Jack, looking so much more comfortable with that straight. The time spent putting in shaves was well done. The technique is on the up! Glad you found the inverted strokes early, I do the same method. It just took me a bit longer to figure it out.🤣

Absolutely the best soap out there, the skin feel and slickness are on another level (to even A&E and Zingari imo). I actually think the V1 base is the second base out there by considerable distance. For a UK dweller like me Lothur prices are amazingly priced, 30 quid for the set is almost cheap. If I'm getting a ZM, A&E, B&M set I'm looking around £45+.

Having there in the UK, Phoenix & Beau soaps (the tallow formula not the vegan) from Kerry & Sara there is no need to spend this amount of money for the US artisans, especially now.

Great shave Jack, I have one of allesandro 2 band brushes in mammoth tusk and it’s excellent! I’ll have to try this from Lothur, I picked up Dave but unfortunately had a reaction from it. It was a bloody good soap though! 👍

Hello, for watching this video I bought the soap and ... surprise, the aroma is exactly the same as Altamira from Los Jabones de Joserra, maybe Altamira something more powerful. Great soaps, both with an animalic scent that is not for everyone.

How long do you soak your badgers prior til shaving? I have find no differemce soaking 2 min vs 10 mins. They preform just as well. The only difference I find, is that I maby need to add a little bit more water to the tups while loading from the soap.
@TheVirtualGroomroom
@TheVirtualGroomroom 2 года назад
I typically soak my brushes from 2-5 minutes.

Are you tub loading or scooping and loading from a bowl and then face lathering? You think you can do an updated video on your process? I've watched your lather progression to the point of perfection. Every soap you use seems to be a perfect consistency.

So sorry to be THAT guy, but I just can't accept that a product with a high concentration of Dimethicone and no real skin food ingredients, is the best artisan soap out there. Sego, Kaizen, Siero, Milksteak & v3 from Noble Otter are far away from it and the best bases out there. (ok, I haven't tried the Omnibus yet)
@TheVirtualGroomroom
@TheVirtualGroomroom 2 года назад
Don't hate the dimethicone, let it be your friend.
@jonnyg6820

the term skinfood is redundant, artisans use oils and butters in a soap to create slickness not to indulge your skin with actives. Most come under a term called Occlusives, meaning they sit on the skin and trap moisture (water) into the skin. The best of these ingredients some silicones and petroleum based things such as Vaseline (Shea butter, lanolin, coconut oil etc) all come under this category. So if you want the best occlusive dimethicone and petroleum jelly are the best of the best. Also you are washing and scraping it off your face so the time spent on the skin is negligible at best. I know this because I work with a dermatologist and a chemistry lab to develop my products.

@@T-R.e.x No worries. It sometimes takes a few uses to dial a soap in. I bowl lather Lothur. I measure out 1/16 tsp (aka a PINCH). I add 1/2 tablespoon of water and make a slurry. With a slightly damp synthetic brush, I turn the slurry into a fantastic lather in about 1 minute. I use my thumb to help dissolve all the soap into the water. Try it out. It works like a charm. Use a cheap penknife to scrape the soap out of the measuring spoon (available at kitchen stores). Cheers.

Just waiting for Jason's shipment from Jonny to hit State-Side. How would you compare this to Zingari's Byron? Appreciate you brother.

No.1 was more Rose than Oud, this is the other way around. I also wouldn't say the oud used in No.1 was animalic or funky, this is.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong or harmful about dimethicone. In fact, it’s used in lots of skincare that’s actually GOOD for you. It’s been completely demonised, much like parabens. CeraVe uses it in their facial moisturisers, and it’s used in the Løthur soaps in place of lanolin which causes a lot of sensitivity issues. It’s a perfectly safe occlusive and I wish more folks were educated on it.
