I'm a 74 year old guy and have listened to opera for many years. I still tear up every time i hear that one. I am so very happy that a younger generation is listening to this genre....it's a very wonderful way to speak to your soul...
you are so sweet and thank you for the compliment ...it is italian we invented opera ... this was a song for a love ...imqagine to be so lucky to have an italian true love .... not every has that voice but we express it in our feelings
The greatest emotional aria ever written for an opera ... Credits to Giaccomo Puccini for his composition , and to the mighty Luciano Pavarotti for his great performance ! Epic momment ! Zubin Mehta , at the conduction of the orchestra , a beast conductor ! Power and emotion , Giaccomo Puccini , that was ! My musical hero , like Verdi !
Every time I watch a react like this, I think he would be very happy to see this (unfortunately he passed away in 2007), because it was one of his greatest wishes to bring the opera to everybody - not only the "rich people" who can go to the great opera houses. He had a project called "Pavarotti & Friends". There he sang with different (non opera) singers and all the money from this concerts has been donated for children in war zones. You should look for videos of this, because "Big P" is a master tenor, but this fusion of opera and pop/rock music is unbelievable.
@@GracieReacts Yes, it was hard for all fans of him and classical music, but as you can see with his incredible voice he lives forever. Here are some songs to show this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l7eHO_PEWLk.html (together with Placido Domingo and José Carreras = "The Three Tenors" - unreachable!) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZvLZSgP0QMY.html (again th three with a little improvisation) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-otAu5twqDpk.html (with Celine Dion) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EwEYTrlVbPk.html (with all the stars he had at a Pavarotti & Friends-Concert) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XpYGgtrMTYs.html (and "Big P" himself)
finaly someone...who appreciate the sound of Luciano's voice....and cries.......i have to tell that ...when i whas in highschool...i did this song on a talent show... and all the parrents where crying......not because my singing whas bad...but because i chose the most difficult song to sing....but never the less.....i appreciate that you listen to the song....and cried....i am sorry...but with the feeling...and emotional content Luciano gave to this song.....made him...to me...the greatest tenor that ever lived
Congratulations on your reaction, very sincere. You are the only one among many people who did not interrupt the video during the execution, which is very important. This is the translation: None shall sleep (Calaf, the unknown prince:) None shall sleep! None shall sleep! You too, princess, In your cold room You watch the stars Trembling of love and hope... But the mistery of me is locked inside of me No one will know my name! No, no, I will say it on your mouth, When the light will shine! And my kiss will melt the silence that makes you mine. (Choir, voices of women:) No one will know my name... And we will, unfortunately, have to die, die! (Calaf, the unknown prince:) Leave, oh night! Set, stars! Set, stars! At sunrise I will win! I will win! I will win! Greetings from Italy!
I couldn't agree more with your sentiments. Some people just can't listen for two seconds without having to open their own mouth. One needs to hear the music for the full immersion, or else forget it. I think it's an American thing - they love to yak!
@@reggriffiths5769 - I agree with you! and I’m also an American. 🇺🇸 I was taught, from the time I was old enough to understand, that it’s important to listen and marinate on the words and music before spewing my own thoughts. 😅
Everyone has a style of music they like but no matter what, this is the finest piece of vocal control and singing that we will ever hear. I take my hat off to you Pavarotti. I cry too.
I'm from italy, and some of the best childhood memories that i have got is that i remember my mum always talking about Pavarotti as a legend, and now i understand why.
I get teary too and I'm a guy and also don't understand the language. I think when the soul swells beyond what the physical heart is able to contain, it manifests in tears. That part when the choir begins to sing feels like the Heavens open up.
