Lymphatic drainage massage, or manual lymph drainage, is an important part of managing leg lymphedema and lipedema. Follow along for a FULL manual lymph drainage (MLD) routine for right leg lymphedema. I describe the techniques and sequence I use to decrease lymphedema and also address fibrosis. I also discuss and review differences of sequencing for those with lymphedema in both legs compared to just the right leg only.

I did an experiment! I only did 1 leg and my husband noticed the difference between the two! He said why does your right leg look much more swollen? I didn't even ask him or tell him about what I had done. This works folks! Thank you Kelly! You're a life saver! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

17 days post op left knee replacement. I'm in my 50's (and a guy= skeptical) and this has been a life saver!! Had my follow up appointment yesterday with the surgeon and he couldn't believe how little the swelling was. He asked me what they heck I was doing and I told him this. My home PT had your specialty thank God. I do follow along with your videos. This really really works. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Truly amazing.

Thank you so much for this. I don’t have cancer but I do have lymphodema as a result of spina bifida , tethered cord a previous dvt and lack of mobility. My care provider talked us through this routine in an online workshop and then left us with a handout but nothing beats a video demonstration. I’ve just done this now as I have a bad flare up and I can already feel the circulation improve

After an injury to my back years ago left me with limited mobility I developed lymphoedema in my left leg then later in my right from prolonged periods of sitting . Have since discovered that this condition is common for the elderly in rest homes . Started these massages and was sceptical at first but started to laugh when after 30 minutes or so when the extremely taught swollen skin in my leg actually started to become noticeably softer 🤗. Can feel my shin bone again . Thank you for the video . 🤗

Kelly…as I have said before I think your videos are terrific. I am a veteran MLD patient, 30 visits at least, and I wear a class 3 custom garment , full leg with integrated compression short. I know how to do massage, but when I do it myself I get bored and get off track. Your leg video is spot on for me. I prefer this version of the video. Well lighted, clinical, professional, you look right at me and I’m listening to every word. The new version is a low light bedroom scene(weird) and seems to be for novices who have never had a MLD session. Plus your hand on your skin sounds like sandpaper on wood, very distracting. I rarely look at the video now but listen carefully to what you say. Your cadence, pacing and thoroughness are really really good. Plus you talk about the thigh, which is my problem area. Lumps, fluid buildup in the back of the thigh, you seem to know what my problem areas are. That’s why I have coffee and massage every morning with you before I put on my garment. I hope you find my comments useful. I think you are 10 times better than the other videos out there, and I will be watching your video for a long time.

Thanks for sharing! It helped me tremendously, it's not gone yet but I didn't expect it either I'm sure a few sessions will be needed for the swelling in my right knee! I'm really disappointed in so many doctors right now, you can't imagine the length I've gone through and pills or scans I had done only to self diagnose and physicaliy help myself with it... next time my visit to my doctor will be not so fun I bet! :D

Thank you for the video! I have a swollen groin lymph node that has been biopsied (non-cancerous) but they want to take it out. Its a little over 3cm. I am wondering if you have any ideas to try before I get it removed. I was so scared that it was cancer that I was encouraging the doctors to take it out, but after some research I now wonder if I should wait and see if I can help it drain somehow. I have just started the massage. Do you have any ideas for me or other resources to watch/read? Thanks again! FYI I am healthy (other than this), 50 yrs old, and exercise regularly

Hi Kelly, First let me say I enjoy your videos and find them educational and straight forward. If I lived in the area you practice I would be happy to see you as my PT. I was diagnosed with MS about 14 yrs. ago and suffer from right foot drop and constant swelling in my rt. foot, ankle and leg. I also have heart disease (arrested 7 years ago from a blockage) but came out of it with no damage to my heart. My question is if I have poor circulation in my leg, retain fluids and can no longer be as active as I previously was (athletic), how does this type of massage help you expel this extra fluid? How does clearing the fluids above your center line upwards to the armpit nodes clear any fluid out of your body? Thanks and keep creating the great videos.
@stancexpunks
@stancexpunks Год назад
It’s not about clearing the fluid out of your body but about moving it to a non congested / swollen part of your body. That’s why in the beginning she says if you only have swelling in one leg that you can move the fluid to the other leg

I’ve had to ask for appointments to see cardiologist and blood work which all came out normal, praise God..) and PCP just giving me HCTZ ( water pill) for the excess fluid- and telling me to watch my salt- i try my best to not eat poorly and do not eat processed foods or add any salt- soy sauce- ketchup- etc… I KNOW that this is coming from somewhere and she doesn’t seem concerned, uggh.. decided to do my own research and treatment before it’s too late.. Just found out lymphatic drainage massage was a thing! Not sure if I have lymphedema but I suspect it. I had extremely bad swelling during my pregnancy (it worried the medical staff bc they never seen it so extreme) last year and most of it has gone away but my legs are still noticeably swollen! I hate it so much. And my dr doesn’t even do anything about it, just chalks it up to varicose veins from pregnancy …

Would doing these exercises for the first time cause a person to urinate more afterwards? Thank you.
@labradoreadore
@labradoreadore 2 года назад
Yes. From experience and as stated in other videos and stated by my massage therapist too you can expect urination if you are moving fluid. The diaphragmatic breathing .. in through your nose and out through mouth …. is so important to help the fluid movement. Make sure your diaphragm/belly is expanding and not your chest. If your chest is expanding you are not doing diaphragmatic breathing (expanding your diaphragm). You can find more help with this by viewing breathing videos or googling for help. Best wishes. Ps.. my massage therapist has me taking ten deep diaphragmatic breaths every hour to help. It helps in other ways too.. more oxygen, relieves stress, etc. It has helped me tremendously and I feel much better overall. Please try it. Even if you cannot do them every hour you are awake, what you can do will really help.

Kelly, please explain diaphragmatic breathing to everyone. If viewers have not had professional treatment by a therapist and they are expanding lungs and not breathing/expanding their diaphragms and belly while taking deep breaths, they are not doing the deep breaths properly. Thank you.
