I bought my niece a monogram Speedy B 25 for her graduation recently. I noticed the uneven patina yesterday. She hadn't noticed and doesn't mind, but I want her 1st LV to be special. My bags have that even, golden caramel on all the Vachetta. So happy you ranted about the new treatment. My niece's bag is going back. Luckily she's saving for another Speedy in Damier. This is soooo helpful! I have the Papillon in the Damier Ebene and was thinking of getting that print in the Speedy. But after watching your video I think I’m getting the monogram. I’m a busy mom to young kids and I’m planning on wearing it crossbody so I hope it wears well 😅

Love your videos ❤️! I bought the speedy 30b mono in the mono in 2019. I am so particular how I take care of my bags and noticed the patina on 1 chap that after a year was not the same patina as the rest of the entire bag so I know it's treated. So sad how the quality is inconsistent but I am afraid to do anything about it except just keep using it, take care as usual and hope it will look the same over time. Thank you for sharing you insights you are spot on.

Great video. Loved your honesty. I just purchased my first luxury bag…I chose the Neverfull GM tote in DE print. I’m happy with it so far…speedy is on my wishlist. But honestly these bags are so expensive I don’t know if I’ll ever buy another lol!

I have both of these and wear the Monogram during spring/summer and the Ebene for fall/winter. I use a base shaper with Monogram and nothing in the Ebene. The Speedy B 30 is the perfect bag imo. I commented early and I can see the difference in the two handles on the Monogram. Mine was made in 2019 and so far so good. Thanks for sharing!

I have the same problem with my handles on my speedyB 30. It began right away. I am just going to power thru it. My bag is 6 months old. I bought it right before the Covid virus hit inMarch. Thank you for explaining what the deal was with the handles.

I was so torn with this as well. I actually let go of my speedy 30 mono because at one point my bag closet looked like the mono print 😂. Now i am missing it, bag remorse... maybe one day she will join me again 😊! Thank you for this review! You are beautiful ❤️

Oooo, Rachel,...lol I bought my final piece of LV Speedy 35 DE no bandolier. I took a trip into LV today and ordered up. I sold my graceful PM DA print though. The canvas was turning yellow and LV wouldn’t help me so, I sold it and got enough to get the other. My organizer I have in my neverful MM will fit in speedy to so I won’t have to buy a new one. I’m done with buying LV for now and am going to enjoy my 3 pieces and one SLG. My collection is monogram NF MM Neonoe in black And speedy 35 and my cute key cle in monogram. I’m set!!

Hey doll...Great video and LOVE YOUR HONESTY!!! I own a Speedy 30 Mono....and love it! I personally would have taken or returned this bag with straps like this. I would find it hard to enjoy the bag otherwise. I've saved up for a bag and thought it would be a Chanel reissue but no luck with the color I want... Preloved of course. 😜 LV fashion house has really made it hard for me with the price increase and quality of their products. Again, your honesty is Truly valuable to me. Have an Awesome weekend 💕

Yes, I wish more people knew that those water spots eventually do go away and blend into the bag. I bought and sold many an LV bag in my day and I'm going to be repurchasing another Speedy Mono 35 and I'm interested to see if the QC is different in Europe as I am currently in Austria and the bags are coming to me directly from France. I will be on the look out for this patina issue. Yikes.

Omg, I just bought my speedy b30 monogram in March 2021 and it’s doing the same thing. I made an appointment next week with my SA to bring it in. It’s so disappointing. Thanks for sharing, I thought I was seeing things 😂. Glad to hear I can take it back, they didn’t even question me, this must be happening a lot.

Rachel, Hi, Loved your video. Thankyou for giving complete insight and indepth information into both canvases. I was only aware of Damier Ebene being all weather bag but the strap tends to dig into ones shoulders. Whereas Monogram having problem with water due to vachetta strap, handles and trimmings. I never knew that vachetta’s problem with water stain gets solved with patina of vachetta. I’ve always liked Damier Ebene but seventeen (17) years back when I bought my first LV bag there was a marked price difference between Damier Ebene and Monogram canvas. Hence I bought classic speedy 25 in Monogram canvas. Now I want to buy Speedy b 30 but was shuttling between Damier Ebene and Monogram canvas. But after seeing your video, decided that Speedy b 30 in DE is not for me as I wear bracelets and ring in my hand plus DE strap will dig into my shoulders as I have a shoulder problem. Can you suggest any other style of bag comfortable for me in DE canvas? Can Speedy b 30 in Monogram canvas be dressed up (as I have to take it for a wedding and carry lot of jewllery which will be heavy) ? Do Vachetta straps soften over time? Any way to hasten the patina? Thank for hearing to my rant. LMA

Will that other patina though? I would return mono for consistent bag. Many do not enjoy worrying about water etc

It snows and rains a lot where I live but I think I would still get the monogram. I don't care about spots and dirt but that's just me. I think having the monogram print would be worth it.

