I ran a 13.16 in my stock '98 Z28(only mod was a cat back exhaust and K&N air filter). I found launching at 1500 rpm worked best. Anything more than that off the line, my rearend would get pretty squirrely. Once I short shifted into second when that happened and the rearend jerked even worse and I had to let off the gas. It definitely took some finesse coordinating the gas and the clutch. Miss that car.
nice set up, were you on drag radials, i can never hook in 1st gear when im doing a little run. i always have to start in a second gear roll. do you have aftermarket lca's and phb too? im still on the stock ones
Sradman750 do you understand what asr stands for its accelerator slip reduction it shuts fuel off has nothing do due with timing nor will it cause any engine damage at all its actually a lot better to run it without not to speak but a lot faster times because it doesn't let off when the tires slip!!
Revvin it pretty high there...my lifters sound like they're about to fly out past 5200 plus that's max hp...you have to be cammed and mildly built heads
CaliRider lol no you don't. Stock bottom end ls1 with a good intake and full exhaust will make power all the way to @ 6k rpm. Assuming it's a 2001-2002 LS1 and you have the Ls6 intake manifold.
11 seconds 0-100 mph is about rite for a stock ls1 Camaro. My 2002 Z28 auto has some mods, ported ls6 heads, BBK headers, 224R cam with a 114 LSA, LS7 lifters, hardened chromoly pushrods, LS2 timing chain, tuned of course, and 3.43 gears, made 367 rwhp, my best 0-100 mph Is 9.8 on street tires, it has the worst traction problems ever, I think I could easily get somewhere in the 8's on DRs to 100 mph. I never had it to a drag strip, but I seen camaros with my setup making my power run 11.9 in the 1/4, and they were 6 speeds, I got an auto which is better for drag racing so I'm thinking I could get around the same time as them if not better.
The 8.1L is a pig of an engine. They're good for what they were made for - trucks. You'd be better off spending your time and money on turbocharging the LS1. LS engines love the boost.
knightrider1545 What engine did you think I was talking about? What other 8.1L is there? My point was that it would take a *_LOT_* more time, money, and effort to swap the 8.1L engine in and give it the supporting mods to make it all worthwhile. Given the same amount of time, money, and effort, you'd be putting into that, you could have an LS engine that would easily be making +1500 horsepower.
I heard ya im just saying, all that displacement is their for nothing, but i know it would cost more but the 8.1 can make a lot of hp just need the funds plus it made 340 hp stock.
You have a v6 yes? If you ever want to put a v8 in then go buy a salvaged z28 or ss and take the parts from it. You get to keep v6 insurance and have the power and the beautiful sound of a v8
CDS Productions If only you knew how much time, effort, and money it takes to convert and f body from a v6 to a v8. Much cheaper and easier to sell the v6 and buy a ls1 car.
I love the 300ZX, but minus the Twin Turbo you just have another 3.0L Nissan. No offense I tried going up against a 5.7L LS1 350HP N/A Stock (you don't know what's in this) and it didn't work out too well. Oh I forgot to mention it was in a Maxima same engine. You might have the top end, but those first few hundred feet... that torque will eat you up
@@alotplus1018 lmao! Thats like saying. I like the Bugatti veyron, but without 12 of it cylinders and 3 of its turbos, it only has 250 hp. Wtf😂😂😂. Dude a maxima? Seriously. The 300zx tt is on another league man, go RU-vid vids of fhem racing. Its rare to see it lose
@@Way2EasyDIY if it's stock you'd still lose haha. My uncle has one and it's decent once it gets into boost it moves pretty good but still not as fast as even when my car was just a lid/cat back
@@MeltingRubberZ28 dude i literally just sold my 02 ss with a 6.0 heads cam and 373's and stall. It was fast but my 300zx is just as fast with a full exhaust and tune. Stock for stock i still think the z would walk away from a roll. And it'd be close from a dig until the z hits 3rd.
@@MeltingRubberZ28 the z is just in a different class of cars. Everything about it is higher quality and not cheap plastic. My z has been 2x more reliable compared to that Camaro which was a endless money pit
Berny maganat lmao you probably drive a mustang. this is what happens when you put an Ls motor in a light car. it flies. probably does have a tune, exhaust, intake setup though.
It's like every Mustang owner goes to these videos to say it's fake. They just can't fucking believe their eyes I guess. "How!? It doesn't even have DOHC!?!? HACKER!"
