Nessun Dorma Luciano Pavarotti reaction.This is the Italian powerhouse Opera superstar singing one of his best known songs.
Its now synonymous with the Champions league tournament.
Pavarotti has performed this song all over the world and this particular show is from a Paris concert.
Pavarotti has also perdormed Nessum Dorma at the Olympics and there was the famous 1994 Turandot performance as well.
It is rather very apt that this champion singer is known for a song that represents sporting greats!

Hi Harri, the Italians call him adoringly PAPA, he is an ICON in Italy. I am no fan of opera, but I very much respect artists that treasure their craft as Signore Pavarotti did. In England the Queen would have made him a Sir. In Italy the whole nation sees him as part of the Familia. Even a German can grieve over the death of a great artist and musician. As always You and yours stay save and healthy. Gg.

Harri, I'm new to your channel and just heard this reaction. Wonderful job! I'm a retired classical musician and I was taken by your observation that Pavarotti seemed to go "somewhere else" before coming back down. Your description reminded me of my first "transcendent" music experience, at conservatory in 1964. It was during a concert by the Russian cellist Mstislav Rostrovich. He was playing a very fast passage and I was conscious of how terribly difficult it was and (even though he was on the stage and I in the balcony) how far ABOVE us he was. But suddenly EVERYTHING CHANGED. What he was playing didn't seem hard at all now. It was the easiest thing in the world. It was... how can I describe it...almost SPIRITUALLY DELICIOUS (whatever that is). He wasn't above us anymore; he had lifted us up to his level and we were all sharing these delicious moments. I know this all may sound psychedelic or hallucinogenic, but I was not, and have never been, on any mind-altering drug. Others at the concert shared similar reactions, and I've had similar experiences with music over the years since. I don't know if my remembrance will strike a chord with you or any other readers. I offer them as food for thought.

First of all - thanks for your reaction :-). But this isn't the Champions League Anthem. That anthem was written by Tony Britten in 1992 and is based on a piece by Georg Friedrich Händel. "Nessun dorma" on the other hand is an aria from the opera "Turandot" by Giacomo Puccino - written in the early 1920s.

I never had the chance to see Pavarotti perform, but I was lucky enough to see Andrea Bocelli at a concert in Texas a while back. I was up in a really high (cheap) seat and I felt like I'd still hear him clearly if they cut the mike. Seeing an opera singer live really helps you appreciate the power and projection in their voices. I wish I could have heard Pavarotti sing this live, it's one of my favourite opera songs.

The fact that you hear it at football matches could be due to the Nessun Dorma finale. Nessun Dorma "Nobody sleeps! Nobody sleeps! Not even you, oh princess, in your cold room. Look at the stars that tremble. With love and hope." And in the final: "With the twilight I'll win! I'll win! I'll win!"

At one time Pavarotti wasn’t just an singer of opera, he also performed and I read that he played the part of Prince Calaf although rarely. He also performed it for the 1990 World Cup. Transported into the role of Prince Calaf and then back to earth again! He is noted to be the “king of the High C.” Apparently this particular note, for a tenor is difficult to reach. His musical bio is quite impressive. His personal? Depends!! That last note he hits is the longest I’ve ever heard him hold it.

Thank you sir for doing this. As a kid I watched the original "Three Tenors" broadcast on PBS in the year 1990. It was Carreras, Domingo and Pavarotti. It was kind of a battle of arias from the three. This song was the capstone piece done at the end of the solos by Pavarotti. This song sealed his dominance for the night. However, I must say that Placido Domingo gave Pavarotti a run for his money! I am STUNNED that no one has reacted to his ending piece from that night in Rome on RU-vid!!!! Paris, I believe, was 6 years later. Nessun Dorma was the greatest in Rome, then in Paris. They did one in New York, but I don't recall its greatest. Anyway, please react to Placido Domingo's work. He's great too!!!!
@veot.2869
@veot.2869 3 года назад
@Richard Peddie I am glad you can try to make that argument, but the power and dynamics of Pavarotti outdueled Domingo in all three major clashes in Rome 1990, Paris 1994 and Los Angeles later. Domingo had never been able to get out of Pavarotti's shadow. But, having said that he did perform more Operas and this more arias. His technique was flawed. He couldn't get his tongue out of the way. It interfered with his power and a little of his tone.