Great video babe! ❤️ I’m not sure if you know but recently in the past year they changed all the Ebene treated leather and now it has a matte finish to it instead of it being shiny. Apparently it’s supposed to prevent the severe wrinkles and cracks that people have been experiencing of their DE bags (especially the Neverfull). I have a GM Neverfull and a Speedy B30 in the newer matte leather and I love it! Both bags have held up really well so far but I have only had them for less than a year😆...I would say you should😄 go for the DE NEVERFULL because of the fact that they changed the leather😁😁😁 -Vanessa❤️

I prefer my speedy in the DE And my neverfull GM in the Monogram. I chose the DE for my speedy because of the darker coated handles, it shows no wear where I feel if the handles are natural then it would show much more wear and tear. On my GM, the straps are much softer with the monogram and so much more comfortable on my shoulder. I have owned mine for almost four years in the patina has darkened and is just stunning on this bag. Also, now that the bag has patina it makes the monogram also weatherproof ♥️ Luckily in the five years that I’ve owned my speedy in the DE, It has never scratched or cracked on the handles or the body of the purse in anyway. I never baby these bags I pay too much money!

I just received the Petit Noe in Mono. I agree the vachetta feels almost rubber-like, I believe they are treating the leather. I had a Petit Noe in the 90's, the canvas was thicker and the leather felt more natural. I have a Neverful from 2018 and the leather does not seem to be treated. I am not sure about this new leather.

mine with the same issue is also made in France in October 2020. I got it 2 weeks after it was made.

I have both canvases in the Speedy B30. Just bought my monogram 3 months ago and the handles are so much lighter than the chaps and straps on the bag. I’m glad you brought that up. Obviously mine is pieced together as well. Ugh!! Trying to put it in the sun while covering up the chaps. What’s pain!! I agree that the DE is a dresser look. I was really struggling on the prints because I love the way the Monogram looks. I just wish that the leather was treated on the Monogram but I also like the Damier Ebene print as well which is equally as beautiful, but I'm going to purchase a bag that I don't have to baby, so I'm going to go with the Damier Ebene print. My Speedy B is from 2011 the first year they came out and it’s first quality, you can buy preloved and request the date code to figure out what year the bag is made. I stopped buy Louis Vuitton in 2011.

I had no idea about the patina....at first I was like 'seriously?' but honestly, these are EXPENSIVE. Hopefully LV will fix this issue. I've also noticed that on other bags, they are using this black stuff on trim and it's AWFUL. After about three months, the black stuff started peel off. LV better listen to it's customers. This is a great video!

Yes. Omg thank you, someone else says it. They are most certainly treating some of the vachetta leather bags. My Iena had treated straps then i had them replaced and now they are raw. It's insane! I hate how the zipper pulls are treated too. They feel like rubber. I hate it. And you never know what you will get.

This is so irritating! I’ve been on the fence with the damier and the mono in the speedy but that quality! The patina problem is just absurd! This bag is $2460 Aus, that’s a lot for a bag! Quality should be perfect! I’m honestly assuming the price increase is going up because the demand for bags seems to be larger and more accessible and they want to stay a high luxury brand. I mean, you look at some of their new bags that have come out most of them start at $4000 AUS. I can understand if that’s their issue, but sort out your quality!! Thanks so much for this video! I dont mind the treated leather, but it should be both handles treated, not just one.

Honestly, the red interior in the damier Ebene in such a big con for me, that even though I live in an area, where it rains quite a lot, I stick to the damier azur or mono..

I’m not even through the video & I had to halt it to say wtf is going on with those handles? I have this bag mine is like 13 years old looks brand new with hardly light honey patina it was the old vachetta. When u turned those handles in I saw the marked difference not only would this be completely unacceptable to me but would drive my ocd crazy. Lol. Thanks for the warning! My last 2 bags were ebene & my newest wallet monogram but now I’m going to think long and hard on the new vachetta! I actually prefer my older speedy monogram which held up like new. You are dead on with the ebene speedy turning black in the corners but I must say mine is from 2006 and the black is not noticeable and not troubling at all both bags have been workhorses and held up great and both look great 👍 I do not baby the bags at all I live in northeast with rain/snow, I do try to not use my speedy mono in rain but I’m sure I have gotten stuck with it a few times and it’s really fine, my ebene bags are in every kind of monsoon and extreme weather and they do much better and more worry free.

The vintage Mono is way better than the new ones, specially the canvas you can feel the quality of the Mono canvas even when it's like 20 yrs old, compare to the new ones it easily crack or damage.
