Filmed in January of 2022.
It's crazy to think that's its already been nearly 10 years since Newer Otis Series 2 and 4 aka "Series 7" first came out. I can remember back when I first joined this community and this model of elevator wasn't very common yet and everyone (Myself included) was so excited to ride one of these for the first time and was looking forward to their chance of getting to ride their first "Series 7s" and we would literally FOAM over these like they were the coolest thing ever, and we all originally referred to these new Otis elevators as having "Series 7" fixtures only to later find out that wasn't even the real name!
Fast forward to now, these new "Next Generation" Otis Elevators are LITERALLY EVERYWHERE (Basically EVERY brand new or newly expanded Hotel in Orlando and even Tampa has these now), me and basically everyone in the community has grown tired of seeing this model of elevator, and it's crazy to think it's now already been nearly 10 years since this model first came out and since this community (again, myself included...) went crazy over these....
The elevators in this video are some of the VERY FIRST "Series 7s" ever installed (Late 2012-Early 2013) as evidenced by the fact these have Black Phone Brailles like what you see on Series 5 as opposed to Orange and Red Phone brailles installs from Later 2013 and so on have, and you may be wondering.... How are they holding up nearly 10 years later!?!
And unfortunately, my answer is not very well.... The button panels feel SUPER CHEAP and are FALLING APART, these elevators make AWFUL screeching and creaking noises while moving and they SOUND like they're gonna fall apart too!!! Not to mention the LCD Screens and LEDs in the buttons aren't holding up too well either, and all of this is very unfortunate as these are the characteristics I'd normally use to describe a KONE, not a nearly 10 year old Otis. Which is sad, because up until just 20 years ago, Otis Elevators were EASILY the best elevators money could buy, and the fact that they are no longer like this anymore for the sake of competition from other brands and corporate greed is unfortunate.....
Hopefully there are other "Series 7" installs from this time period aren't aging as poorly as these are, but given how cheap these feel and are compared to what Otis has made in the past it, it really wouldn't shock me.
I hope you guys all enjoy the video, and let me know what you think about these elevators as well as Newer Otises as a whole in the comments below.
Installed in Early 2013.

The Blue Digital Floor Indicators like the ones seen here are not built to stay lit 24/7 and are prone to burn out unlike the simple green ones that lasted longer

Yeah, admittedly Otis quality has started going downhill a while ago (15-20 years ago). The cab is relatively nice, but the fixtures aren't too exciting and they make some very interesting sounds that, while it doesn't affect how it runs, just shows that stuff isn't built like it used to.

New (or Newer) Series 2 and/or New (or Newer) Series 4 (formerly coined "Series 7") in your area is like Schindler HT in my area. I see them EVERYWHERE! Sad even for a newer Otis elevator from like a decade ago is already beginning to age not that well.

There is actually a Hampton Inn by Hilton close to my town that has some of these Newer Otis Series 2 elevators that are from 2012! That’s the Hampton Inn by Hilton in Tinton Falls/Neptune, NJ.

The Hampton Inn in Fort Jackson, SC also has NS2's from 2012 as well.

Me and my friend Kam are getting tired of seeing GEN2s and 3300s being installed in every other new hotel in Indiana!

@@FloridianElevators I am already tired of seeing the Schindler 3300 models popping up in every new hotel in my area 😂 I would rather ride either a 5500 or 3300XL models than a 3300 in general!

@@NWIndianaElevators Agreed! And one of my biggest pet peeves is that Hotels OVER 6 FLOORS are installing 3300s!!! They should be going with 5500 at that point. 3300 is WAY too slow for 8 floors+!!!

@@FloridianElevators Speaking of which, I was surprised to see 3300s installed at the Hilton Garden Inn & the Home2 Suites in downtown Orlando (where I stayed when I was in Orlando). I was actually expecting 5500s for that place, BUT I guess that they decided to cheap out the elevators at the last minute because one of the cars was broken the whole time when I was there!
