Having owned both a supercharged ls & turbo ls I found the supercharger far more fun to drive. The instantaneous power & acceleration throws you back in your set while I found the turbo a bit boring. Power delivery was a lots of nothing & then suddenly lots of everything. I also found the whine of the supercharger was awesome as well.
For the LS platform.... True street car, go PD supercharger. Dyno queen or 1/4 mile car, go turbo. Want increased power everywhere, go PD, want ludicrous power in a narrow band, go turbo. There's a reason GM went with PD superchargers on their hero cars.
I would like to see this turbo Ve with a smaller turbo. Would love to see the diffrence in power curve with a smaller turbo. Obviously probably wouldn't be as good up the top end and less peak numbers but never really seen many dyno's with smaller turbo's on V8's as my (limited) understanding is they would come on to boost earler. Anyway mate love your work. Not trying to say I think it would be any better but would lovet to see the diffrence if you ever get a car in the shop with similar set up with a smaller snail. Cheers :)
EBay twin turbo the way to go. 150 bucks to buy and they last a long time. Might not be as good as the name brand turbos but who cares. Still plants plenty of power over the Lsa boys.
Great video, some people lack common sense chasing big peak numbers and they cant get it to the ground. The amount of times i see big power cars with crap tyre's get dusted by a less powered car with grip.
Having had both in various states of tune, I’d say turbo is better for a street car.. the power and especially the torque in the cars I’ve owned was more accessible in everyday driving with a turbocharged car
Great video. You hit the nail on the head. Comes down to how you want the power to come on and where you are mostly going to use it. I went PD SC as I mainly use it on the street. Loads of fun instantaneously.
Here's a question from a dummy, how close is the comparison of pro charger to super charger ? And thanks for the vids, i smiled every day after you did my car, man i miss it.
Great video 👌😎 , without knowing the turbo size ?? At only 600kw Wouldn’t it be beneficial to run a smaller G42-1200 or alike to get way more power under the curve ?? And get the best of both worlds so to speak. Turbo’s for the win in my book 👌👌👌
Yes!! Great video!! Completely agree with everything said. Yes, you're so right!! Alot of people just focus on Peak Power! But that doesn't tell the whole story. That's why Alot of people don't understand having these Humongous 1400hp turbos for the street!! Just doesn't work! Unless your running nitrous or something. I've seen 2jz engines at 6000rpm that were completely flat on the street. Is almost like the engine revs!! But the lag is just so much...I mean you literally have to be on it!! To get that turbo to spool.
great video mate !!! im a huge turbo guy have had them on most of my cars, but on both my SS's i have magnasson superchargers, not saying they are better, but for the street i think they are just so much more fun. especially in a manual. But its exactly what u said, horses for courses, if i was running my car down the drag strip or doing top speed runs turbo is the way to go, but for v8 on the street i think a supercharger can give you all the fun u need
