Does the passenger side muffler hit the storage compartment on the right side, or could it go further out? I was thinking of trying your setup as well. Only thing is, I have to figure out how to get them centered
Yep, glad I did mine myself on the floor in my garage. All mandrel bent, my diff is the lowest part of the car and my tips come out evenly spaced in the back... And I likely spent less. Oh, and nobody took a hammer to my trunk pan.
Hey bro yours is idling like mine was till we found out the map sensor behind the intake manifold wasn't plugged in! Long shot but make sure it's plugged in!!!!! EVERYONE PLEASE LIKE THIS SO HE SEES IT!
This was my thought exactly. That exhaust will get destroyed if he tries to drive it on the streets for any measurable amount of time. Different strokes I guess...
😂😂😂😂 folks who replied to my comment must have never had an exhaust done before "oh, it's not that bad" yeah, ok 👌👍 buddy 😂😂😂 for 6 bills y'all better have some cutouts and my shit centered
trillrif axegrindor i might have a picture of the super traps exiting under the rear bumper. i never had any pictures of how it was routed. it followed the factory exhaust routing.
Ive had y-pipe hang that low on a thirdgen and crushed it into oval pipes in about 2 weeks up north in NYC area. Good luck if you dare to go near a speed bump. Next time get the double hump trans crossmember or have one made. Piece of mind and exhaust in 1 piece lol
Luckily in Vegas, we have the smoothest roads ever. Speed bumps are a issue. Unfortunately there wasn't much of a crossmember selection for the th400. A custom one might be in the future.
$600 for that? Even after all the shipping and horrible exchange rate to Canada I pulled it off for half that. And mine is all mandrel bent, tucked up, nobody hammered the bottom of my car and I made sure the tips were centered... I thought the rear frame rails were equal side to side until I stepped back and saw how wrong I was. So I spent an hour and made the exits fit right.
You said you were okay to sacrifice ground clearance for performance then but how about now? On the start up portion of the vid it sounded like it was contacting the body somewhere too. There are other options you definitely should have gone with like a single 4” exhaust. I doubt you’ve exceeded 600hp for an exhaust that size to be a hinderance.
Round mufflers would have allowed more adjustment to move the mufflers side to side to center it better, or mount the mufflers at an angle. I would gladly sacrifice a few hp to have more ground clearance and better looking exhaust, but as long as it works for you and you are happy with it then awesome.
How did you deal with #3 and #5 cylinders constantly burning? I have the same headers and exhaust. Double-socked and the wires still burn after 100 miles or so.
With the X-pipe it's dual but not TRUE dual. X-pipe and H-pipe have a smoother sound because of the exhaust scavenging. True duals have two pipes that don't connect at all. No exhaust scavenging gives it a raspy sound which is popular with old-school muscle cars.
Sounds awesome dude! I have an 87 GTA with headers and a single 3" pipe that runs to an 80 series Flowmaster with single inlet and dual outlets, most everyone I've talked to says it flows better this way. IDK, but mine sure sounds good! Gonna swap mine soon, can't decide whether to go with an LS or a Gen V LT.
Check out how guys did their exhaust on the old 1970 Datsun 240Z with small block Chevy/ LS swap. You can have a nice true duel set up with equal back pressure as well.
Is the IAC motor opening up? Usually you hear a hissing sound when it does. Sounds great man! I would love to do true duals one day they sound the best
Are you going to MATS at the strip next month ? How do you like that cam? Im currently running a milder cam , but might want to upgraded, i dont want an all out cam , just a bit more power ... mine is 220/224 .575 on both with 112 lsa, im also local
No. Engine Masters on RU-vid show the bone stock LS1 pickup horsepower by going to a true dual setup. They even tested both 2 and 1/2 inch and 3 inch and the 3-inch made more horsepower
Final Boss Garage I went 2.5 on my set up . I Realy wanted to go 3” but it was already difficult to run the 2.5 with out hanging too low and crossmember being in the way . I cut thru the crossmember and reinforced it
sounds good but looks like crap the muffler on right should have been moved about 3" to the right ,and that ground clearance I would never do that very unprofessional
That's the mufflers mainly. I'm going to be redoing it with smaller Black widow mufflers. it will give me the room to center them and it's going to make it sound a lot better
Hey I’m having issues with installing my exhaust system due to the BMR suspension stuff . Was hoping I can get your pointers on Solutions please contact me
You did turn downs after seeing GC wasn't great or are you saying even with turn downs GC wasnt great? I got a 91 i want to do turndowns on. Wasnt sure if itd be a pita to drop it as well
@@rexmedina4561 no I've had my car fo a few years I'm not a big fan of tips also I think the muffler would looke better near the middle of the car turndown I think sound better. Long tube heders make it hard on ground clearance but only way to go for a ls
@@shaneWARs1 gotcha! Yeah i want a clean look and dont want nothing showing, if i could do side exits thru the lower body skirt i would! When i had my 94 gmc with a 350 it was stock manis and no cats with a single in dual out flowmaster 40 into dual exhaust. I chopped the pipes off and loved the tone it had being dumped. Might just do the same thing
True duals on a 3rd gen is a total waste of time...4" single and be done with it. The under body was designed for single. And crimp bent muffler shop pipes are just plain shit, always have been, always will be.
That looks like absolute garbage .. I would never sacrifice ground clearance … and who wants to see the mufflers out the back … I’m in the middle of doing this to my 89’ with full length headers and will not have ground clearance issues and why wouldn’t you cross the passenger side over to the driver side to make the pipes equal length
@@FinalBossGarage that’s bulls shit … autos have way less room than a manual ! Plus a mechanical linkage takes up way more room than hydraulic … I custom made my cross member to clear and have plenty of room
@@FinalBossGarage ok , you act like the turbo 400 is huge .. no bigger than the 700r4 that came stock .. and mechanical linkage in an automatic is a cable … if it were a 4l80 I’d say yeah there’s issues .. I had one with a turbo 350 and had no issues with clearances around the trans and tunnel … stock making excuses for have shit work done .. and trying to accept it .. I’m guessing you don’t do much of your own work and definitely dont fabricate either .. I’ll gladly show you a pic of my cross member with the reliefs I put in it .. yes it took some time but that’s what fabrication is time measure once cut test fit
