Hey Alan, The process should be the same for an out-of-state vehicle. We recommend contacting your local DMV to verify your vehicle is eligible and if any additional steps are required to register your vehicle from Washington. If you have any questions about the bond, send us an email to info@suretysolutions.com or give us a call at (866) 722-9239.

What if bought a car off Facebook and don't have a bill of sale? We know the car is not stolen and we were given the title but it had 2 owners. On the back of the title one owner signed and the other printed. Tx is saying we have to go back and get it fixed but sellers are not responding. It is a complete crap car but I can't even register it until I get this handled. Can I still get a bonded title?
@Suretysolutionsllc

Sorry to hear you are having a difficult time registering your vehicle. We recommend you contact your local DMV to determine if your vehicle is eligible for a bonded title. If it is eligible, you will need to purchase a Certificate of Lost Title Surety Bond with a bond amount equaling 1.5 times the value of your vehicle. Good luck with getting your title!

I find your demeanor fascinatingly calm. I know you know what you're talking about. With that said, it's amazing how many at the DMV have no idea what's going on outside of their small perimeter of title's knowledge. I'm one of those people who needs a lot of time to process back and forth rhetoric: Being told one thing and then having it completely contradicted or having what is told to me being only the partial truth. I was sold a used car without a title. It's almost like a version of the Telephone Game where when asking a number of people, whom should know the process, really have no idea. I got a lot of different answers from the same question. One of the questions I liked to ask people: What's the difference between a bond title and a surety bond title?
@Suretysolutionsllc
@Suretysolutionsllc 3 года назад
Hello, Bill. I'm sorry to hear you are having a difficult time getting the information you need. Hopefully, you found our video helpful. As for your question about a bonded title and surety bond, we are happy to assist. A surety bond is a three-party contract between you (the principal), the surety and the state (the obligee). The bond is your guarantee to the state that the vehicle is your property. The bonded title is similar to a regular vehicle title, however, it has a bonded branding on it. Most states will remove the bonded branding from the title after the bond is expired. To summarize, a surety bond is purchased and issued through a surety company. The surety bond is submitted to the state along with any other required documents, applications and fees to be issued your vehicle's title with a bonded branding (bonded title). Best of luck with getting your bonded title!

Can you sell your car under bonded title
@Suretysolutionsllc
@Suretysolutionsllc 4 года назад
Great question! Typically, you can sell a vehicle with a bonded title just as if it had a regular title. However, the bond will remain in the principal's name until it expires (3 years in Texas), even though the title is registered to a new owner. We recommend verifying the process with your local DMV, since they sometimes require the new owner to get a new Surety Bond.

I'm in Texas. The former owner refuses to sign a VTR-34 form for me so I can get a duplicate title. He sold it through a small car lot and I got the title when i paid cash for it but I held on it too long and lost it. Like everyone else is this the only other way to obtain a legit title under my name? Thanks
@Suretysolutionsllc
@Suretysolutionsllc 2 года назад
Hello Jerry. I'm sorry to hear the former owner is refusing to get the duplicate title. The bonded title option is used as a last resort to get a vehicle's title registered in the owner's name. We recommend you contact your local DMV to determine all your options to get your title into your name. They may advise getting a bonded title if your vehicle is eligible and that is the only option. Best of luck to you!

Can somebody please explain to me what surety bond is and how it works
@Suretysolutionsllc
@Suretysolutionsllc 3 года назад
Hello Dayana, Great questions! We have a blog post explaining surety bonds and how they work here: blog.suretysolutions.com/suretynews/what-is-a-surety-bond The surety bond is a three-party contract between you, the surety and the state. When you purchase a surety bond to get a bonded title, you are guaranteeing to the state the vehicle belongs to you. Unlike traditional insurance, the surety bond isn't coverage for yourself. The surety bond ensures the state doesn't lose money for issuing you a title and it turns out the vehicle belongs to another party. If someone else claims the vehicle belongs to them, the surety will conduct an investigation to determine if the claim is valid. A valid claim results in a payout up to the full bond amount by the surety. It would then be your responsibility as the principal of the bond to pay the surety company back in full. You only have to make a one-time payment for the surety bond. And, in most states, you can get the bonded branding removed from your title once the bond expires. We hope this information helps. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Thank you!

When is the bonded money returned to the applicant?
@Suretysolutionsllc
@Suretysolutionsllc 3 года назад
Hi Gary, Good question! No money is returned to the applicant after purchasing a Certificate of Lost Title Bond. However, the applicant only has to pay a small portion of the bond amount in premium. As an example, if the applicant needs a TX Certificate of Lost Title Bond in the amount of $5,500, the cost of the bond is estimated to be around $100. This is a one-time fee. Please note these bonds are not refundable and cannot be canceled. If you have any additional questions, let us know here or send an email to info@suretysolutions.com. Thank you!

Hello Torrance. Great question! The bond fee, known as the premium, is different than the bond amount. You do not pay the full amount of the bond, just the premium. The bond premium is a one-time payment since this type of bond doesn't renew. Good luck with getting your vehicle's title.
