Having LSS for 20 years. I had surgery last May /23. The absolute best thing I could have had done. My was almost in a wheel chair for the rest of my life at 63. 8 hr operation that restored my full range of motion. No fusion. Disk bulges removed in L3-L4-L5 bone removal in L2-L3 calcification of disk material pressing on my Cerebral spinal fluid. 8 hrs in the prone position with 14 people in the operating room. I walked out of the hospital…. I’m running playing soccer and hockey with my grandson’s. God I’m am blessed. 😇

The sciatica due to disc buldge and stenosis are two different diseases with similar symptoms therefore, they are mostly misdiagnosed and mistreated. Can you make a short video about how to diagnose the two diseases and what exercises to do if somebody suffers from both of them?

I have done spinal stenosis operation 9 months ago. My surgeon told it was a good operation but after 9 months still I have limitation in walking . I do exercise at home as my GP gave me instructions but unfortunately my walking is not like I used to do, I am walking just for short distance and then need to sit and start walking again. Can you please advice me ? Thank you very kindly for your helpful post.

I am a 20 year old who just had surgery done after trying months of pt and nonoperative methods. I was very fit, playing soccer in college and no prior history of injuries. Surgery was the best thing that has happened to me. The second I woke up all the pain was gone and truly wondered why I did pt and exercises when this originally happened. I have made a full recovery and I am back to playing soccer. Surgery was the best thing ever.

@@Hargun-cheema I had a surgery called MILD (minimally invasive lumbar decompression). I decided to go with the surgery when the numbness going down my legs went all the way down to my feet. It got to the point where I had no sense of touch in my toes along with the pain. The surgery worked very well for me and the pain was 90% gone the moment I woke up from surgery. In the following weeks the pain lessen and lessened and I feel fantastic how

@@lexlenoir5187 when did you had your surgery and also did your numbness started from your upper leg to the lower leg because in my case the numbness started from the foot towards the knee I am just 17 been 17 months I’m facing this problem I’m not having 24 x 7 pain but whenever I walk for more than two minutes, it starts paining. It’s actually stenosis and my lower back due to the compression of nerve due to disk protection of L4 L5 and L5 S1 level.

@@Hargun-cheema I had surgery about 5 months ago. I was dealing with the symptoms for months. My symptoms were non stop though. Standing, walking, and laying down all hurt for me. Sitting was the worse for me so going to class in college was very difficult. My herniation was in l5-s1 and was a larger herniation. After trying pt and my symptoms only got worse I was feeling hopeless which lead me to the surgery. It was finally relief when I got the surgery.

When lumbar imaging reveals an individual has stenosis and the person doesn't experience pain, it means his condition hasn't yet advanced to the point where it produces pain. Degenerating vertebrae and discs can't be rehabilitated with exercise, they're not muscles or tendons.

24 years old diagnosed with stenosis & osteoarthritis of thoracic T3- T4 & T2-T3 due to working on a computer for 12 hours a day & being sedentary growing up + going hard in the gym with not the greatest but not the worst form eventually all those factors led to asymptomatic stenosis which I didn’t feel until it became moderate & my upper / middle back became very stiff & locked up I started following these principles with my own unique twist & am feeling much better! Hopefully I’ll be symptom free for the majority of my life!

as a medical student, I find your videos helpful with learning anatomy & it’s relationship to therapeutic stretches effective for ameliorating many areas of soreness I have! The lumber spine stretches help a lot, especially since I am constantly sitting in a very uncomfortable position where my lumbar spine accrues lots of pressure & pain throughout the day. You’re doing phenomenal work by making these videos, which are clearly helping so many like myself! Thank you for doing this work 👍💯

Stupid question > How come it is advised to flex the knee e=and don't bend over the spine when handling objects to "spare" the vertebrae ? but that doesn't apply to fitness workout ? like bending forward, espacially with the spine arched (rounded) seems to be the perfect recipe for a vertebral hernia ? particularily if there is a "terrain" for that. thanks for your feedback. Cheers. A.

Hi, I am pretty certain the medical professionals are very helpful with knowledge and education of certain conditions but nevertheless it is annoying when there is no Q.& A. So I have both cervical and lumbar stenosis and have read somewhere that sometimes other diseases or illnesses show up like MS or Parkinsons , does anyone have any news on this ? Positive would be preferable.

I see you posted 7 months ago and sincerely hope something worked out for you. I had sciatica issues for over a year and I tried every stretching / excercise you can imagine. The video is correct in regard to trying everything before surgery. My sciatica pain progressively got worse to the point it was debilitating. Long story long I had minimally invasive surgery and had immediate relief! Don't be afraid to consult with a Spinal Specialist or two it changed my life for the better.

Statistics are interesting but it's a case-by-case basis. I'm not a doctor. For me, physical therapy solved one issue by strengthing my core where I had moderate disk slippage. In another case, I had two bone spurs pinching my spinal cord. A neurosurgeon did a laminotomy to grind and suction it out. PT wasn't helping, couldn't help IMHO. Get an X-ray or MRI, as needed. Use the right tool for the job. You aren't a statistic. You're a special case.
