This is the first time I really got to see the Detroit trutracs in action. In addition to the factory traction control it works a lot better than I expected. There's absolutely no handling degradation in daily driving. A lot of people say they don't work with tires bigger than 33s but as you can see that's simply not true - I had all 4 tires spinning at the same time quite often. I knocked out my passenger side turn signal but I have my eyes on the high clearance dark crow designs rear bumper with side nerf bars.

I got 33s on my disco2 td5...it's pretty much unstoppable. I got the center diff lock and traction control plays in as lockers ,it's the best off road experience while sitting in your armchair

@@ashfieldwakefield3221 Yea it's very capable for what it is. If you add in the TruTrac Lockers front and rear it's even more capable.

Hi Binh - came across this video and immediately recognized your D2. Saw you parked @ Ikea last year and took a photo of your rig. Finally getting my own 2004 D2 this weekend. 👍

I'm sending my jealousy from the UK, the price of an ls over here is eye watering, really nice build, I love that white as well has it been resprayed? Do you have a center diff lock? Can't remember if they were standard on American models.

It is factory paint. I bought it before COVID and it had 55k miles on it. The owner took exceptional care of it. When I saw it I had to have it (it was also bone stock). Yes, I have CDL as well - a must have in this vehicle. I've had one without and it performs much much worse.

@@xm3ntal620 Wow, it's really in stunning condition, I've seen some 50 odd k ones about here in the uk but with all the sea air and weather they're nowhere near as tidy paint wise. I like the American spec rear lights as well, looks so much cleaner than what we have over here with the amber cluster. Think I've watched the overview 3 times now, thank you for sharing man, really inspired me on my one. Congrats on a beautiful build!

Looking good but I think those tires had a little too much air. So would you say those differentials work great with the traction control like it grabs sooner and stays locked a bit longer or something? I have a pre-facelift model like yours and I noticed the traction control will allow for a bit of wheelspin more than the facelift 2004 because they have a slightly different slabs unit program that grabs sooner with less spinning. I was thinking of getting one on eBay for like three hundred bucks but also I've considered getting the same differentials you're talking about. I just hate the way the factory traction control even when it's working perfect if you're on a really steep Rocky climb and you get a wheel in the air and the rear has some Spin and then it grabs it wants to flip you backwards when it grabs. A locker or at least something where the traction control grabs much sooner would feel way safer in maintaining momentum and not that sudden jerk of traction

Hey Ronald. I was running around 15 psi. It was my first time out with the 35s. Next time I'm going to try around 12. Maybe even a little lower. I'm just nervous about popping a bead out in the middle of nowhere. I have the 2004 slabs unit in mine. Do you have CDL? With the lockers it grabs almost immediately so that the tires don't build wheel speed and have the grabbing sensation you're talking about when it gets traction. It feels like it has way more control and traction. Since this truck sees more pavement I went with the more budget friendly TruTracs. I don't regret it.

How much lift mate. Have you got a link to suspension?
@xm3ntal620
@xm3ntal620 Год назад
It has about 3.5" lift. I'm using OME HD Springs with a 1" lift spacer. You won't want these springs unless you have metal bumpers, a winch, roof rack etc bc they will ride stiff without weight.
