I died laughing when Ed Sullivan gets caught trying to cop-a-feel on Lucille Ball and Geraldine Jones. It is a shame that Flip Wilson is not shown the respect that he deserve for his contributions to Comedy in America. He open the door for many up and coming comedians in the early 1970s.
Lucille Ball and Flip Wilson are PERFECT comedy foils for each other. In these terrific skits have very similar performing styles - straight out front to the audience and full of joy. It's net to see Lucy generously setting up Flip's laughs. They are a great team.
Ah, the good old days. I remembered this show as a young child in the 1970s. These people are legends and were immensely talented. The shows on TV today can't compare.
Lucy almost lost it when Flip does a dance and yells "I'm on the way with a burger and a shake!" Then Ed Sullivan, who at one time gave Flip Wilson one of his biggest breaks on HIS show, loses it entirely standing between two comedy giants delivering insults to each other.
Ed Sullivan?!?!?! I didn't expect to see him! (And I knew Flip was a hilarious man, but you KNOW you're on to something great when you can make the marvelous Lucille Ball crack up! That is extremely high praise!)
For those of you too young to know, Willie Shoemaker was the prime jockey with a 29 year run of highest victories. Hence the excitement of the method actors in the horse suit.
Cool never knew she was on the Flip Wilson show and I've also never seen her do shows or anything interacting with African Americans so this is interesting!
YESSSS! OMG! I've been looking for this for so long. I saw a short instagram video of them doing a sketch on the flip wilson show and finally you upload it. Thank you!
A common business tactic was for one television star with a show to use another, at no pay. Lucy had Flip on "Here's Lucy" and Flip had Lucy here. Better for taxes.
I always, always wanted Flip Wilson's character, Geraldine Jones, to be Sheneneh's mother. That would have been soooo cool. Geraldine Jones as Sheneneh's mother and Killa Jenkins as her daddy. I wonder if Martin ever thought about that possibility?
Three nights after Flip appeared on the opening episode of the new season on "HERE'S LUCY" (featuring a parody of "Gone with the Wind"), she returned the favor and was his guest on the first show of his second season {September 16, 1971}.
It is so funny how when Lucy appears on Flip's show the sketches are fun and free wheeling but when Flip appeared on her show [Here's Lucy] they had to resort to a spoof of Gone With The Wind, they couldn't be more progressive than that. I love how Ed "accidentally"? touched Geraldine's boobs and Flip reacted in real life to the audience at the 10:45 mark.
☺↗Each of the star's and comedian's has beautiful about them-self in more than one way are beautiful.😘↗Peace and respect to them all of which I having enjoyed their appearances by📺 tv and or 🎥 video showings.↗👌
What a great share , They just don't make talent like these 2 anymore . I seem to remember as a kid the Flip Wilson show came on Sunday nights right before my bedtime atleast around cincinnati .
@@foxx2990 you are ignorant. Racism is everywhere. The absence of poc in any show is very telling. But you already know that and are actively disagreeing bc America has taught non poc to lack self accountability.
Do you by any chance happen to have the dvd set Lucy Mania (with the complete shows of the Westinghouse Special, the two ed sullivan shows and the bob hope shows complete?) Would love to see them again.
