Buyo doesn’t get the mad props he deserves being in Leo’s shadow. No one but a Tuba player knows how insanely hard it is to be the walking baseline at that energy level for that long. Guy is a beast!
That's so true!!! I'm a sousaphone player and I had to march at the parade for homecoming yesterday and our BD wanted to play with a bunch of energy and if we can add some little moves when we played it it's so hard cuz it takes a lot of deep or short breaths
I wouldn’t say Buyo is in Leo’s shadow. Because he is the lowest instrument in the band, and because of that, he played the bass line. And Leo on the other hand plays more of the melody and rarely plays the bass line. But I absolutely agree, I’ve never heard the sousaphone in a lot of bands and Buyo is great at being heard. When he blasts, it almost sounds like it’s a big grunt which is so cool, he’s a great addition to the band. Plus Leo left so he can be more recognized
My grandfather was a military man, he just passed. Wish I could have this group show up and play him off. Great rendition of this tune guys. Turning a somber tune into something happy and beautiful. Keep it up!
Kodi Schitter I think that's unfair. He is a very talented musician, you shouldn't blame him for having some style as well. The fact that he's so flamboyant is just an extra that makes people like him more because it shows he's got some personality.
technically, a marching tuba (or contra) is different from both a tuba and a sousaphone, but because the sousa is a member of the tuba family, it's not inaccurate to call it a tuba...
I’ve watched it 50 times. My favorite part is the last third when just after the trombone player does the quiet bit, and the guys go crazy swinging it. I love a dancing band
You guys should have been at the Super Bowl, your music also should be in campaign ads or Super-Pac ads like The Lincoln Project. They would love you. The unique New Orleans’ jazz as a type of anguish mixed with celebration music is something to be treasured.
Meus olhos viram a glória da vinda do Senhor Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord Ele está pisoteando a safra onde as uvas da ira são armazenadas He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored Ele soltou o fatídico relâmpago de Sua terrível espada rápida He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword A verdade dele está a marchar His truth is marching on Glória, Glória, aleluia! Glory, Glory, hallelujah! Glória, glória, aleluia! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glória, glória, aleluia! Glory, glory, hallelujah! A verdade dele está a marchar His truth is marching on Eu O vi nas vigias de cem campos circulando I have seen Him in the watch-fires of a hundred circling camps Eles lhe edificaram um altar à tarde, orvalho e umidade They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps Eu posso ler Sua sentença justa pelas lâmpadas escuras e flamejantes I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps Seu dia está marchando. His day is marching on. Glória, glória, aleluia! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glória, glória, aleluia! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glória, glória, aleluia! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Seu dia está marchando His day is marching on Eu li um escrito do evangelho ardente em linhas polidas de aço I have read a fiery gospel writ in burnished rows of steel "Ao lidar com meus desprezadores, assim com você minha graça negociará" "As ye deal with my contemners, so with you my grace shall deal" Que o Herói, nascido da mulher, esmague a serpente com o calcanhar Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with his heel Desde que Deus está marchando Since God is marching on Glória, glória, aleluia! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glória, glória, aleluia! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glória, glória, aleluia! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Desde que Deus está marchando Since God is marching on Ele tocou a trombeta que nunca chamará retirada He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat Ele está peneirando o coração dos homens diante do Seu tribunal He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment-seat Oh, seja rápido, minha alma, para responder a Ele! Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! Seja júbilo, meus pés! Be jubilant, my feet! Nosso Deus está marchando Our God is marching on Glória, glória, aleluia! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glória, glória, aleluia! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glória, glória, aleluia! Glory, glory, hallelujah! Nosso Deus está marchando Our God is marching on Na beleza dos lírios, Cristo nasceu do outro lado do mar In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea Com uma glória em Seu seio que transfigura você e eu With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me Como Ele morreu para tornar os homens santos, vamos morrer para libertar os homens As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free Enquanto Deus está marchando While God is marching on Glória, glória, aleluia! Does anyone know what specific style this is. I have to do an assignment for my jazz ensemble class and I don't know what style this is. Online school sucks Thanks COVID-19
And a low A one too. Those weigh in at 15+ pounds. When you consider that he is only wearing an ordinary neck strap and not a harness like many people do with a bari you have to wonder how he avoids neck and shoulder problems that many guys get with just a tenor. The other thing that is amazing is that he can play with only his left hand while dancing and gesticulating with his right arm in the air. Any sax player knows how difficult it is to play without your right thumb under the hook supporting and centering the horn. How eht fuck his left thumb doesn't slip off the thumb rest is beyond me given that the swinging movement of that sax has 15 pounds of force behind it and his mouth alone can't keep that monster in place. The dude is a monster.