@@GracieReacts I suggest you to listen to the best italian singer ever that is not Pavarotti but is Claudio Villa not so much knowed outide of italy, but his voice has no equal in all the world I put an example of his songs ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_rkuz6BK-3M.html

That aria, that opera, that Man touch our hearts even by the notes and voice alone... But the Puccini's aim is more powerful knowing the charters Calaf and Turandot Why no one sleeps (nessun dorma)? Why I will win, I'll win, I'll win (vincerò, vincerò, vincerò)? ... A kiss from Italy
You just heard the voice of god!!!!!!! I love your reaction cause you don't need to know the words of the song and his voice is what moved you and his passion that you can feel. You should try his "Ave Maria" and the three tenors "O sole a Mio"
I have just come across your reaction of some 4 weeks ago Gracie & I am impressed with your emotions & sincerity. Now you have been exposed to an Opera Aria, & that you were so, so impressed with his voice, let me introduce to you a phenomenal very young Soprano by the name of Amira Willighagen who won Holland’s Got Talent at the age of nine. She won this contest without even a single singing lesson. You mentioned in this reaction the fact that Pavarotti sang without effort, and you’ll find that Amira does exactly that, even in her top register . She not only sings without effort, she has a beautiful powerful voice with a vibrato that most Sopranos would be jealous of, & she sings with such emotion. Amira is now 16, but let me suggest a couple of performances to start you off. I say “start you off” , because once you’ve heard this angelic voice, you will be totally smitten , the same as millions of her fans worldwide. So firstly, start with Amira’s performance , at the age of 10, with the world renown conductor & musician Andre Rieu, where she performed O Mio Babbino Caro with an audience of 15,000 people who gave her a standing ovation. Secondly, her singing Ave Maria by Gomez at the Canisius Church at the age ( I think ) of 11. Amira has since performed in some 13 countries, & sung in at least 5 languages & often to a packed auditorium supported by a full orchestra and backup singers. I know this is a rather long post, but to miss out on hearing this magnificent Soprano would be a travesty , as she has the voice of an angel , & I wasn’t exaggerating when I said “millions” of fans. By the way Gracie, I love your hair! Looking forward to your first Amira reaction, & as time goes by, you will learn a lot more of Amira’s incredible journey, on stage & in her private life.
I really suggest that you go see Turandot when they show. Live. it's an amazing feeling. This is a man ORDERING the stars to set, so that in the following dawn, he may be victorious. I'm from Rome, Italy. Should you ever be around the area, in the summer, the Roman Opera plays it in the Baths of Caracalla, open air. It's just breathtaking.
THANK YOU FOR KEEPING QUIET DURING THE ENTIRE RENDITION!! The hubris on some people, to interrupt this man while he's singing should be a criminal offense. Thank you for having some restraint and listening from beginning to end. Thumbs up.
Try the three tenors concert in Rome in the early 90’s. this was just a small excerpt. Welcome to the world of opera Vocalists. How about sopranos next. Perhaps the flower duet from Lakme or Dianah Damrau Queen of the Night aria
Thanks for all the love you guys are guving us qith your reactions! Lits of love and support from Italy💕. For who wants to know, that final phrase means "At dawn, I'm going to win!"
It's from the the opera "Turandot" by Puccini. It's a classic fairy tale...a proud Princess declares she will only marry someone who can answer three riddles. If they fail, they get executed. Several try and die. Finally one more steps forward and answers all three riddles. The Princess still doesn't want to marry him but he tells her if she can guess his name before dawn, he will allow himself to be killed. She says she will allow no one to sleep and threatens to kill everyone unless someone tells her the Prince's name. The song you're hearing is sung by the Prince (who's name is Calaf) during the night, proclaiming that he will win. Meanwhile the Princess is having a slave girl who knows his name tortured. The girl won't tell her his name and commits suicide. (It's opera...things like this happen.) Sun comes up, Princess doesn't know, Calaf takes her veil off and kisses her...then Princess tells him his name is "Love." Happy ending...except for all the people who die before the wedding.
The lyrics are as powerful as the music, though ethically a little weird:. The Italian translation: Nobody shall sleep!... Nobody shall sleep! Even you, oh Princess, in your cold room, watch the stars, that tremble with love and with hope. But my secret is hidden within me, my name no one shall know... No!...No!... On your mouth, I will tell it when the light shines. And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!... Choir: townpeople ordered to give his name, thought they don't know: (No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.) Vanish, o night! Set, stars! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win! * Comment: the Jealous suitor will probably continue to mistreat those under his control, but completely exterminating his source of income, his townspeople, seems unlikely, I should probably try to find out if Turadot was a reasonably accurate representation of real events.
Amazing ck out agt opera kids. Laura Bretan.and agt opera kids Emmana Beasha then darci lynn and miss Edna and darci lynn does Italian opera like Noone else agt winner
