Hey, Wasn't "Almost Paradise" done for that late 80s movie, "Chances Are?" With Robert Downy Jr. & Cybill Shephard (?)? That song's video may have clips of that late 80s movie that I saw as an adult, which makes me feel old...ha ha...but glad I lived through what appears to have been better times.

Loverboy was the opening act for Styx at a concert in San Diego back in the day. No one knew who Loverboy was at the time and when they finished the set the crowd started screaming for them to come back, even though they weren't the headliner. Loverboy is a Canadian rock band formed in 1979. They were established in Calgary, Alberta, but are currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia (my hometown). Loverboy had some great songs such as "Turn Me Loose", "Working For The Weekend", "When It's Over", "Lucky Ones", "Hot Girls In Love", "The Kid Is Hot Tonite", "Queen Of The Broken Hearts", "Heaven In Your Eyes", etc. In 1984, Loverboy recorded the United States Team theme for the 1984 Summer Olympics, "Nothing's Gonna Stop You Now".

Mike Reno is one of the most underrated singers of the 1980s. I was extremely fortunate to see Loverboy perform as the opening act for another band. The concert took place about a week before their debut album hit the stores so no one knew who they were at the time. When the headlining act was on stage later some people started leaving to beat the traffic in the parking lot because the band just wasn't up to what we experienced while Loverboy was on stage (and, don't get me wrong, the headliners were one of the all time great rock bands that, I will respectfully, not name here),

Definitely a really great band from the early 80s, Mike Reno was an incredible vocalist and the lead guitar player was a guy named Brad Gillis who got the temporary gig filling in on tour with Ozzy Osbourne in 82 shortly after Randy Rhoads was killed in that small plane crash in Florida. I saw that show about a month after that happened and I recently learned that Brad was given the seemingly impossible task of learning all of Randy’s live performance parts in like three days!!! He pulled it off beautifully, doing Randy justice and providing Ozzy and the rest of the band the opportunity to continue and not have to cancel the tour.

Next should be "Working For the Weekend", followed by "When It's Over", "Hot Girls in Love", "Lovin' Every Minute of It", and "This Could be the Night". Lead singer Mike Reno also did a duet with Ann Wilson from Heart for the Footloose soundtrack, "Almost Paradise". The other members of the band are guitarist Paul Dean, drummer Matt Frenette, keyboardist/saxophonist Mike Reno, and bassist Scott Smith. Sadly, Smith died in a boating accident in 2000, and he was replaced by Ken "Spider" Sinnaeve.

I love this jam. It's just about freedom. Being free. Breaking the chains that control you and hold you back. Doing it your way... or no way at all.

Good Pic Guys... the band is great... and Mike Reno is one of the greatest rock singers from the 80s !😊😊😊

They’re from Calgary, but settled in Vancouver and for us living there we had Loverboy and Bryan Adams, but the 3rd other band in the area we loved was Chilliwack. The singer is Mike Reno. He can still blast it out. Another of their hits was Working For The Weekend. We were fresh young adults with the whole future ahead of us and these songs were our power theme songs; let’s grab a hold of life, we can do anything.

Chilliwack and Trooper are probably the two most under-reacted to bands on youtube

Absolutely!! I would love for them to react to Rain-O such an amazing song.. could be great if released/ heard currently. Now with Trooper!? that's a band I've got a very strong heartbreaker memory/ affinity for.. a very special 'Love' from my past.. (early 80's) had introduced me.. first to their music and then (quite literally) to them! Lol! We got a wonderful opportunity to go over to see Trooper in Vancouver (we're from Victoria) play live at the Commodore (Ballroom) it was such a great venue bc you had the intimacy of a small local nightclub.. sitting at your own table/ having drinks, but ale to enjoy utilizing the dance floor.. and being up close and personal to the band while playing on stage! boyfriend unabashedly introduced himself/ us and we 5en sat and chatted with Ra for part of the bands break! This all made it quite a *magical evening* for me!❣️it was back around '82 is a special memory I hope to Never lose!😉🤗👍

Loverboy is such a great 80's rock band. Here are some more awesome songs: "When It's Over", " Lovin' Every Minute of It", "Heaven in Your Eye" . Also the lead singer Mike Reno does a beautiful duet with Ann Wilson from Heart that is in the movie Footloose called "Almost Paradise"....

Mike Reno is a good singer. He did a duet with Ann Wilson (Heart) on an 80's hit. Loverboy had some hits in the 80's, with Working for the Weekend having the most staying power even to this day. They were like Canada's version of Journey.

I have seen these boys four times in my life, and they NEVER GET OLD!!!! Mike Reno is immortal on stage, and their songs are always a fun listen... You have to listen to "Lovin' every minute of it", "Working for the Weekend" and "The Kid is Hot Tonite"! They are gems! Loverboy is Canadian and is a strong addition to the country's roster of classic bands!

You are hearing underrated gold, Mike Reno's voice and the power of this Canadian band. I absolutely rocked out to Loverboy back in the 80's (and now). I am so glad and impressed that you guys continue to react to and enjoy all the 80's music, it makes my heart happy and brings a smile to my face. Please keep going and by the way 'Working for the Weekend' would be a great one. The video is a typical cheesy 80's video and the song is fantastic! Enjoy!! 🤘

That note and y'all's reaction, BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I was totally waiting for that. They rocked the 80s. Still one of my favorite bands. Since you've already listened to a few songs from the Top Gun soundtrack, they contributed Heaven In Your Eyes to that. Working for the Weekend, When It's Over, This Could Be the Night, The Kid is Hot Tonight, Notorious, Loving Every Minute of It, Almost Paradise which is a duet that Mike Reno did with Ann Wilson from Heart for the original movie Footloose, Lucky Ones are some of my favorites.

Mike had a voice that couldn't be matched. He could hit those high notes which was unbelievable. This song and when it's over was my favorite songs but all their songs were truly amazing. Bands back at this time were just the best their ever was. I loved the Beatles but not to many other bands at this time but the eighties came with the greatest groups of all time.

Loverboy is one of my favorite bands. This was their first top 40 hit, but it didn't get as high as expected. Mike Reno has said that the record label did not promote this song well causing it to underachieve. They did have several more hits including Working For the Weekend (which often gets played on the radio on Fridays), Hot Girls in Love, and Lovin Every Minute of It, to name a few. They still tour -- in fact they are out on tour this year with two other bands, Styx and REO Speedwagon.

Another big hit for them was 'Working for the Weekend'. I remember watching them perform that for Prince Charles and Princess Diana in Vancouver. It's one of those songs that amp you up and you could tell Prince Charles (known not to like rock music) was trying to stay reserved but gave in.
