is strange how you have to go to the ends of the Earth sometimes to realise humankind still exists in it's purest form.
U have likely started this town as a tourist destination. The locals will be pissed off because there will be paved roads, McDonald's, Holiday inn and Chinese tourist buses.. Nice going bald.
Hello foreigners, I am from this place Uyar, I live here) Thanks for the video, we recently saw this video, that you were with us, if you knew, you would have met as expected)
The friendliness and hospitality of these people is incredible. They're basically inviting total strangers into their homes and giving them food and drink. Amazing people.
I had a similar experience in Petrozavodsk (altho I wasn't lost!) A woman took me back to her family home, gave me food and drink, and they me 2 presents - one for me, and one for my mother. I was very touched, a stayed in touch with them by writing. (I do speak Russian.) All countries have good people, of course, but Russian has something special that is hard to describe.
Great video. I've been in Moscow three times in my life, and I fell in love with everything there. I remember I had certain issues the first time(first week to be precise) but it was because I went with my Spanish mentality and I screwed up. After that, everything was a big adventure and the russian people are amazing. The women in Russia are the most beautiful I've seen in my life.
Thank you Bald for bringing the warmth, beauty and hospitality of the Russian people onto RU-vids platform. Beautiful people. Beautiful land. Beautiful cultures. Love, peace and prosperity to Russia. ❤️
In the times of the Soviet Union it once happened that I was travelling to Moscow and missed my train in Warsaw. I went to another railway station in Warsaw, noticed a Russian train from Berlin to Moscow and told the conductor about my problem. He agreed to take me and even accepted my ticket bought for a Polish train to Moscow. This tells something about the Russian people, how they respond to other people in distress.
Bald, huge respect for that kind of videos. You deserve a special platform, like RU-vid, but with true kindhearted videos. The ones that teach you understanding of people and appreciating their culture and history.
You have the gift to keep your vids entertaining. great view of Russia, I think the fact that you speak their language opens a lot of doors. It's amazing how hospitality increases when people are poorer and a bit more humble. I consider that a bit the red line through your Russian visits: simple things as a warm welcome, and the curiousness you share with the locals.
We've had a lot of Russian students stay over in England. They were all really fun and enthusiastic. I guess if can have fun in challenging places like this then you'll have fun almost everywhere.
The USSR used to have a policy where the further away you moved, the bigger salary you got. This is how my father migrated to Vladivostock: because he got paid roughly 50% more than those living in Moscow. Its how USSR incentivised the colonization of Siberia
Taking the wrong train stop in Germany: Try to find someone that can tell you on which train you should take, definately no free hotel room, being still outside at 4am talking to people and asking them where to go, almost getting robbed (actually happened to me like this lol). Taking the wrong train stop in Russia: Driving around in a bus for hours, meeting people on the street, have a place for the night and a groovy jam session with your host. I love the russian mentality :D
"What is this? A bear?", says the bald fellow about the large black beast in front of him. "A dog", answer the young Russian gents who have never encountered a joke before.
@Stephen Murphy no american can talk shit about another person going there, none of you should be there if you use the same stupid logic that makes you want foreigners gone, who gives a shit if they dont speak english, live your own life dumbass.
If you asked to let's say 50 people in Russia that if you could stay at them, and even in east europe, they would definetely say Yes, you know why? Because you are British, same of course would be for Americans, Australians, people with great english accent :) If you would be russian, that most likely wouldn't happen.
They would say yes even if you're Russian. Not everyone would say, that's the situation: people from big cities are really busy, and some people from rural communities don't have much living space. Yet for most of them, they don't care it you're Russian, Hungarian, Gambian, Venezuelan or Nauruan: they have the "sacred hospitality" and they won't refuse to help a guest.
God bless your heart, Benjamin. I really appreciate how you made all your followers understand how sweet and warm and giving the Russians are. One of the greatest, most wonderful people I've ever come across. Thank you, and God bless
What a wonderful people they see a stranger Bald and its hey come over to our place. Anywhere else no way would anyone ask a total stranger over to their house. Wonderful country and trusting people.
I’ve been to Russia many times- sometimes in similar situations as this one. I can’t imagine how exhausted you must have been, wandering around the town for so long! Love your Russia videos! Cheers!
what a fantastic bloody channel....I've often wondered what life like is this forgotten part of the globe. cheers dude. If you ever need a travel companion hit me up
Wow, by watching numerous videos of your travels this ex soviet countries the people there are so friendly and hospitable! I must visit Russia or nearby countries on day 🙏🏻👋🏻
This reminds me so much of some of my aimless travelling I did in my younger years. Definitely heading to Russia (and former Soviet nations) via motorcycle when my kids are grown in 7 years. I really enjoy your videos and I have never subscribed to many channels in the past, but you make fantastic content. Keep it up and thank you!
I'm kinda digging this town. I was surprised to find that it's only got around 10k people in it. All your former USSR videos have taught me to look for some things that pop out up but I didn't see random graffiti, there's a decent clean and modernized railway station, and in that one abandoned house you entered I'd expect to see penises and swear words with some swastikas instead it was just an absolutely adorable "I love Sergey" with some hearts. Cafe was surprisingly nice, some foreign cars outside it too. Plastic windows on some houses, non-confrontational and seemingly curious youth (and youth in general being around), how clean their shoes were (just look at those damn roads, HOW ARE THOSE SHOES SO CLEAN). I was surprised to hear them say its rough living out there, it doesn't feel like a dying community yet. But thank you for your videos for making me think so much about a small random town in Siberia and making me curious about it
I remember I got off at the wrong station when I went back to the UK for a holiday. Not sure where I was meant to be getting off at but I accidentally got off in Harrow. Next train wasn't due for another 4 hours so I wandered around a bit looking like a proper tourist. Bad idea, nearly got my head smashed in by a Royal Marine AND shortly after that, wannabe gangsters. In short, I'd rather be lost anywhere in Eastern Europe than Harrow.
So sad this war for both parties, cause there are so much the same. And share so much culture and history and bloodlines. Please and the war so people can come and visit your beautiful countries and culture. Greatings from Netherlands.
If one gets off at the wrong station in huge Siberia, that's scary. the next train may not come till next day. Plus, if the town is small, there may be no hotels. The next town with a hotel may be six hours away. Roads to next town may be unpaved.
Love your videos 💜 When I travelled, I travelled alone, avoided tourist attractions, let myself be led by wherever I felt pulled towards, met the most amazing people.
You are simply amazing! A friendly smile and cheerful attitude would open up all doors and hearts and you are great at it! I grew up maybe 200 km north of Uyar, so this was very similar to my village. Thank you for your cool videos, mate! Safe travels!!!
This guy is a fabulous person! He let's us in on his travels throughout Eastern Europe, places and people we will never see! And somehow he always runs into friendly people who end up sharing their lives with him. He loves and respects people and they reciprocate.
Great video!!! Keep them coming!! Good job with your Russian sending a compliment from a native Russian speaker!! Awesome channel!!!! ☺☺ You should travel and explore Ukraine!!
This reminds me of my first time visiting Germany. I misread the bus information and was dropped off 2 miles away from my host, on a hot muggy day, with a couple big backpacks. If it hadn't been for this rather unfortunate situation, I wouldn't have enjoyed a very long walk through the German countryside, a beautiful scene that would have gone unnoticed otherwise.
I've just finished watching all your videos (including Daily B.) with this one... Sad moment in this lifetime 😔. I hope you can make a ton of new videos per day from now on 😊.
I’m glad you show what traveling is really like. You don’t always end up where you want, sometimes you may even be lonely and bored but in those times comes growth and sometimes opportunity to meet those you may never
